Exodus 17
1 Therfor al the multitude of the sones of Israel yede forth fro the deseert of Syn, bi her dwellyngis, bi the word of the Lord, and settiden tentis in Rafidym, where was not watir to the puple to drynke.
Saa brød hele Israels Menighed op fra Sins Ørken og drog fra Lejrplads til Lejrplads efter HERRENS Bud. Men da de lejrede sig i Refidim, havde Folket intet Vand at drikke.
2 Whiche puple chidde ayens Moises, and seide, Yyue thou water to vs, that we drynke. To whiche Moises answeride, What chiden ye ayens me, and whi tempten ye the Lord?
Da kivedes Folket med Moses og sagde: »Skaf os Vand at drikke!« Men Moses svarede dem: »Hvorfor kives I med mig, hvorfor frister I HERREN?«
3 Therfor the puple thristide there for the scarsnesse of watir, and grutchiden ayens Moises, and seide, Whi madist thou vs to go out of Egipt, to sle vs, and oure fre children, and beestis, for thrist?
Og Folket tørstede der efter Vand og knurrede mod Moses og sagde: »Hvorfor har du ført os op fra Ægypten? Mon for at lade os og vore Børn og vore Hjorde dø af Tørst?«
4 Forsothe Moises criede to the Lord, and seide, What schal Y do to this puple? yit a litil, also it schal stone me.
Da raabte Moses til HERREN: »Hvad skal jeg gøre med dette Folk? Det er ikke langt fra, at de vil stene mig.«
5 The Lord seide to Moises, Go thou bifore the puple, and take with thee of the eldre men of Israel, and take in thin hond the yerde, `bi which thou hast smyte the flood, and go; lo!
Men HERREN sagde til Moses: »Træd frem for Folket med nogle af Israels Ældste og tag den Stav, du slog Nilen med, i din Haand og kom saa!
6 Y schal stonde there before thee, aboue the stoon of Oreb, and thou schalt smyte the stoon, and water schal go out therof, that the puple drynke. Moises dide so byfore the eldere men of Israel;
Se, jeg vil staa foran dig der paa Klippen ved Horeb, og naar du slaar paa Klippen, skal der strømme Vand ud af den, saa Folket kan faa noget at drikke.« Det gjorde Moses saa i Paasyn af Israels Ældste.
7 and he clepide the name of that place Temptacioun, for the chidyng of the sones of Israel, and for thei temptiden the Lord, and seiden, Whether the Lord is in vs, ether nay?
Og han kaldte dette Sted Massa og Meriba, fordi Israeliterne der havde kivedes og fristet HERREN ved at sige: »Er HERREN iblandt os eller ej?«
8 Forsothe Amalech cam, and fauyt ayens Israel in Rafidym.
Derefter kom Amalekiterne og angreb Israel i Refidim.
9 And Moises seide to Josue, Chese thou men, and go out, and fiyte to morewe ayens men of Amalech; lo! Y schal stonde in the cop of the hil, and Y schal haue `the yerde of God in myn hond.
Da sagde Moses til Josua: »Udvælg dig Mænd og ryk i Morgen ud til Kamp mod Amalekiterne; jeg vil stille mig paa Toppen af Højen med Guds Stav i Haanden!«
10 Josue dide as Moises spak, and fauyt ayens Amalech. Forsothe Moises, and Aaron, and Hur stieden on the cop of the hil;
Josua gjorde, som Moses bød, og rykkede ud til Kamp mod Amalekiterne. Men Moses, Aron og Hur gik op paa Toppen af Højen.
11 and whanne Moises reiside the hondis, Israel ouercam; forsothe if he let down a litil, Amalech ouercam.
Naar nu Moses løftede Hænderne i Vejret, fik Israeliterne Overtaget, men naar han lod Hænderne synke, fik Amalekiterne Overtaget.
12 Sotheli `the hondis of Moises weren heuy, therfor thei token a stoon, and puttide vndir hym, in which stoon he sat. Forsothe Aaron and Hur susteyneden hise hondis, on euer eithir side; and it was don, that hise hondis weren not maad weri, til to the goyng down of the sunne.
Og da Moses's Hænder blev trætte, tog de en Sten og lagde under ham; saa satte han sig paa den, og Aron og Hur støttede hans Hænder, hver paa sin Side; saaledes var hans Hænder stadig løftede til Solen gik ned,
13 And Josue droof a wey Amalech and his puple, in `the mouth of swerd, that is, bi the scharpnesse of the swerd.
og Josua huggede Amalekiterne og deres Krigsfolk ned med Sværdet.
14 Forsothe the Lord seide to Moises, Wryte thou this in a book, for mynde, and take in the eeris of Josue; for Y schal do a wei the mynde of Amalech fro vndur heuene.
Da sagde HERREN til Moses: »Optegn dette i en Bog, for at det kan mindes, og indskærp Josua, at jeg fuldstændig vil udslette Amalekiternes Minde under Himmelen!«
15 And Moises bildide an auter, and clepide the name therof The Lord myn enhaunsere,
Derpaa byggede Moses et Alter og kaldte det: »HERREN er mit Banner!«
16 and seide, For the hond of the Lord aloone, and the bateil of God schal be ayens Amalech, fro generacioun in to generacioun.
Og han sagde: »Der er en udrakt Haand paa HERRENS Trone! HERREN har Krig med Amalek fra Slægt til Slægt!«
