Exodus 9
1 Forsothe the Lord seide to Moises, Entre thou to Farao, and speke thou to hym, The Lord God of Ebrews seith these thingis, Delyuere thou my puple, that it make sacrifice to me;
Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Aborde Pharaon et lui dis: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu des Hébreux: Permets à mon peuple d'aller me servir,
2 that if thou forsakist yit, and withholdist hem, lo!
car si tu refuses de le laisser aller et si tu le retiens encore,
3 myn hond schal be on thi feeldis, on horsis, and assis, and camels, and oxun, and scheep, a pestilence ful greuous;
l'Éternel fera main basse sur tes troupeaux qui sont dans les champs, chevaux, ânes, chameaux, bœufs et brebis, il y aura mortalité très grande.
4 and the Lord schal make a merueilous thing bitwixe the possessiouns of Israel and the possessiouns of Egipcians, that outirli no thing perische of these thingis that perteynen to the sones of Israel.
Et l'Éternel fera une distinction entre les troupeaux d'Israël et les troupeaux des Égyptiens, et il ne périra rien de ce qui est aux enfants d'Israël.
5 And the Lord ordeinede a tyme, and seide, To morewe the Lord schal do this word in the lond.
Et l'Éternel fixa le moment et dit: Demain l'Éternel exécutera cette menace dans le pays.
6 Therfor the Lord made this word in the tother dai, and alle the lyuynge beestis of Egipcians weren deed; forsothe outirli no thing perischide of the beestis of the sones of Israel.
Et ainsi fit l'Éternel le lendemain, et tous les troupeaux des Égyptiens périrent, et des troupeaux des enfants d'Israël il ne périt rien.
7 And Farao sente to se, nether ony thing was deed of these thingis whiche Israel weldide; and the herte of Farao was maad greuouse, and he delyuerede not the puple.
Et Pharaon fit prendre des informations, et voici, des troupeaux d'Israël rien n'avait péri, pas un individu. Mais Pharaon endurcit son cœur et ne laissa point partir le peuple.
8 And the Lord seide to Moises and Aaron, Take ye the hondis ful of askis of the chymeney, and Moises sprynge it in to heuene bifore Farao;
Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse et à Aaron: Prenez vos mains pleines de suie de fournaise, et que Moïse la répande en l'air aux yeux de Pharaon,
9 and be there dust on al the lond of Egipt; for whi botchis schulen be in men and in werk beestis, and bolnynge bladdris schulen be in al the lond of Egipt.
et elle se changera en une poussière qui couvrira tout le pays d'Egypte, et produira sur les hommes et les bestiaux des ulcères avec éruption de pustules dans tout le pays d'Egypte.
10 And thei token askis of the chymney, and stoden bifore Farao; and Moises spreynt it into heuene; and woundis of bolnynge bladdris weren maad in men, and in werk beestis;
Et ils prirent, de la suie de fournaise, et se présentèrent devant Pharaon, et Moïse la répandit en l'air, et elle produisit sur les hommes et les bestiaux une éruption d'ulcères avec des pustules.
11 and the witchis myyten not stonde bifor Moises, for woundis that weren in hem, and in al the lond of Egipt.
Et les hiérogrammates ne purent plus tenir tête à Moïse à cause des ulcères, car les hiérogrammates et tous les Égyptiens étaient couverts d'ulcères.
12 And the Lord made hard the herte of Farao, and he herde not hem, as the Lord spak to Moises.
Mais l'Éternel endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne les écouta point, ainsi que l'Éternel l'avait annoncé à Moïse.
13 Also the Lord seide to Moises, Rise thou eerli, and stonde bifore Farao, and thou schalt seie to hym, The Lord God of Ebrews seth these thingis, Delyuere thou my puple, that it make sacrifice to me;
Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Lève-toi le matin et présente-toi devant Pharaon et dis-lui: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu des Hébreux: Permets à mon peuple d'aller me servir.
14 for in this tyme Y schal sende alle my veniauncis on thin herte, and on thi seruauntis, and on thi puple, that thou wite, that noon is lijk me in al erthe.
Car cette fois je veux envoyer toutes mes plaies contre ta personne et sur tes serviteurs et sur ton peuple, afin que tu saches que sur toute la terre nul n'est mon égal.
15 For now Y schal holde forth the hond, and Y schal smyte thee and thi puple with pestilence, and thou schalt perische fro erthe;
Car maintenant j'aurais étendu ma main et frappé et toi et ton peuple de la peste à l'exterminer de la terre;
16 forsothe herfor Y haue set thee, that Y schewe my strengthe in thee, and that my name be teld in ech lond.
mais si je t'ai laissé debout, c'est pour te rendre témoin de ma puissance, et afin que l'on redise mon nom par toute la terre.
17 Yit thou withholdist my puple, and nylt delyuere it?
Si tu te roidis encore contre mon peuple pour l'empêcher d'aller,
18 Lo! to morewe in this same our Y schal reyne ful myche hail, which maner hail was not in Egipt, fro the dai in which it was foundid, til in to present tyme.
voici, demain j'enverrai une très forte pluie de grêle, telle qu'il n'y en aura jamais eu de pareille en Egypte depuis le jour de sa création jusqu'aujourd'hui.
19 Therfor sende thou `riyt now, and gadere thi werk beestis, and alle thingis whiche thou hast in the feeld; for men and werk beestis and alle thingis that ben in feeldis with outforth, and ben not gaderid fro the feeldis, and haile falle on tho, schulen die.
Maintenant donc dépêche des messagers et mets en sûreté tes troupeaux et tout ce qui t'appartient dans les champs. Tous les hommes et tous les bestiaux qui se trouveront dans les champs, et n'auront pas été recueillis au gîte, s'ils sont atteints par la grêle, périront.
20 He that dredde `the Lordis word, of the seruauntis of Farao, made his seruauntis and werk beestis fle in to housis;
Ceux d'entre les serviteurs de Pharaon qui craignirent la menace de l'Éternel, mirent en hâte à l'abri leurs serviteurs et leurs troupeaux dans les maisons.
21 sotheli he that dispiside the `Lordis word, lefte his seruauntis and werk beestis in the feeldis.
Mais ceux qui ne tinrent pas compte de la menace de l'Éternel, laissèrent leurs serviteurs et leurs troupeaux dans les champs.
22 And the Lord seide to Moises, Holde forth thin hond in to heuene, that hail be maad in al the lond of Egipt, on men, and on werk beestis, and on ech eerbe of the feeld in the lond of Egipt.
Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Étends ta main vers le ciel, et qu'il tombe de la grêle sur tout le pays d'Egypte, sur les hommes et sur les bestiaux et sur toutes les plantes des champs au pays d'Egypte.
23 And Moises held forth the yerde in to heuene; and the Lord yaf thundris, and hail, and leitis rennynge aboute on the lond; and the Lord reynede hail on the lond of Egipt;
Et Moïse étendit son bâton vers le ciel, et l'Éternel détacha tonnerres et grêles, et le feu courut sur la terre, et l'Éternel fit tomber une pluie de grêle sur le pays d'Egypte.
24 and hail and fier meddlid togidere weren borun forth; and it was of so myche greetnesse, how greet apperide neuere bifore in al the lond of Egipt, sithen thilke puple was maad.
Et c'était une grêle mêlée à un feu continu, tellement forte qu'on n'en avait jamais vu de pareille dans tout le pays d'Egypte depuis qu'il formait un peuple.
25 And the hail smoot in the lond of Egipt alle thingis that weren in the feeldis, fro man til to werk beeste; and the hail smoot al the eerbe of the feeld, and brak al the flex of the cuntrey;
Et la grêle frappa dans tout le pays d'Egypte tout ce qui était dans les champs, depuis l'homme aux bestiaux, et la grêle frappa toutes les plantes des champs et brisa tous les arbres des champs.
26 oonli the hail felde not in the lond of Gessen, where the sones of Israel weren.
Il n'y eut que la contrée de Gosen où étaient les enfants d'Israël, qui n'eut point de grêle.
27 And Farao sente, and clepide Moises and Aaron, and seide to hem, Y haue synned also now; the Lord is iust, Y and my puple ben wickid;
Alors Pharaon envoya appeler Moïse et Aaron et il leur dit: Cette fois j'ai péché, l'Éternel est le juste, et moi et mon peuple les coupables.
28 preye ye the Lord, that the thundris and hail of God ceesse, and Y schal delyuere you, and dwelle ye no more here.
Intercédez auprès de l'Éternel! Assez de tonnerres de Dieu et de grêle! et je vous laisserai partir et vous ne serez plus retenus.
29 Moyses seide, Whanne Y schal go out of the citee, Y schal holde forth myn hondis to the Lord, and leitis and thundris schulen ceesse, and hail schal not be, that thou wite, that the lond is the Lordis;
Et Moïse lui dit: Quand je retournerai à la ville, j'élèverai mes mains vers l'Éternel; les tonnerres cesseront, et il n'y aura plus de grêle, afin que tu reconnaisses que la terre est à l'Éternel.
30 forsothe Y knowe, that thou and thi seruauntis dreden not yit the Lord.
Mais ni toi ni tes serviteurs, je le sais, n'aurez encore crainte de l'Éternel Dieu.
31 Therfor the flex and barli was hirt, for the barli was greene, and the flex hadde buriounned thanne knoppis;
(Or le lin et l'orge furent frappés, car l'orge était en épis, et le lin en fleur.
32 forsothe wheete and beenys weren not hirt, for tho weren late.
Mais le froment et l'épeautre ne furent point frappés, car ils sont tardifs.)
33 And Moyses yede out fro Farao, and fro the citee, and helde forth the hondis to the Lord, and thundris and hail ceessiden, and reyn droppide no more on the erthe.
Moïse ayant donc quitté Pharaon se rendait à la ville. Et il étendit ses mains vers l'Éternel, et les tonnerres et la grêle cessèrent, et la pluie ne tomba plus sur la terre.
34 Sotheli Farao siy that the reyn hadde ceessid, and the hail, and thundris, and he encreesside synne;
Et Pharaon voyant que la pluie avait cessé avec la grêle et les tonnerres, persista à pécher et il endurcit son cœur, lui et ses serviteurs.
35 and the herte of hym and of hise seruauntis was maad greuouse, and his herte was maad hard greetli; nethir he lefte the sones of Israel, as the Lord comaundide bi `the hond of Moises.
Et le cœur de Pharaon s'obstina, et il ne laissa point partir les enfants d'Israël, ainsi que l'Éternel l'avait annoncé par l'organe de Moïse.
