1 Thessalonians 4
1 As to what remains therefore, my brethren, we intreat and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received instructions from us, how ye ought to walk and to please God, ye would abound therein more and more.
Hatimaye, ndugu zangu, mmejifunza kutoka kwetu namna mnavyopaswa kuishi ili kumpendeza Mungu. Na kweli mmekuwa mnaishi hivyo. Sasa tunawaombeni na kuwasihi kwa jina la Bwana Yesu mfanye vema zaidi.
2 For ye know what commandments we gave you from the Lord Jesus.
Maana mnayajua yale maagizo tuliyowapeni kwa mamlaka ya Bwana Yesu.
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification: that ye should abstain from fornication,
Mungu anataka ninyi muwe watakatifu na mjiepushe kabisa na maisha ya zinaa.
4 and that every one of you should possess his vessel in sanctification and honor,
Kila mwanamume anapaswa kujua namna ya kuishi na mkewe kwa utakatifu na heshima,
5 not in the passion of lust, like the heathens who know not God.
na si kwa tamaa mbaya kama watu wa mataifa mengine wasiomjua Mungu.
6 That no one over-reach, or wrong his brother in any thing: because the Lord is an avenger of all such crimes, as we also told you before, and testified to you.
Basi, mtu yeyote asimkosee au kumpunja mwenzake kuhusu jambo hili. Tulikwisha waambieni hayo na kuwaonya kwamba Bwana atawaadhibu wanaofanya mambo hayo.
7 For God hath not called us to impurity, but to holiness.
Mungu hakutuita tuishi maisha ya zinaa, bali tuishi katika utakatifu.
8 He therefore who rejecteth us, rejecteth not man, but God; who hath given us his holy Spirit.
Kwa hiyo basi, anayedharau mafundisho hayo hamdharau mtu, bali amdharau Mungu mwenyewe anayewapeni Roho wake Mtakatifu.
9 But as to brotherly love, ye need not that I write unto you; for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
Hakuna haja ya kuwaandikieni juu ya kuwapenda ndugu zenu waumini. Ninyi wenyewe mmefundishwa na Mungu namna mnavyopaswa kupendana.
10 And indeed ye do it to all the brethren, that are in all Macedonia; but we exhort you, brethren, to abound in it more and more:
Na mmekuwa mkiwatendea hivyo ndugu zenu wote kila mahali katika Makedonia. Basi, ndugu tunawaombeni mfanye hata zaidi.
11 and endeavour to be quiet, and mind your own affairs, and work with your own hands,
Muwe na nia ya kuishi maisha ya utulivu, kila mmoja ashughulikie mambo yake mwenyewe na afanye kazi kwa mikono yake mwenyewe kama tulivyowaagiza pale awali.
12 as we gave you in charge, that ye may walk decently toward those that are without, and may have need of no one's assistance.
Kwa namna hiyo mtajipatia sifa nzuri kutoka kwa wale wasio Wakristo, na hamtakuwa na lazima ya kuwategemea wengine kwa mahitaji yenu.
13 But I would not have you ignorant, my brethren, concerning those that are fallen asleep, that ye may not be grieved like others who have no hope:
Ndugu, twataka mjue ukweli kuhusu wale ambao wamekwisha fariki dunia, ili msipatwe na huzuni kama watu wengine wasio na matumaini.
14 for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also those, that sleep in Jesus, will God bring with Him.
Sisi tunaamini kwamba Yesu alikufa, akafufuka; na hivyo sisi tunaamini kwamba Mungu atawaleta pamoja na Yesu wale wote waliofariki wakiwa wanamwamini.
15 For this we tell you in the word of the Lord, that we who shall be living and remain to the coming of the Lord, shall not be before those that are asleep.
Hili tunalowaambieni ni fundisho la Bwana; sisi tulio hai, ambao tutakuwa tumebaki, wakati Bwana atakapokuja, hakika hatutawatangulia wale waliokwisha fariki dunia.
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with acclamation, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;
Maana patatolewa amri, sauti ya malaika mkuu, sauti ya tarumbeta ya Mungu, naye Bwana mwenyewe atashuka kutoka mbinguni. Ndipo wale waliokufa wakiwa wanamwamini Kristo watafufuliwa kwanza.
17 then we who are living and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we for ever be with the Lord.
Kisha sisi tulio hai wakati huo tutakusanywa pamoja nao katika mawingu kumlaki Bwana hewani. Na hivyo tutakuwa daima pamoja na Bwana.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Basi, farijianeni kwa maneno haya.
