2 Kings 14
1 Yn the secounde yeer of Joas, sone of Joachas, kyng of Israel, Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, regnyde.
Năm thứ hai đời Giô-ách, con Giô-a-cha, vua Ít-ra-ên, A-ma-xia, con Giô-ách lên ngôi làm vua Giu-đa.
2 Amasie was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne; forsothe he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Joade of Jerusalem.
A-ma-xia được hai mươi lăm tuổi lúc lên ngôi, và cai trị hai mươi chín năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua là Giô-a-đan quê ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.
3 And he dide riytfulnesse bifor the Lord, netheles not as Dauid, his fadir; he dide bi alle thingis whiche Joas, his fadir, dide, no but this oonli,
A-ma-xia làm điều thiện trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, nhưng không sánh bằng Đa-vít, tổ tiên vua. Vua noi gương cha mình là Giô-ách.
4 that he dide not awei hiy thingis; for yit the puple made sacrifice, and brent encence in hiy thingis.
Tuy nhiên vua vẫn không phá hủy các miếu thờ trên đồi, nên dân chúng vẫn còn cúng tế, và đốt hương tại những nơi ấy.
5 And whanne he hadde gete the rewme, he smoot hise seruauntis, that hadden killid the kyng, his fadir;
Khi đã bình định lãnh thổ và củng cố thế lực, A-ma-xia đem xử tử những người đã ám sát cha mình.
6 but he killide not the sones of hem that hadden slayn `the kyng, bi that that is writun in the book of the lawe of Moyses, as the Lord comaundide to Moises, and seide, Fadris schulen not die for the sones, nethir the sones for the fadris, but eche man schal die in his owne synne.
Nhưng vua không giết con của những người ấy, đúng theo lệnh của Chúa Hằng Hữu được chép trong Sách Luật Môi-se: “Cha sẽ không bị xử tử vì tội của con, và con cũng không bị xử tử vì tội của cha mẹ, nhưng mỗi người chỉ bị xử tử vì tội của mình.”
7 He smoot Edom in the valey of makyngis of salt, `he smoot ten thousynde, and took `the Stoon in batel; and he clepide the name therof Jethel, `til in to present dai.
Trong một trận chiến tại thung lũng Muối, A-ma-xia giết 10.000 quân Ê-đôm và chiếm Sê-la, đổi tên thành là Giốc-then, tên này đến nay vẫn còn.
8 Thanne Amasie sente messangeris to Joas, sone of Joachaz, sone of Hieu, kyng of Israel, and seide, Come thou, and se we vs `in batel.
Sau đó, A-ma-xia sai sứ giả đến thách thức Giô-ách, con của Giô-a-cha, cháu Giê-hu, vua Ít-ra-ên: “Chúng ta thử giao chiến với nhau xem sao.”
9 And Joas, kyng of Israel, sente ayen to Amasie, kyng of Juda, and seide, The cardue, `that is, a low eerbe, and ful of thornes, of the Liban sente to the cedre, which is in the Liban, and seide, Yyue thi douytir wijf to my sone; and the beestis of the forest, that ben in the Liban, passiden, and tredden doun the cardue.
Nhưng Giô-ách vua Ít-ra-ên sai sứ giả trả lời với A-ma-xia, vua Giu-đa: “Tại Li-ban, có một cây gai nhắn lời với cây bá hương: ‘Gả con gái anh cho con trai tôi đi!’ Nhưng có thú rừng đi qua giẫm nát cây gai.
10 Thou hast smyte, and haddist the maistri on Edom, and thin herte hath reisid thee; be thou apaied with glorie, and sitte in thin hows; whi excitist thou yuel, that thou falle, and Juda with thee?
Ngươi đánh bại Ê-đôm rồi sinh lòng kiêu căng. Sao không chịu ở nhà, mãn nguyện với chiến công ấy, lại còn muốn gây họa cho mình và cả nước Giu-đa, để cùng nhau suy sụp?”
11 And Amasie assentide not `to be in pees; and Joas, kyng of Israel, stiede, and he and Amasie, kyng of Juda, sien hem silf in Bethsames, a citee of Juda.
Nhưng A-ma-xia không chịu nghe lời, nên Giô-ách kéo quân lên, giao chiến và đánh bại quân A-ma-xia ở Bết-sê-mết, thuộc đất Giu-đa.
12 And Juda was smytun bifor Israel; and thei fledden ech man in to his tabernaclis.
Quân Giu-đa bỏ chạy về nhà.
13 Sotheli Joas, kyng of Israel, took in Bethsames Amasie, kyng of Juda, the sone of Joas, sone of Ocozie, and brouyte hym in to Jerusalem; and he brak the wal of Jerusalem, fro the yate of Effraym `til to the yate of the corner, bi foure hundrid cubitis.
Giô-ách, vua Ít-ra-ên bắt được A-ma-xia, vua Giu-đa, con Giô-ách, cháu A-cha-xia tại Bết-sê-mết. Rồi Giô-ách tiến đến Giê-ru-sa-lem, phá đổ tường thành dài khoảng 180 mét từ cổng Ép-ra-im cho đến cổng Góc.
14 And he took al the gold and siluer, and alle vessels, that weren foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the tresours of the kyng; and he took ostagis, and turnede ayen in to Samarie.
Giô-ách lấy hết vàng bạc, vật dụng trong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu. Và trong cung vua, bắt nhiều người làm con tin rồi trở về Sa-ma-ri.
15 Sotheli the resydue of wordis of Joas, whiche he dide, and his strengthe, bi which he fauyt ayens Amasie, kyng of Juda, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of dayes of the kyngis of Israel?
Các việc khác của Giô-ách, thế lực của vua, các trận chiến với vua A-ma-xia của Giu-đa đều được chép trong Sách Lịch Sử Các Vua Ít-ra-ên.
16 And Joas slepte with hise fadris, and was biried in Samarie with the kyngis of Israel; and Jeroboam, his sone, regnede for hym.
Giô-ách an giấc với tổ tiên, được chôn tại Sa-ma-ri cùng các vua Ít-ra-ên. Giê-rô-bô-am II, con Giô-ách lên kế vị.
17 Forsothe Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, lyuede fyue and twenti yeer, after that Joas, sone of Joachaz, kyng of Israel, was deed.
Sau khi Giô-ách, con Giô-a-cha, vua Ít-ra-ên mất, A-ma-xia, vua Giu-đa còn sống mười lăm năm nữa.
18 Forsothe the residue of wordis of Amasie, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
Các việc khác của A-ma-xia đều được chép trong Sách Lịch Sử Các Vua Giu-đa.
19 And `sweryng togidir in Jerusalem was maad ayens hym, and he fledde in to Lachis; and thei senten aftir hym in to Lachis, and killiden hym there.
Tại Giê-ru-sa-lem có âm mưu phản loạn, nên A-ma-xia bỏ chạy đi La-ki. Người ta đuổi theo đến La-ki, giết A-ma-xia tại đó.
20 And thei baren out hym in horsis, and he was biried in Jerusalem with hise fadris, in the citee of Dauid.
Xác vua được đặt lên lưng ngựa chở về Giê-ru-sa-lem và được chôn tại Thành Đa-vít cùng với tổ tiên.
21 Forsothe al the puple of Juda took Azarie, hauynge sixtene yeer; and maden hym king for his fadir Amasie.
Toàn dân Giu-đa tôn A-xa-ria lên làm vua thế cho A-ma-xia, cha vua. Lúc ấy A-xa-ria được mười sáu tuổi.
22 And he bildide Ahila, and restoride it to Juda, after that `the kyng slepte with hise fadris.
Sau khi vua cha an giấc với tổ tiên, A-xa-ria xây thành Ê-lát và khôi phục chủ quyền thành này về cho nước Giu-đa.
23 In the fiftenethe yeer of Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, Jeroboam, sone of Joas, kyng of Israel, regnyde in Samarie oon and fourti yeer;
Vào năm thứ mười lăm đời A-ma-xia, con Giô-ách, vua Giu-đa, Giê-rô-bô-am II, con Giô-ách lên làm vua Ít-ra-ên và cai trị bốn mươi mốt năm tại Sa-ma-ri.
24 and dide that, that is yuel bifor the Lord; he yede not awei fro alle the synnes of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, that made Israel to do synne.
Vua làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, không chịu từ bỏ tội lỗi của Giê-rô-bô-am, con Nê-bát, lôi kéo Ít-ra-ên phạm tội theo.
25 He restoride the termes of Israel, fro the entryng of Emath `til to the see of wildirnesse, bi the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spak bi his seruaunt Jonas, sone of Amathi, bi Jonas, the prophete, that was of Jeth, `which Jeth is in Ophir.
Giê-rô-bô-am khôi phục bờ cõi Ít-ra-ên từ Ha-mát đến Biển Chết, đúng như lời Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, đã dùng đầy tớ Ngài là Tiên tri Giô-na, con trai A-mi-tai, người Gát-hê-phe loan báo trước.
26 For the Lord siy the ful bittir turment of Israel, and that thei weren wastid `til to the closid men of prisoun, and the laste men, and `noon was that helpide Israel.
Chúa Hằng Hữu thấy cảnh Ít-ra-ên bị hoạn nạn cay đắng, chẳng còn ai giúp đỡ,
27 And the Lord spak not, that he schulde do awei Israel fro vndur heuene, but he sauyde hem in the hond of Jeroboam, sone of Joas.
nên Ngài dùng Giê-rô-bô-am II, con Giô-ách, giải cứu họ, và Chúa Hằng Hữu không hề có ý định xóa tên Ít-ra-ên trên đất.
28 Forsothe the residue of wordis of Jeroboam, and alle thingis whiche he dide, and the strengthe of hym, bi which he fauyt, and hou he restoride Damask, and Emath of Juda, in Israel, whether these ben not wrytun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Israel?
Các việc khác của Giê-rô-bô-am II, thế lực người, các trận chiến, công cuộc khôi phục chủ quyền Đa-mách và Ha-mát, trước kia bị Giu-đa chiếm, đều được chép trong Sách Lịch Sử Các Vua Ít-ra-ên.
29 And Jeroboam slepte with hise fadris, the kyngis of Israel; and Azarie, his sone, regnede for hym.
Giê-rô-bô-am II an giấc với tổ tiên, được chôn cùng các vua Ít-ra-ên. Xa-cha-ri, con vua lên ngôi kế vị.
