Deuteronomy 28
1 Forsothe if thou herist the vois of thi Lord God, that thou do and kepe alle hise comaundementis, whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, thi Lord God schal make the hiyere than alle folkis that lyuen in erthe.
“Nếu toàn dân triệt để tuân hành mọi giới luật của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, tôi truyền lại hôm nay, thì Ngài sẽ làm cho Ít-ra-ên thành một quốc gia hùng cường hơn mọi quốc gia khác.
2 And alle these blessyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen take thee; if netheles thou herist hise comaundementis.
Anh em sẽ hưởng nhiều phước lành nếu anh em vâng phục Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em:
3 Thou schalt be blessid in citee, and blessid in feeld;
Phước lành trong thành thị,
4 blessid schal be the fruyt of thi wombe, and the fruyt of thi lond, and the fruit of thi beestis; `blessid schulen be the flockis of thi grete beestis, and the fooldis of thi scheep;
Phước lành trên con cái hậu tự,
5 blessid schulen be thi bernes, and `blessid schulen be `thi relifs;
Giỏ đầy trái, thùng đầy bột của anh em
6 thou schalt be blessid entrynge, and goynge out.
Bất cứ anh em đi đến đâu hay làm việc gì
7 The Lord schal yyue thin enemyes fallynge in thi siyt, that schulen rise ayens thee; bi o weie thei schulen come ayens thee, and by seuene weies thei schulen fle fro thi face.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ đánh bại quân thù trước mặt anh em. Họ cùng nhau kéo ra đánh anh em, nhưng rồi tán loạn tẩu thoát!
8 The Lord schal sende out blessyng on thi celeris, and on alle the werkis of thin hondis; and he schal blesse thee in the lond which thou hast take.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ làm cho vựa lẫm anh em tràn đầy, mọi công việc đều thịnh vượng, khi anh em sống trong đất Ngài cho.
9 The Lord schal reise thee to hym silf in to an hooli puple, as he swoor to thee, if thou kepist the heestis of thi Lord God, and goist in his weies.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ làm cho anh em thành dân thánh của Ngài như Ngài đã hứa, nếu anh em tuân giữ giới lệnh và đi trong đường lối Ngài.
10 And alle the puples of londis schulen se, that the name of the Lord is inwardli clepid on thee, and thei schulen drede thee.
Mọi dân tộc trên hoàn cầu sẽ nhận biết Ít-ra-ên và sẽ kính nể anh em, vì anh em mang Danh Chúa Hằng Hữu.
11 The Lord schal make thee to be plenteuouse in alle goodis, in fruyt of thi wombe, and in fruyt of thi beestis, in the fruyt of thi lond, which the Lord swoor to thi fadris, that he schulde yyue to thee.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ cho anh em thịnh vượng trong đất Ngài ban, kể cả con cháu đông đảo, súc vật đầy đàn, mùa màng phong phú, như Ngài đã hứa với tổ tiên chúng ta.
12 The Lord schal opene his beste tresour, heuene, that he yyue reyn to thi lond in his tyme; and he schal blesse alle the werkis of thin hondis; and thou schalt leene to many folkis, and of no man thou schalt take borewyng.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ mở cửa kho tàng kỳ diệu trên trời cho anh em, mưa sẽ rơi đúng mùa, mọi việc anh em làm đều thành công mỹ mãn. Anh em sẽ cho các nước khác vay, nhưng Ít-ra-ên không mượn của ai.
13 The Lord God schal sette thee in to the heed, and not in to the tail, and euere thou schalt be aboue, and not bynethe; if netheles thou herist the comaundementis of thi Lord God, whiche Y comaunde to thee to day, and kepist,
Vậy, nếu anh em vâng theo các giới lệnh của Chúa Hằng Hữu do tôi truyền lại hôm nay, thì Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ cho anh em đứng đầu chứ không đứng cuối, anh em sẽ luôn luôn thăng tiến chứ không suy đồi.
14 and doist, and bowist not awey fro tho, nether to the riyt side nether to the lefte side, nether suest alien goddis, nethir worschipist hem.
Đừng bao giờ lìa khỏi các giới lệnh này, cũng đừng thờ các thần khác.”
15 That if thou nylt here the vois of thi Lord God, that thou kepe and do alle hise heestis, and cerymonyes, whiche Y comaunde to thee to day, alle these cursyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen take thee.
“Nhưng nếu anh em không vâng lời Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, không tuân giữ các giới lệnh tôi truyền hôm nay, anh em phải hứng chịu các lời nguyền rủa sau đây:
16 Thou schalt be cursid in citee, cursid in feeld.
Thành thị và đồng ruộng của anh em sẽ bị nguyền rủa.
17 Cursid `schal be thi berne, and cursid schulen be thi relifs.
Bánh trái của anh em sẽ bị nguyền rủa.
18 Cursid schal be the fruit of thi wombe, and the fruyt of thi lond; `cursid schulen be the drooues of thin oxun, and the flockis of thi scheep.
Hậu tự và việc trồng trọt của anh em sẽ bị nguyền rủa.
19 Thou schalt be cursid goynge in, and `thou schalt be cursid goynge out.
Anh em đi nơi nào hoặc làm điều gì cũng bị nguyền rủa.
20 The Lord schal sende on thee hungur, and thurst, and blamyng in to alle thi werkis whiche thou schalt do, til he al to-breke thee, and leese swiftli, for thi werste fyndyngis, in whiche thou hast forsake me.
Chính Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ nguyền rủa anh em. Anh em sẽ hoang mang, thất bại trong mọi công việc mình làm, cho đến ngày bị tiêu diệt vì tội ác đã phạm khi từ bỏ Ngài.
21 The Lord ioyne pestilence to thee, til he waaste thee fro the lond, to which thou schalt entre to welde.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ làm cho anh em mắc bệnh dịch cho đến lúc bị tiêu diệt hết, không còn ai sống trên đất Ngài cho nữa.
22 The Lord smyte thee with nedynesse, feuyr, and coold, brennynge, and heete, and with corrupt eir, and rust; and pursue thee til thou perische.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ hành hại anh em bằng các bệnh như lao, sốt, phù thũng; và các thiên tai như nóng gắt, hạn hán; cây cỏ phải chết vì khô héo, vì nấm mốc. Tất cả những tai nạn này sẽ theo đuổi anh em cho đến khi anh em bị diệt sạch.
23 Heuene which is aboue thee be brasun; and the erthe which thou tredist be yrun.
Đối với anh em, trời sẽ trở nên như đồng, đất trở nên như sắt.
24 The Lord yyue dust for reyn to thi lond, and aysche come doun fro heuene on thee, til thou be al to-brokun.
Thay vì mưa, Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ cho bụi rơi xuống, cho đến lúc anh em bị hủy diệt.
25 The Lord yyue thee fallynge bifor thin enemyes; bi o weie go thou ayens hem, and bi seuene weies fle thou, and be thou scaterid bi alle the rewmes of erthe;
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ làm cho anh em bị quân thù đánh bại. Anh em cùng nhau ra trận, nhưng rồi chạy trốn tán loạn. Anh em sẽ bị các dân tộc khác ghê tởm.
26 and thi deed bodi be in to mete to alle volatils of heuene, and to beestis of erthe, and noon be that dryue hem awai.
Xác chết của anh em sẽ bị chim rỉa thú ăn; anh em chẳng còn ai để đuổi chúng đi.
27 The Lord smyte thee with the botche of Egipt, and `the Lord smyte the part of bodi wherbi `ordures ben voyded; also `the Lord smyte thee with scabbe, and yicchyng, so that thou mayst not be curid.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ làm cho anh em bị ung nhọt Ai Cập, bướu, hoại huyết, ghẻ ngứa—không cách nào chữa khỏi.
28 The Lord smyte thee with madnesse, and blyndnesse, and woodnesse of thouyt;
Ngài cũng bắt anh em phải mang bệnh điên, mù, và lảng trí.
29 and grope thou in mydday, as a blynd man is wont to grope in derknessis; and dresse he not thi weies; in al tyme suffre thou fals chaleng, and be thou oppressid bi violence, nethir haue thou ony that schal delyuere thee.
Ngay giữa trưa, anh em đi quờ quạng như người mù trong đêm tối. Công việc anh em làm đều thất bại. Anh em sẽ bị áp bức, cướp giật thường xuyên mà không ai cứu giúp.
30 Take thou a wijf, and anothir man sleepe with hir; bilde thou an hows, and dwelle thou not ther ynne; plaunte thou a vyner, and gadere thou not grapis therof.
Vợ hứa của anh em sẽ bị người khác lấy. Anh em cất nhà mới nhưng không được ở. Trồng nho nhưng không được ăn trái.
31 Thin oxe be offrid bifor thee, and ete thou not therof; thin asse be rauyschid in thi siyt, and be not yoldun to thee; thi scheep be youun to thin enemyes, and noon be that helpe thee.
Bò của anh em nuôi sẽ bị người khác giết trước mặt mình, mà anh em không được ăn thịt. Lừa sẽ bị cướp ngay trước mặt, người ta không bao giờ trả lại. Chiên sẽ bị giao nạp cho quân thù, nhưng chẳng có ai giúp đỡ anh em.
32 Thi sones and thi douytris be youun to another puple, `while thin iyen seen, and failen at the siyt of hem al day; and no strengthe be in thin hond.
Con trai và con gái của anh em sẽ bị người nước khác bắt đi ngay trước mắt mình. Suốt ngày anh em chỉ mỏi mòn trông chờ con, nhưng không làm gì được vì bất lực.
33 A puple whom thou knowist not ete the fruytis of thi lond, and alle thi trauels; and euere be thou suffrynge fals calengis, and be thou oppressid in alle daies,
Dân một nước xa lạ sẽ ăn hết mùa màng do công khó của anh em trồng trọt, suốt ngày anh em bị áp bức và chà đạp.
34 and wondrynge at the ferdfulnesse of tho thingis whiche thin iyen schulen se.
Anh em sẽ điên dại vì những điều trông thấy.
35 The Lord smyte thee with the worste botche in the knees, and in the hyndere partes of the leg; and thou mow not be heelid fro the sole of the foot `til to the top.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ làm cho anh em nổi ung nhọt từ đầu đến chân, không chữa khỏi được.
36 And the Lord schal lede thee, and thi kyng, whom thou schalt ordeyne on thee, in to a folc which thou knowist not, thou, and thi fadris; and thou schalt serue there to alien goddis, to a tre, and stoon.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ đày anh em cùng với vua mình sang một nước xa lạ, tên của nước này anh em cũng như các tổ tiên chưa hề biết đến. Tại đó, anh em sẽ thờ cúng các thần bằng đá, bằng gỗ.
37 And thou schalt be lost in to prouerbe, and fable to alle puplis, to whiche the Lord schal brynge thee yn.
Anh em sẽ bị ghớm ghiết, trở thành trò cười tại bất cứ nơi nào mà Chúa Hằng Hữu đưa anh em đến.
38 Thou schalt caste myche seed in to the erthe, and thou schalt gadere litil; for locustis schulen deuoure alle thingis.
Anh em sẽ gieo giống thật nhiều nhưng gặt thật ít, vì châu chấu sẽ ăn hết mùa màng.
39 Thou schalt plaunte, and schalt digge a vyner, and thou schalt not drynke wyn, nether thou schalt gadere therof ony thing; for it schal be wastid with wormes.
Anh em trồng tỉa vườn nho nhưng không có nho ăn, rượu uống, vì sâu sẽ ăn hết.
40 Thou schalt haue olyue trees in alle thi termes, and thou schalt not be anoyntid with oile; for tho schulen falle doun, and schulen perische.
Mặc dù anh em có cây ô-liu khắp nơi trong lãnh thổ mình, anh em không có dầu ô-liu để dùng, vì trái cây đã héo rụng cả.
41 Thou schalt gendre sones and douytris, and thou schalt not vse hem; for thei schulen be led in to caitifte.
Anh em sinh con nhưng sẽ không có con ở với mình, vì chúng nó bị bắt đi làm nô lệ.
42 Rust schal waaste alle thi trees and fruytis of thi lond.
Châu chấu sẽ cắn phá cây cối, mùa màng.
43 A comelyng, that dwellith with thee in the lond, schal stie on thee, and he schal be the hiyere; forsothe thou schalt go doun, and schalt be the lowere.
Người ngoại kiều sống trong nước sẽ được tôn trọng, còn chính anh em sẽ trở nên hèn mọn.
44 He schal leene to thee, and thou schalt not leene to hym; he schal be in to the heed, and thou schalt be in to the tail.
Họ sẽ cho anh em vay, chứ anh em đâu có cho ai vay được. Họ đứng đầu, anh em đứng chót.
45 And alle these cursyngis schulen come on thee, and schulen pursue, and schulen take thee, til thou perische; for thou herdist not the vois of thi Lord God, nether kepist hise comaundementis and cerymonyes, whiche he comaundide to thee.
Những lời nguyền rủa trên sẽ theo đuổi và bắt kịp anh em, cho đến khi anh em bị tuyệt diệt vì không vâng lời Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, không tuân theo giới lệnh của Ngài.
46 And signes, and grete wondris schulen be in thee, and in thi seed, til in to withouten ende;
Những lời nguyền rủa này sẽ đổ trên anh em và con cháu anh em mãi mãi, đó là một điềm dữ, một điều kinh khiếp hãi hùng.
47 for thou seruedist not thi Lord God in the ioye and gladnesse of herte, for the abundaunce of alle thingis.
Khi được thịnh vượng, anh em không hết lòng phục vụ Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em,
48 Thou schalt serue thin enemye, whom God schal sende to thee in hungur, and thirst, and nakidnesse, and in pouert of alle thingis; and he schal putte an yrun yok on thi nol, til he al to-breke thee.
cho nên Ngài sẽ bắt anh em phục dịch quân thù trong cảnh đói khát, trần truồng, thiếu thốn đủ mọi phương diện: Ngài tra ách bằng sắt vào cổ anh em cho đến ngày anh em bị tiêu diệt.
49 The Lord schal brynge on thee a folk fro fer place, and fro the laste endis of erthe, in to the licnesse of an egle fleynge with bire, of which folc thou maist not vnderstonde the langage;
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ dẫn một dân tộc từ nơi xa xôi đến đánh anh em đột ngột như phượng hoàng tấn công. Họ nói một thứ tiếng anh em không hiểu,
50 a folk moost greedi axere, that schal not yyue reuerence to an elde man, nethir haue mercy on a litil child.
vẻ mặt họ hung dữ, họ không trọng người già, không quý người trẻ.
51 And schal deuoure the fruyt of thi beestis, and the fruytis of thi lond, til thou perischist, and schal not leeue to thee wheete, wyn, and oile, droues of oxun, and flockis of scheep,
Họ sẽ ăn hết súc vật, mùa màng của anh em, chẳng để lại cho anh em thứ gì cả, dù là ngũ cốc, rượu, dầu hay bò, chiên.
52 til he leese thee, and al to-breke in alle thi citees, and til thi sadde and hiye wallis be distried, in whiche thou haddist trust in al thi lond. Thou schalt be bisegid withynne thi yatis in al thi lond, which thi Lord God schal yyue to thee.
Họ sẽ vây hãm các thành, phá vỡ các tường thành cao và kiên cố, là những tường thành anh em từng tin tưởng. Chúng sẽ vây hãm khắp xứ mà Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời anh em ban cho anh em.
53 And thou schalt ete the fruyt of thi wombe, and the fleischis of thi sones, and of thi douytris, whiche thi Lord God schal yyue to thee, in the angwisch and distriyng, bi which thin enemye schal oppresse thee.
Trong cảnh bị vây hãm quẫn bách, có người phải ăn cả thịt con mình là con Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, ban cho anh em.
54 A man delicat of lijf, and `ful letcherouse, schal haue enuye to his brother, and wijf that liggith in his bosum,
Một người đàn ông dù mềm mỏng, tế nhị nhất cũng trở nên bủn xỉn, keo cú với anh em, vợ con còn sống sót.
55 lest he yyue to hem of the fleischis of hise sones whiche he schal ete; for he hath noon other thing in biseging and pouert, bi which thin enemyes schulen waaste thee with ynne alle thi yatis.
Trong cảnh bị vây hãm đói khổ, người ấy không muốn chia sẻ thức ăn mình có, đó là thịt của con mình.
56 A tendur womman and delicat, that myyte not go on the erthe, nether set a step of foot, for most softnesse and tendirnesse, schal haue enuye to hir hosebonde that liggith in hir bosum, on the fleischis of sone and douyter,
Một người đàn bà dù mềm mỏng, tế nhị đến nỗi không dám giẫm chân lên đất, lúc ấy cũng phải từ chối, không chia thức ăn của mình cho chồng con,
57 and on the filthe of skynnes, wherynne the child is wlappid in the wombe, that gon out of the myddis of hir `scharis, ethir hipe bonys, and on fre children that ben borun in the same our. Thei schulen ete `tho children priueli, for the scarsete of alle thingis in bisegyng and distriyng, bi which thin enemy schal oppresse thee with ynne thi yatis.
giấu kín đứa con mới sinh và cái nhau để ăn một mình, vì quân thù vây thành quẫn bách quá.
58 No but thou schalt kepe and do alle the wordis of this lawe, that ben writun in this volym, `ether book, and schalt drede his gloriouse name and ferdful, that is thi Lord God,
Nếu anh em không tuân theo mọi luật lệ chép trong sách này, không kính sợ uy danh vinh quang của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em,
59 the Lord schal encreese thi woundis, and the woundis of thi seed; grete woundis and contynuel, sikenessis worste and euerlestinge.
thì Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ cho anh em và con cháu anh em gặp những tai họa, bệnh hoạn nặng nề và dai dẳng.
60 And he schal turne in to thee alle the turmentyngis of Egipt, whiche thou dreddist, and tho schulen cleue to thee.
Ngài cũng để anh em mắc những bệnh người Ai Cập phải chịu trước kia, là những bệnh anh em rất sợ và không ai chạy chữa gì nổi.
61 Ferthermore the Lord schal brynge on thee also alle the sorewis and woundis, that ben not writun in the volym of this lawe, til he al to-breke thee.
Chúa Hằng Hữu còn bắt anh em mang mọi thứ bệnh không được ghi trong sách này, cho đến ngày anh em bị tiêu diệt.
62 And ye schulen dwelle fewe in noumbre, that weren bifore as the sterris of heuene for multitude, for thou herdist not the vois of thi Lord God.
Dù anh em vốn đông như sao trời, chỉ một ít người còn sống sót, vì anh em không vâng lời Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em.
63 And as the Lord was glad bifore on you, and dide wel to you, and multipliede you; so he schal be glad, `and schal leese, and distrie you, that ye be takun awei fro the lond, to which thou schalt entre to welde.
Chúa Hằng Hữu đã vui lòng làm cho anh em gia tăng dân số và thịnh vượng thế nào, lúc ấy Chúa Hằng Hữu cũng vui lòng tàn phá, tiêu diệt anh em thế ấy, và anh em sẽ bị trừ tiệt khỏi đất mình đang chiếm hữu.
64 The Lord schal leese thee in to alle puplis, fro the hiynesse of erthe `til to the termes therof; and thou schalt serue there to alien goddis, whiche thou knowist not, and thi fadris `knowen not, to trees and stoonys.
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ phân tán anh em khắp nơi trên mặt đất, cho sống với những dân tộc khác. Tại những nơi ấy, anh em sẽ thờ cúng các thần khác, những thần bằng gỗ, bằng đá trước kia anh em và các tổ tiên chưa hề biết.
65 Also thou schalt not reste in tho folkis, nether rest schal be to the step of thi foot. For the Lord schal yyue to thee there a ferdful herte, and iyen failynge, and lijf waastyd with morenyng.
Tại những nước ấy, anh em không được yên nghỉ, nhưng Chúa sẽ cho anh em trái tim run rẩy, đôi mắt mờ lòa, tinh thần suy nhược.
66 And thi lijf schal be as hangynge bifore thee; thou schalt drede in nyyt and dai, and thou schal not bileue to thi lijf.
Mạng sống của anh em không được bảo toàn, đêm ngày phập phồng lo sợ.
67 In the morewtid thou schalt seie, Who schal yyue the euentid to me? and in the euentid `thou schalt seie, Who schal yyue the morewtid to me? for the drede of thin herte, bi which thou schalt be maad aferd, and for tho thingis whiche thou schalt see with thin iyen.
Buổi sáng, anh em sẽ nói: ‘Ước gì đêm đến!’ Buổi tối lại nói: ‘Ước gì trời sáng!’ Vì lòng đầy lo sợ, vì những điều mắt mình chứng kiến.
68 The Lord schal lede thee ayen bi schipis in to Egipt, by the weie of which he seide to thee, that thou schuldist no more se it. There thou schalt be seeld to thin enemyes, in to seruauntis and `hand maidis; and noon schal be that schal delyuere thee.
Rồi, Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ chở anh em trở lại Ai Cập bằng tàu bè, một chuyến đi tôi đã bảo anh em chẳng bao giờ nên đi. Tại Ai Cập, anh em sẽ bán mình cho kẻ thù làm nô lệ, nhưng chẳng ai mua.”
