2 Kings 18
1 In the thridde yeer of Osee, sone of Hela, kyng of Israel, regnyde Ezechie, sone of Achaz, kyng of Juda.
Vào năm thứ ba, đời Ô-sê, con Ê-la, vua Ít-ra-ên, Ê-xê-chia, con A-cha lên ngôi làm vua Giu-đa
2 He was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Abisa, douyter of Zacharie.
lúc hai mươi lăm tuổi, và trị vì hai mươi chín năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua là A-bi, con gái Xa-cha-ri.
3 And he dide that, that was good bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis, which Dauid, his fadir, hadde do.
Ê-xê-chia làm điều thiện trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu theo gương Đa-vít tổ tiên vua.
4 And he distriede hiye places, and al to-brak ymagis, and kittide doun wodis, and he brak the brasun serpent, whom Moyses hadde maad; for `til to that tyme the sones of Israel brenten encense to it; and he clepide the name therof Noestam.
Vua phá hủy các miếu trên đồi, đập gãy các trụ thờ, đốn ngã các tượng A-sê-ra, bẻ nát con rắn đồng Môi-se đã làm, vì lúc ấy, người Ít-ra-ên dâng hương thờ nó, gọi nó là Nê-hu-tan.
5 And he hopide in the Lord God of Israel; therfor aftir hym noon was lijk hym of alle the kyngis of Juda, but `and nether in tho kyngis that weren bifor hym.
Ê-xê-chia hết lòng tin cậy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, hơn bất cứ một vua Giu-đa nào khác, kể cả các vua đời trước lẫn đời sau.
6 And he cleuyde to the Lord, and yede not awei fro hise steppis, and he dide the comaundementis of the Lord, whiche the Lord comaundide to Moises;
Vua giữ lòng trung tín với Chúa Hằng Hữu, tuân giữ các điều răn Ngài truyền cho Môi-se.
7 wherfor and the Lord was with hym, and he gouernede wiseli hym silf in alle thingis, to whiche he yede forth. Also he rebellide ayens the kyng of Assiriens, and therfor he seruede not to `that kyng of Asseriens;
Vì thế, Chúa Hằng Hữu ở với vua, cho vua thành công trong mọi công việc. Một mặt, Ê-xê-chia chống nghịch vua A-sy-ri, không chịu thần phục nữa;
8 and he smoot Philisteis `til to Gazam, and alle the termes of hem, fro the tour of keperis `til to a citee maad strong.
mặt khác, vua đi đánh quân Phi-li-tin đến tận Ga-xa và vùng phụ cận, hủy phá các thành lũy kiên cố cho đến các vọng canh.
9 In the fourthe yeer of kyng Ezechie, that was the seuenthe yeer of Osee, sone of Hela, kyng of Israel, Salmanazar, kyng of Assiriens, stiede to Samarie,
Việc Sanh-ma-na-sa, vua A-sy-ri vây thành Sa-ma-ri xảy ra vào năm thứ tư đời Ê-xê-chia, tức năm thứ bảy đời Ô-sê, vua Ít-ra-ên.
10 and fauyt ayens it, and took it. For after thre yeer, in the sixte yeer of Ezechie, that is, in the nynthe yeer of Osee, kyng of Israel, Samarie was takun;
Ba năm sau, vào năm thứ sáu đời Ê-xê-chia, năm thứ chín đời Ô-sê, Sa-ma-ri thất thủ.
11 and the kyng of Assiriens translatide Israel in to Assiriens, and settyde hem in Haila, and in Habor, ryueris of Gozam, in the citees of Medeis;
Đó là lúc vua A-sy-ri bắt người Ít-ra-ên đem qua A-sy-ri, đày họ đến Cha-la, đến bờ sông Cha-bo ở Gô-xan và các thành trong nước Mê-đi.
12 for thei herden not the vois of her Lord God, but thei braken his couenaunt; thei herden not, nether diden alle thingis, whiche Moises, the seruaunt of the Lord, comaundide.
Lý do vì họ không vâng lời Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời mình, vi phạm giao ước đã kết với Ngài, bất chấp luật lệ Môi-se, đầy tớ Ngài.
13 In the fourtenthe yeer of kyng Ezechie, Senacherub, kyng of Assiryens, stiede to alle the strengthide citees of Juda, and took tho.
Vào năm thứ mười bốn đời Ê-xê-chia, San-chê-ríp, vua A-sy-ri đem quân đánh chiếm tất cả thành kiên cố của Giu-đa.
14 Thanne Ezechie, kyng of Juda, sente messangeris to the kyng of Assiriens in to Lachis, and seide, Y haue synned; go awei fro me, and Y schal bere `al thing, which thou schalt putte to me. Therfor the kyng of Asseriens puttide on Ezechie, kyng of Juda, thre hundrid talentis of siluer, and thretti talentis of gold.
Ê-xê-chia sai sứ giả đến La-ki nói với vua A-sy-ri: “Tôi có lỗi. Thỉnh cầu vua rút quân, tôi xin thực hiện mọi điều khoản vua đòi hỏi.” Vua A-sy-ri đòi mười một tấn bạc và một tấn vàng.
15 And Ezechie yaf al the siluer, that was foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the kyngis tresories.
Ê-xê-chia đem nạp tất cả số bạc trong đền thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu và trong kho hoàng gia.
16 In that tyme Ezechie brak the yatis of the temple of the Lord, and the platis of gold, whiche he hadde fastned, and he yaf tho to the kyng of Assiriens.
Ê-xê-chia phải bóc vàng chính vua đã bọc cửa và trụ cửa Đền Thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu trước kia, để nạp cho vua A-sy-ri.
17 Forsothe the kyng of Assiriens sente Thercha and Rabsaces fro Lachis to kyng Ezechie, with strong hond to Jerusalem; and whanne thei hadden stied, thei camen to Jerusalem, and stoden bisidis the water cundijt of the hiyere cisterne, which is in the weie of the fullere, `ethir toukere.
Tuy nhiên, vua A-sy-ri vẫn sai các tướng lãnh của mình từ La-ki kéo một đạo quân hùng mạnh đến giao chiến cùng Vua Ê-xê-chia tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Họ dừng chân cạnh cống cho ngựa uống nước trong ao trên, gần con đường dẫn đến đồng thợ giặt.
18 And thei clepiden the kyng; sotheli Eliachym, sone of Elchie, the souereyn of the hows, and Sobna, scryueyn, and Joahe, chaunseler, the sone of Asaph, yeden out to hem.
Họ đòi hội kiến Vua Ê-xê-chia, nhưng vua không tiếp mà lại sai thuộc hạ của mình là Quan Quản lý hoàng cung Ê-li-a-kim, con Hinh-kia, Tổng Thư ký Sép-na; và Ngự sử Giô-a, con A-sáp, ra gặp họ.
19 And Rabsaces seide to hem, Speke ye to Ezechie, The grete kyng, the kyng of Assiriens, seith these thingis, What is this trist, in which thou enforsist?
Quan chỉ huy của Vua A-sy-ri bảo họ nói thông điệp này với Ê-xê-chia: “Đây là điều đại đế A-sy-ri sai ta truyền lệnh với vua Ê-xê-chia: Điều gì khiến ngươi tin tưởng chắc chắn như thế?
20 In hap thou hast take counsel, that thou woldist make thee redi to batel. In whom tristist thou, that thou be hardi to rebelle?
Ngươi nghĩ rằng chỉ vào lời nói có thể thay thế đội quân tinh nhuệ và hùng mạnh sao? Vua dựa vào ai để chống lại ta?
21 Whethir thou hopist in a `staf of rehed and brokun, Egipt, on which, if a man lenith, it schal be brokun, and schal entre in to hys hond, and schal peerse it? So is Farao, kyng of Egipt, to alle men that tristen on hym.
Dựa vào Ai Cập chăng? Này, ngươi dựa vào Ai Cập, như dựa vào cây sậy đã gãy, ai dựa vào sẽ bị đâm lủng tay. Pha-ra-ôn, vua Ai Cập cũng như vậy đối với người nhờ cậy hắn!
22 That if thou seist to me, We han trist in `oure Lord God; whether this is not he, whos hiye thingis and auteris Ezechie took awei, and comaundide to Juda and to Jerusalem, Ye schulen worschipe bifor this auter in Jerusalem?
Có lẽ vua sẽ nói: ‘Chúng tôi trông cậy Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời chúng tôi!’ Nhưng chẳng lẽ Chúa không biết người lăng mạ Ngài là Ê-xê-chia sao? Không phải Ê-xê-chia đã phá bỏ các nơi thờ phượng và các bàn thờ của Ngài và bắt mọi người trong Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem chỉ được quỳ lạy trước một bàn thờ duy nhất trong Giê-ru-sa-lem sao?
23 Now therfor passe ye to my lord, the kyng of Assiriens, and Y schal yyue to you twei thousynde of horsis, and se ye, whether ye moun haue rideris of `tho horsis?
Ta cho người biết việc này! Hãy đánh cuộc với chủ của ta, là vua nước A-sy-ri. Ta sẽ cho vua 2.000 con ngựa nếu ngươi có thể tìm được 2.000 kỵ binh!
24 And hou moun ye withstonde bifor o prince of the leste seruauntis of my lord? Whether thou hast trist in Egipt, for charis and knyytis?
Với quân đội nhỏ bé của ngươi, lẽ nào ngươi nghĩ ngươi có thể chống lại dù là một tướng yếu nhất trong thuộc hạ của chủ ta, hay dù ngươi cậy vào các quân xa và các kỵ binh của Ai Cập?
25 Whether Y stiede with outen `Goddis wille to this place, that Y schulde distrie it? `The Lord seide to me, `Stie thou to this lond, and distrie thou it.
Còn nữa, ngươi nghĩ rằng nếu không có lệnh của Chúa Hằng Hữu, chúng ta dám xâm chiếm xứ này sao? Chính Chúa Hằng Hữu đã bảo chúng ta rằng: ‘Hãy tấn công xứ này và tiêu diệt nó!’”
26 Forsothe Eliachym, sone of Elchie, and Sobna, and Joahe, seiden to Rabsaces, We preien, that thou speke bi the langage of Sirie to vs, thi seruauntis; for we vndirstondun this langage; and that thou speke not to vs bi the langage of Juwis, while the puple herith, which is on the wal.
Nghe đến đây, Ê-li-a-kim, con của Hinh-kia, cùng với Sép-na và Giô-a nói với trưởng quan A-ry-si: “Xin ông làm ơn nói với chúng tôi bằng tiếng A-ram, chúng tôi hiểu tiếng ấy. Xin đừng nói tiếng Hê-bơ-rơ, e rằng những người trên thành nghe được.”
27 And Rabsaces answeride, `and seide, Whethir my lord sente me to thi lord and to thee, that Y schulde speke these wordis, and not rather to the men `that sitten on the wal, that thei ete her toordis, and drynke her pisse with you?
Nhưng trưởng quan San-chê-ríp đáp: “Ngươi nghĩ rằng chủ ta chỉ gửi thông điệp này cho ngươi và chủ ngươi thôi sao? Người còn muốn tất cả dân chúng đều nghe được, vì khi chúng ta vây hãm thành này thì họ sẽ cũng chịu khổ với ngươi. Các ngươi sẽ đói và khát đến nỗi ăn phân và uống nước tiểu của chính mình.”
28 Therfor Rabsaces stood, and criede with greet vois bi langage of Jewis, and seide, Here ye the wordis of the greet kyng, the kyng of Assiriens.
Rồi vị trưởng quan đứng dậy và dùng tiếng Hê-bơ-rơ nói lớn cho dân trên tường thành nghe: “Hãy nghe thông điệp từ đại đế A-sy-ri!
29 The kyng seith these thingis, Ezechie disceyue not you, for he may not delyuere you fro myn hond;
Đây là điều vua nói: Đừng để Ê-xê-chia đánh lừa các ngươi. Ông ấy không có khả năng bảo vệ các ngươi đâu.
30 nether yyue he trist to you on the Lord, and seie, The Lord delyuerynge schal delyuere vs, and this citee shal not be bitakun in the hond of the kyng of Assiriens;
Đừng để ông ấy dụ các ngươi trông cậy vào Chúa Hằng Hữu bằng cách nói rằng: ‘Chắc chắn Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ giải cứu chúng ta. Thành này sẽ không bao giờ rơi vào tay vua A-sy-ri.’
31 nyle ye here Ezechie. For the kyng of Assiriens seith these thingis, Do ye with me that, that is profitable to you, and go ye out to me; and eche man schal ete of his vyner, and of his fige tree, and ye schulen drynke watris of youre cisternes,
Đừng nghe theo Ê-xê-chia! Đây là điều vua A-sy-ri cam kết: Hãy thiết lập hòa bình với ta—hãy mở cửa thành và bước ra ngoài. Mỗi người trong các ngươi vẫn được tiếp tục ăn trái nho và trái vả của mình, cùng uống nước giếng của mình.
32 til Y come, and translate you in to a lond which is lijk youre lond, in to a fruytful lond, and plenteuouse of wyn, a lond of breed, and of vineris, a lond of olyue trees, and of oile, and of hony; and ye schulen lyue, and ye schulen not die. Nyle ye here Ezechie, that disseyueth you, and seith, The Lord schal delyuere yow.
Ta sẽ sắp đặt cho các ngươi một vùng đất khác giống như vậy—là xứ sở của thóc lúa và rượu mới, bánh mì, những vườn nho, ô-liu và mật ong. Các ngươi sẽ có bánh ăn, rượu uống, sống không thiếu thứ gì, lại còn khỏi vạ diệt vong! Đừng tin lời Ê-xê-chia gạt gẫm, bảo rằng: ‘Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ giải cứu chúng ta!’
33 Whether the goddis of hethene men delyueriden her lond fro the hond of the kyng of Assiriens?
Thử nhìn các nước khác xem có thần nào cứu họ khỏi tay vua A-sy-ri được đâu.
34 Where is god of Emath, and of Arphat? Where is god of Sapharuaym, of Ana, and of Aua? Whether thei delyueriden Samarie fro myn hond?
Thần của các dân tộc Ha-mát, Ạt-bát, Sê-phạt-va-im, Hê-na, và Y-va đã làm được gì? Các thần ấy có tiếp cứu Sa-ma-ri được không?
35 For who ben thei in alle goddis of londis, that delyueriden her cuntrey fro myn hond, that the Lord may delyuere Jerusalem fro myn hoond?
Có thần của nước nào đã cứu nước ấy khỏi tay ta chưa? Như thế làm sao Chúa Hằng Hữu cứu Giê-ru-sa-lem được?”
36 Therfor the puple was stille, and answeride not ony thing to hym; for thei hadden take comaundement of the kyng, that thei schulden not answere to hym.
Một số thường dân nghe Ráp-sa-kê nói, nhưng giữ yên lặng, vì vua ra lệnh không ai được đối đáp với người A-sy-ri.
37 And Eliachym, sone of Elchie, the souereyn of the hows, and Sobna, scryuen, and Joahe, chaunceler, the sone of Asaph, camen with to-rent clothis to Ezechie; and telden to hym the wordis of Rabsaces.
Rồi Ê-li-a-kim, con Hinh-kia, quản đốc hoàng cung; Sép-na, quan ký lục; và Giô-a, con A-sáp, quan ngự sử, trở về cung Ê-xê-chia. Họ xé áo mình rồi đến gặp vua và kể lại những gì các trưởng quan của A-sy-ri đã nói.
