2 Kings 2
1 Forsothe it was don, whanne the Lord wolde reise Elie bi a whirlewynd in to heuene, Elie and Elisee yeden fro Galgalis.
Justo antes de que el Señor se llevara a Elías al cielo en un torbellino, Elías y Eliseo caminaban juntos en su camino desde Gilgal.
2 And Elie seide to Elisee, Sitte thou here, for the Lord sente me til into Bethel. To whom Elisee seide, The Lord lyueth and thi soule lyueth, for Y schal not forsake thee. And whanne thei hadden come doun to Bethel,
Y Elías le dijo a Eliseo: “Por favor, quédate aquí, porque el Señor me ha enviado a Betel”. Pero Eliseo respondió: “Vive el Señor y vives tú, no te dejaré”. Así que se fueron a Betel.
3 the sones of prophetis, that weren in Bethel, yeden out to Elisee, and seiden to hym, Whether thou knowist, that the Lord schal take awey thi lord to dai fro thee? Which answeride, And I knowe; be ye stille.
Los hijos de los profetas que vivían en Betel se acercaron a Eliseo y le dijeron: “Sabes que el Señor te va a quitar hoy a tu señor, ¿no?”. “Sí, lo sé”, respondió. “No hables de ello”.
4 Forsothe Elie seide to Elisee, Sitte thou here, for the Lord sente me into Jerico. And he seide, The Lord lyueth and thi soule lyueth, for Y schal not forsake thee. And whanne thei hadden come to Jerico,
Entonces Elías le dijo: “Quédate aquí, Eliseo, porque el Señor me ha enviado a Jericó”. Él respondió: “Vive el Señor y vives tú, no te dejaré”. Así que fueron a Jericó.
5 the sones of prophetis, that weren in Jerico, neiyiden to Elisee, and seiden to hym, Whether thou knowist, that the Lord schal take awei thi lord to dai fro thee? And he seide, Y knowe; be ye stille.
Los hijos de los profetas que vivían en Jericó se acercaron a Eliseo y le dijeron: “Sabes que el Señor te va a quitar hoy a tu señor, ¿no?”. “Sí, lo sé”, respondió. “No hables de ello”.
6 Forsothe Elie seide to Elisee, Sitte thou here, for the Lord sente me `til to Jordan. Which seide, The Lord lyueth and thi soule lyueth, for Y schal not forsake thee. Therfor bothe yeden togidere;
Entonces Elías le dijo: “Quédate aquí, Eliseo, porque el Señor me ha enviado al Jordán”. Él respondió: “Vive el Señor y vives tú, no te dejaré”. Así que siguieron viajando juntos.
7 and fifti men of the sones of prophetis sueden, which also stoden fer euen ayens; sothely thei bothe stoden ouer Jordan.
Entonces un grupo de cincuenta de los hijos de los profetas fue y se puso frente a Elías y Eliseo a cierta distancia, mientras los dos estaban junto al Jordán.
8 And Elie took his mentil, and wlappide it, and smoot the watris; whiche weren departid `into euer ethir part, and bothe yeden bi the drie.
Elías tomó su manto, lo enrolló y golpeó el agua. Se dividió a un lado y al otro y ambos cruzaron en seco.
9 And whanne thei hadden passid, Elie seide to Elisee, Axe thou that, that thou wolt that Y do to thee, bifor that Y be takun awey fro thee. And Elisee seide, Y biseche, that thi double spirit be `maad in me.
Cuando llegaron al otro lado, Elías le preguntó a Eliseo: “¿Qué puedo hacer por ti antes de ser llevado?”. “Por favor, dame una cantidad doble de tu espíritu”, respondió Eliseo.
10 Which Elie answeride, Thou axist an hard thing; netheles if thou schalt se me, whanne Y schal be takun awei fro thee, that that thou axidist schal be; sotheli, if thou schalt not se, it schal not be.
“Lo que has pedido es difícil”, respondió Elías. “Pero si me ves cuando me quiten de ti, lo tendrás, si no, no”.
11 And whanne thei yeden, and spaken goynge, lo! a chare of fier and horsys of fier departiden euer either; and Elie stiede bi a whirlewynd in to heuene.
Mientras caminaban hablando, un carro de fuego y caballos de fuego se interpuso entre ellos, y Elías fue llevado en el torbellino al cielo.
12 Forsothe Elise siy, and criede, My fadir! my fadir! the chare of Israel, and the charietere therof. And he siy no more Elie. And he took hise clothis, and to-rente tho in to twei partis.
Eliseo vio lo ocurrido y gritó: “¡Padre mío! ¡Padre mío! ¡Mira! ¡Los carros y los jinetes de Israel!” Entonces Eliseo ya no pudo verlo. Tomó sus ropas y las hizo pedazos.
13 And he reiside the mentil of Elie, that felde doun to hym; and he turnede ayen, and stood ouer the ryuer of Jordan.
Entonces Eliseo recogió el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y regresó y se puso a la orilla del Jordán.
14 And with the mentil of Elie, that felde doun to hym, he smoot the watris, whiche weren not departid. And he seide, Where is God of Elie also now? And he smoot the watris, and tho weren departid hidur and thidur; and Elisee passide.
Tomó el manto de Elías que se le había caído, golpeó el agua y gritó: “¿Dónde está el Señor, el Dios de Elías?”. Cuando golpeó el agua, ésta se dividió hacia un lado y hacia el otro y Eliseo cruzó.
15 Sotheli the sones of prophetis, that weren in Jerico euene ayens, siyen, and seiden, The spirit of Elie restide on Elisee. And thei camen in to the meetyng of hym, and worschipiden hym lowli to erthe.
Los hijos de los profetas que vivían en Jericó lo vieron desde el lado opuesto y gritaron: “¡El espíritu de Elías descansa ahora sobre Eliseo!” Fueron a su encuentro y se postraron en el suelo ante él.
16 And thei seiden to hym, Lo! with thi seruauntis ben fifti stronge men, that moun go, and seke thi lord, lest perauenture the Spirit of the Lord hath take hym, and hath cast forth hym in oon of the hillis, ethir in oon of the valeys.
“Mira”, le dijeron a Eliseo, “nosotros, tus siervos, tenemos aquí cincuenta hombres buenos. Por favor, permíteles ir a buscar a tu amo. Tal vez el Espíritu del Señor se lo ha llevado y lo ha puesto en una montaña o en un valle en alguna parte”. “No te molestes en enviarlos”, respondió Eliseo.
17 Which seide, `Nyle ye sende. And thei constreyneden hym, til he assentide to hem, and seide, Sende ye. And thei senten fifti men; and whanne thei hadden souyt bi thre daies, thei founden not.
Pero ellos siguieron tratando de persuadirlo hasta que se sintió demasiado avergonzado para decir que no. “Adelante, envíenlos”, les dijo. Así que enviaron a cincuenta hombres, que buscaron a Elías durante tres días, pero no pudieron encontrarlo.
18 And thei turneden ayen to hym; and he dwelide in Jerico. And he seide to hem, Whether Y seide not to you, Nyle ye sende?
Cuando regresaron a Eliseo, que se encontraba en Jericó, éste les dijo: “¿No les dije que no se molestaran en ir?”
19 Therfor the men of the citee seiden to Elisee, Lo! the dwellyng of this cite is ful good, as thou thi silf, lord, seest; but the watris ben ful yuele, and the lond is bareyn.
La gente del pueblo le dijo a Eliseo: “Mira, señor, aunque nuestro pueblo tiene una buena ubicación, como puedes ver, el agua es mala y la tierra es pobre”.
20 And he seide, Brynge ye to me a newe vessel, and sende ye salt in to it. And whanne thei hadden brouyt it,
“Tráiganme un cuenco nuevo y pónganle sal”, respondió él. Así que se lo trajeron.
21 he yede out to the welle of watris, and sente salt in to it, and seide, The Lord seith these thingis, Y haue helid these watris, and nethir deeth, nether bareynesse, schal be more in tho.
Entonces Eliseo fue al manantial, echó la sal en él y dijo: “Esto es lo que dice el Señor: ‘He purificado esta agua. Ya no causará muertes ni abortos’”.
22 Therfor the watris weren heelid til in to this dai, bi the word of Elisee, which he spak.
El agua de allí sigue siendo pura hasta el día de hoy, tal como dijo Eliseo que sería.
23 Forsothe Elisee stiede fro thennus in to Bethel; and whanne he stiede bi the weie, litle children yeden out of the citee, and scorneden hym, and seiden, Stie, thou ballard! stie, thou ballard!
Eliseo siguió desde allí hasta Betel. Cuando iba por el camino, llegó un grupo de jóvenes del pueblo. Se burlaron de él, gritando: “¡Sube, calvo! ¡Sube, calvo!”
24 And whanne he hadde biholde, he siy hem, and curside hem in the name of the Lord. And twey beeris yeden out of the forest, and to-rente fourti children of hem.
Volviéndose, los miró y lanzó una maldición sobre ellos en nombre del Señor. De repente, dos osos hembras salieron del bosque y mutilaron a cuarenta y dos de ellos.
25 Sotheli Elisee wente fro thennus in to the hil of Carmele, and fro thennus he turnede `ayen to Samarie.
Eliseo continuó hasta el monte Carmelo, y desde allí volvió a Samaria.
