1 Kings 11
1 Forsothe kyng Salomon louyde brennyngli many alien wymmen, and the douytir of Pharao, and wymmen of Moab, and Amonytis, and Ydumeis, and Sydoneis, and Etheis;
Or le Roi Salomon aima plusieurs femmes étrangères, outre la fille de Pharaon; [savoir] des Moabites, des Hammonites, des Iduméènnes, des Sidoniènnes et des Héthiènes;
2 of the folkis of whiche the Lord seide to the sones of Israel, Ye schulen not entre to tho folkis, nether ony of hem schulen entre to you; for most certeynli thei schulen turne awei youre hertis, that ye sue the goddis of hem. Therfor kyng Salomon was couplid to these wymmen, bi moost brennyng loue.
Qui étaient d'entre les nations dont l'Eternel avait dit aux enfants d'Israël: Vous n'irez point vers elles, et elles ne viendront point vers vous; [car] certainement elles feraient détourner votre cœur pour suivre leurs dieux. Salomon s'attacha à elles, et les aima.
3 And wyues as queenys weren seuene hundrid to hym, and thre hundrid secundarie wyues; and the wymmen turneden awey his herte.
Il eut donc sept cents femmes Princesses, et trois cents concubines; et ses femmes firent égarer son cœur.
4 And whanne he was thanne eld, his herte was bischrewid bi wymmen, that he suede alien goddis; and his herte was not perfit with his Lord God, as the herte of Dauid, his fadir, `was perfit.
Car il arriva sur le temps de la vieillesse de Salomon, que ses femmes firent détourner son cœur après d'autres dieux; et son cœur ne fut point droit devant l'Eternel son Dieu, comme avait été le cœur de David son père.
5 But Salomon worschipide Astartes, the goddesse of Sidoneis, and Chamos, the god of Moabitis, and Moloch, the idol of Amonytis;
Et Salomon marcha après Hastaroth, la divinité des Sidoniens, et après Milcom, l'abomination des Hammonites.
6 and Salomon dide that, that pleside not bifor the Lord, and he fillide not that he suede the Lord, as Dauid, his fadir, dide.
Ainsi Salomon fit ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel, et il ne persévéra point à suivre l'Eternel, comme [avait fait] David son père.
7 Thanne Salomon bildide a temple to Chamos, the idol of Moab, in the hil which is ayens Jerusalem, and to Moloch, the idol of the sones of Amon.
Et Salomon bâtit un haut lieu à Kémos, l'abomination des Moabites, sur la montagne qui est vis-à-vis de Jérusalem; et à Molec, l'abomination des enfants de Hammon.
8 And bi this maner he dide to alle hise alien wyues, that brenten encencis, and offriden to her goddis.
Il en fit de même pour toutes ses femmes étrangères, qui faisaient des encensements et qui sacrifiaient à leurs dieux.
9 Therfor the Lord was wrooth to Salomon, for his soule was turned awei fro the Lord God of Israel; that apperide to Salomon the secounde tyme,
C'est pourquoi l'Eternel fut irrité contre Salomon, parce qu'il avait détourné son cœur de l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël, qui lui était apparu deux fois;
10 and comaundide of this word, that he schulde not sue alien goddis; and he kepte not tho thingis, whiche the Lord comaundide to hym.
Et qui même lui avait fait ce commandement exprès, qu'il ne marchât point après d'autres dieux; mais il ne garda point ce que l'Eternel lui avait commandé.
11 Therfor the Lord seide to Salomon, For thou haddist this thing anentis thee, and keptist not my couenaunt, and myn heestis, whiche Y comaundide to thee, Y schal breke, and Y schal departe thi rewme, and Y schal yyue it to thi seruaunt.
Et l'Eternel dit à Salomon: Parce que ceci a été en toi, que tu n'as pas gardé mon alliance et mes ordonnances que je t'avais prescrites, certainement je déchirerai le Royaume, afin qu'il ne soit plus à toi, et je le donnerai à ton serviteur.
12 Netheles Y schal not do in thi daies, for Dauid, thi fadir; Y schal kitte it fro the hond of thi sone;
Toutefois pour l'amour de David ton père je ne le ferai point en ton temps; ce sera d'entre les mains de ton fils que je déchirerai le Royaume.
13 nether Y schal do a wey al the rewme, but Y schal yyue o lynage to thi sone, for Dauid, my seruaunt, and for Jerusalem, which Y chess.
Néanmoins je ne déchirerai pas tout le Royaume, j'en donnerai une Tribu à ton fils, pour l'amour de David mon serviteur, et pour l'amour de Jérusalem, que j'ai choisie.
14 Forsothe the Lord reiside to Solomon an aduersarie, Adad Ydumey, of the kyngis seed, that was in Edom.
L'Eternel donc suscita un ennemi à Salomon, [savoir] Hadad Iduméen, qui était de la race Royale d'Edom.
15 For whanne Dauid was in Ydumee, and Joab, the prince of chyualrie, hadde stied to birie hem that weren slayn, and he hadde slayn ech male kynde in Ydumee;
Car il était arrivé qu'au temps que David était en Edom, lorsque Joab Chef de l'armée monta pour ensevelir ceux qui avaient été tués, comme il tuait tous les mâles d'Edom;
16 for Joab, and al Israel dwelliden there bi sixe monethis, til thei killiden ech male kynde in Ydumee; Adad hym silf fledde,
(Car Joab demeura là six mois avec tout Israël, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût exterminé tous les mâles d'Edom, )
17 and men of Ydumee, of `the seruauntis of his fadir, with hym, that he schulde entre in to Egipt; sotheli Adad was a litil child.
Hadad s'était enfui, avec quelques Iduméens qui étaient d'entre les serviteurs de son père, pour se retirer en Egypte; et Hadad était [alors] fort jeune.
18 And whanne thei hadden rise fro Madian, thei camen in to Faran; and thei token with hem men of Faran, and entriden in to Egipt, to Pharao, kyng of Egipt; which Farao yaf an hows to hym, and ordeynede metis, and assignede lond.
Et quand ils furent partis de Madian, ils vinrent à Paran, et prirent avec eux des gens de Paran, et se retirèrent en Egypte vers Pharaon Roi d'Egypte, qui lui donna une maison, et lui assigna de quoi vivre, et lui donna aussi une terre.
19 And Adad foond grace bifor Farao greetli, in so myche that Farao yaf to hym a wijf, the sister of his wijf, sister of the queen, of Taphnes.
Et Hadad fut fort dans les bonnes grâces de Pharaon, de sorte qu'il le maria à la sœur de sa femme, la sœur de la Reine Tachpenès.
20 And the sistir of Taphnes gendrid to hym a sone, Genebath; and Taphnes nurschide hym in the hows of Farao; and Genebath dwellide bifor Farao, with hise sones.
Et la sœur de Tachpenès lui enfanta son fils Guénubath, que Tachpenès sevra dans la maison de Pharaon. Ainsi Guénubath était de la maison de Pharaon, entre les fils de Pharaon.
21 And whanne Adad hadde herd in Egipt, that Dauid slepte with hise fadris, and that Joab, the prince of chyualrie, was deed, he seide to Farao, Suffre thou me, that Y go in to my lond.
Or quand Hadad eut appris en Egypte que David s'était endormi avec ses pères, et que Joab Chef de l'armée était mort, il dit à Pharaon: Donne-moi [mon] congé, et je m'en irai en mon pays.
22 And Farao seide to hym, For of what thing hast thou nede at me, that thou sekist to go to thi lond? And he answeride, Of no thing; but Y biseche thee, that thou `delyuere me.
Et Pharaon lui répondit: Mais de quoi as-tu besoin étant avec moi, pour demander ainsi de t'en aller en ton pays? et il dit: [Je n'ai besoin] de rien; mais cependant donne-moi mon congé.
23 Also God reiside an aduersarie to Salomon, Rason, sone of Eliadam, that fledde Adadezer, kyng of Soba, his lord;
Dieu suscita aussi un [autre] ennemi à Salomon, [savoir] Rézon fils d'Eljadah, qui s'en était fui d'avec son Seigneur Hadar-hézer, Roi de Tsoba,
24 and gaderide men ayens hym, and was maad the prince of theuys, whanne Dauid killide hem; and thei yeden to Damask, and dwelliden there; and thei maden hym kyng in Damask.
Qui assembla des gens contre lui, et fut Chef de quelques bandes, quand David les défit; et ils s'en allèrent à Damas, et y demeurèrent, et y régnèrent.
25 And he was aduersarie of Israel in alle the daies of Salomon; and this is the yuel of Adad, and the hatrede ayens Israel; and he regnede in Sirie.
[Rézon] donc fut ennemi d'Israël tout le temps de Salomon, outre le mal que fit Hadad; et il donna du chagrin à Israël, et régna sur la Syrie.
26 Also Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, of Effraym of Saredera, the seruaunt of Salomon, of which Jeroboam, a womman widewe, Serua bi name, was modir, reisyde hond ayens the kyng.
Jéroboam aussi fils de Nébat, Ephratien, de Tséréda, dont la mère avait nom Tséruha, femme veuve, serviteur de Salomon, s'éleva contre le Roi.
27 And this was cause of rebelte ayens the kyng; for Salomon bildide Mello, and made euene the swolowe of the citee of Dauid, his fadir.
Et ce fut ici l'occasion pour laquelle il s'éleva contre le Roi; c'est que quand Salomon bâtissait Millo, [et] comblait le creux de la Cité de David son père;
28 Forsothe Jeroboam was a miyti man and strong; and Salomon siy the yong wexynge man of good kynrede, and witti in thingis to be doon, and Salomon made hym `prefect, ether souereyn, on the tributis of al the hows of Joseph.
Là se trouva Jéroboam, qui était un homme fort et vaillant; et Salomon voyant que ce jeune homme travaillait, le commit sur toute la charge de la maison de Joseph.
29 Therfor it was doon in that tyme, that Jeroboam yede out of Jerusalem; and Ahias of Sylo, a profete, hilid with a newe mentil, foond hym in the weie; sotheli thei tweyne weren oneli in the feeld.
Or il arriva en ce même temps, que Jéroboam étant sorti de Jérusalem, Ahija Silonite, Prophète, vêtu d'une robe neuve, le trouva dans le chemin, et ils étaient eux deux tout seuls aux champs.
30 And Ahias took his newe mentil, with which he was hilid, and kittide in to twelue partis;
Et Ahija prit la robe neuve qu'il avait sur lui, et la déchira en douze pièces;
31 and seide to Jeroboam, Take to thee ten kyttyngis; for the Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal kytte the rewme fro the hond of Salomon, and Y schal yyue to thee ten lynagis;
Et il dit à Jéroboam: Prends-en pour toi dix pièces; car ainsi a dit l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël: Voici, je m'en vais déchirer le Royaume d'entre les mains de Salomon, et je t'en donnerai dix Tribus.
32 forsothe o lynage schal dwelle to hym, for Dauid, my seruaunt, and for Jerusalem, the citee which Y chees of alle the lynagis of Israel;
Mais il en aura une Tribu, pour l'amour de David mon serviteur, et pour l'amour de Jérusalem, qui est la ville que j'ai choisie d'entre toutes les Tribus d'Israël.
33 this kittyng schal be; for Salomon forsook me, and worschipide Astartes, goddesse of Sidoneis, and Chamos, the god of Moab, and Moloch, the god of the sones of Amon; and yede not in my weies, that he dide riytwisnesse bifor me, and myn heestis, and my domes, as Dauid, his fadir, dide.
Parce qu'ils m'ont abandonné, et se sont prosternés devant Hastaroth le dieu des Sidoniens, devant Kémos le dieu de Moab, et devant Milcom le dieu des enfants de Hammon, et qu'ils n'ont point marché dans mes voies, pour faire ce qui est droit devant moi, et [pour garder] mes statuts, et mes ordonnances, comme [avait fait] David, père de Salomon.
34 And Y schal not take awey al the rewme fro `his hond, but Y schal putte hym duyk in alle the daies of his lijf, for Dauid, my seruaunt, whom Y chees, which Dauid kepte myn heestis, and my comaundementis.
Toutefois je n'ôterai rien de ce Royaume d'entre ses mains; car tout le temps qu'il vivra je le maintiendrai Prince, pour l'amour de David mon serviteur que j'ai choisi, [et] qui a gardé mes commandements et mes statuts.
35 Sotheli Y schal take awey the rewme fro the hond of `his sone, and Y schal yyue ten lynagis to thee;
Mais j'ôterai le Royaume d'entre les mains de son fils, et je t'en donnerai dix Tribus.
36 forsothe Y schal yyue o lynage to `his sone, that a lanterne dwelle to Dauid, my seruaunt, in alle daies bifor me in Jerusalem, the citee which Y chees, that my name schulde be there.
Et j'en donnerai une Tribu à son fils, afin que David mon serviteur ait une Lampe à toujours devant moi dans Jérusalem, qui est la ville que j'ai choisie pour y mettre mon Nom.
37 Forsothe Y schal take thee, and thou schalt regne on alle thingis whiche thi soule desirith, and thou schalt be kyng on Israel.
Je te prendrai donc, et tu régneras sur tout ce que ton âme souhaitera, et tu seras Roi sur Israël.
38 Therfor if thou schalt here alle thingis whiche Y schal comaunde to thee, and if thou schalt go in my weies, and if thou schalt do that, that is riytful bifore me, and if thou schalt kepe my comaundementis, and myn heestis, as Dauid, my seruaunt, dide, Y schal be with thee, and Y schal bilde a feithful hows to thee, as Y bildide an hows to Dauid, and Y schal yyue Israel to thee;
Et il arrivera que si tu m'obéis en tout ce que je te commanderai, et que tu marches dans mes voies, et que tu fasses tout ce qui est droit devant moi, en gardant mes statuts et mes commandements, comme a fait David mon serviteur, je serai avec toi, et je te bâtirai une maison qui sera stable, comme j'en ai bâti [une] à David, et je te donnerai Israël.
39 and Y schal turmente the seed of Dauid on this thing, netheles not in alle daies.
Ainsi j'affligerai la postérité de David à cause de cela, mais non pas à toujours.
40 Therfor Salomon wolde sle Jeroboam, which roos, and fledde in to Egipt, to Susach, kyng of Egipt; and he was in Egipt `til to the deeth of Salomon.
Salomon donc chercha de faire mourir Jéroboam; mais Jéroboam se leva, et s'enfuit en Egypte vers Sisak Roi d'Egypte; et il demeura en Egypte jusqu'à la mort de Salomon.
41 Forsothe the residue of the wordis of Salomon, and alle thingis whiche he dide, and his wisdom, lo! alle thingis ben writun in the book of wordis of daies of Salomon.
r le reste des faits de Salomon, tout ce qu'il a fait, et sa sagesse, cela n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des faits de Salomon?
42 Sotheli the daies bi whiche Salomon regnede in Jerusalem on al Israel, ben fourti yeer.
Or le temps que Salomon régna à Jérusalem sur tout Israël fut quarante ans.
43 And Salomon slepte with hise fadris, and was biriede in the citee of Dauid, his fadir; and Roboam, his sone, regnede for hym.
Ainsi Salomon s'endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enseveli dans la Cité de David son père; et Roboam son fils régna en sa place.
