< 1 Chronicles 21 >
1 Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to take a census of Israel.
Na rĩrĩ, Shaitani nĩookĩrĩire andũ a Isiraeli, na akĩarahũra Daudi nĩguo atarithie andũ a Isiraeli.
2 David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, “Go, count Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know how many there are.”
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi akĩĩra Joabu na anene a mbũtũ cia ita atĩrĩ: “Thiĩi mũgatare andũ a Isiraeli kuuma Birishiba nginya Dani, mũcooke mũndehere ũhoro nĩguo menye ũrĩa maigana.”
3 Joab said, “May Yahweh make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, aren’t they all my lord’s servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?”
Nowe Joabu akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Jehova aroingĩhia mbũtũ ciake cia ita maita igana. Mwathi wakwa mũthamaki, githĩ othe matirĩ watho-inĩ waku? Nĩ kĩĩ gĩgũtũma mwathi wakwa ende gwĩka ũguo? Nĩ kĩĩ gĩgũtũma ahĩtithie Isiraeli?”
4 Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed and went throughout all Israel, then came to Jerusalem.
No rĩrĩ, mũthamaki agĩkararia Joabu; nĩ ũndũ ũcio Joabu akiuma hau agĩthiĩ Isiraeli guothe, na agĩcooka Jerusalemu.
5 Joab gave the sum of the census of the people to David. All those of Israel were one million one hundred thousand men who drew a sword; and in Judah were four hundred seventy thousand men who drew a sword.
Joabu akĩmenyithia Daudi mũigana wa andũ arĩa maangĩarũire mbaara ta ũũ: Isiraeli guothe kwarĩ na andũ 1,100,000 arĩa maangĩahotire kũhũthĩra rũhiũ rwa njora, thĩinĩ wao haarĩ na andũ 470,000 kuuma Juda.
6 But he didn’t count Levi and Benjamin among them, for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.
No rĩrĩ, Joabu ndaatarire andũ a Lawi na a Benjamini, tondũ watho ũcio wa mũthamaki nĩwamũiguithĩtie ũũru mũno.
7 God was displeased with this thing; therefore he struck Israel.
O na ningĩ watho ũcio warĩ mũũru maitho-inĩ ma Ngai; nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩherithia Isiraeli.
8 David said to God, “I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing. But now put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly.”
Hĩndĩ ĩyo Daudi akĩĩra Ngai atĩrĩ, “Nĩnjĩhĩtie mũno nĩ gwĩka ũndũ ũyũ. Rĩu ndagũthaitha ũnjehererie mahĩtia, niĩ ndungata yaku. Nĩnjĩkĩte ũndũ wa ũrimũ mũno.”
9 Yahweh spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,
Nake Jehova akĩĩra Gadi ũrĩa woonagĩra Daudi maũndũ atĩrĩ,
10 “Go and speak to David, saying, ‘Yahweh says, “I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”
“Thiĩ ũkeere Daudi ũũ, ‘Jehova ekuuga atĩrĩ: Ũrĩ na maũndũ matatũ ma gũthuura. Nowe ũthuure ũmwe wamo ũrĩa ngũkũherithia naguo.’”
11 So Gad came to David and said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Take your choice:
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Gadi agĩthiĩ kũrĩ Daudi, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Jehova ekuuga ũũ: ‘Thuura ũndũ ũmwe wa maya:
12 either three years of famine; or three months to be consumed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days of the sword of Yahweh, even pestilence in the land, and Yahweh’s angel destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.’”
13 David said to Gad, “I am in distress. Let me fall, I pray, into Yahweh’s hand, for his mercies are very great. Don’t let me fall into man’s hand.”
Daudi akĩĩra Gadi atĩrĩ, “Rĩu niĩ ndĩ na thĩĩna mũno. Nĩ kaba niĩ ngwe moko-inĩ ma Jehova, tondũ tha ciake nĩ nyingĩ mũno; no ndũkareke ngwe moko-inĩ ma andũ.”
14 So Yahweh sent a pestilence on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jehova akĩrehera Isiraeli mũthiro, na andũ a Isiraeli 70,000 magĩkua.
15 God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. As he was about to destroy, Yahweh saw, and he relented of the disaster, and said to the destroying angel, “It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” Yahweh’s angel was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Nake Ngai agĩtũma mũraika akanange Jerusalemu. No rĩrĩa mũraika ekaga ũguo-rĩ, Jehova akĩona ũndũ ũcio na akĩigua kĩeha nĩ ũndũ wa kĩnyariirĩko kĩu, nake akĩĩra mũraika ũcio wanangaga andũ atĩrĩ, “Tigĩra hau! Eheria guoko gwaku.” Hĩndĩ ĩyo mũraika ũcio wa Jehova aarũgamĩte kĩhuhĩro-inĩ kĩa ngano kĩa Arauna ũrĩa Mũjebusi.
16 David lifted up his eyes, and saw Yahweh’s angel standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.
Nake Daudi akĩrora igũrũ akĩona mũraika wa Jehova arũngiĩ gatagatĩ ka igũrũ na thĩ acomorete rũhiũ rwa njora, arũnyiitĩte na guoko gwake gũtambũrũkĩirio Jerusalemu. Nake Daudi na athuuri, mehumbĩte nguo cia makũnia, makĩgũa magĩturumithia mothiũ mao thĩ.
17 David said to God, “Isn’t it I who commanded the people to be counted? It is even I who have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O Yahweh my God, be against me and against my father’s house; but not against your people, that they should be plagued.”
Daudi akĩũria Ngai atĩrĩ, “Githĩ ti niĩ ndaathanire atĩ arũi a mbaara matarwo? Niĩ nĩ niĩ njĩhĩtie o na ngeeka ũũru. Andũ aya matariĩ o ta ngʼondu. Nĩ atĩa mekĩte? Wee Jehova Ngai wakwa, reke guoko gwaku kũnjũkĩrĩre niĩ na nyũmba yakwa, no rĩrĩ, ndũkareke mũthiro ũyũ ũikare na andũ aku.”
18 Then Yahweh’s angel commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up and raise an altar to Yahweh on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Nake mũraika wa Jehova agĩatha Gadi eere Daudi aambate athiĩ agaakĩre Jehova kĩgongona o kũu kĩhuhĩro-inĩ kĩa ngano kĩa Arauna ũrĩa Mũjebusi.
19 David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in Yahweh’s name.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi akĩambata agĩathĩkĩra kiugo kĩu Gadi aarĩtie thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩa Jehova.
20 Ornan turned back and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Arauna aakonyoraga ngano-rĩ, akĩĩhũgũra akĩona mũraika ũcio; nao ariũ ake ana arĩa maarĩ nake makĩĩhitha.
21 As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
Nake Daudi agĩkuhĩrĩria, na rĩrĩa Arauna aarorire akĩmuona, akiuma kĩhuhĩro-inĩ kĩa ngano, akĩinamĩrĩria mũtwe wake mbere ya Daudi, na agĩturumithia ũthiũ thĩ.
22 Then David said to Ornan, “Sell me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar to Yahweh on it. You shall sell it to me for the full price, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”
Daudi akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Njĩtĩkĩria njakĩre Jehova kĩgongona haha kĩhuhĩro-inĩ gĩkĩ gĩaku kĩa ngano, nĩguo mũthiro ũyũ ũkorete andũ ũthire. Nyenderia o ũrĩa thogora wakĩo ũigana.”
23 Ornan said to David, “Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.”
Arauna akĩĩra Daudi atĩrĩ, “Kĩoe! Reke mũthamaki mwathi wakwa eeke ũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩmũkenia. Na rĩrĩ, nĩngũkũhe ndegwa ici irutwo igongona rĩa njino, ihũũri ici cia ngano ituĩke ngũ, ngano nayo ĩtuĩke ya igongona rĩa mũtu. Icio ciothe nĩngũkũhe.”
24 King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is yours for Yahweh, nor offer a burnt offering that costs me nothing.”
Nowe Mũthamaki Daudi agĩcookeria Arauna atĩrĩ, “Aca, no nginya ndĩhe thogora wakĩo ũrĩa ũigana. Ndingĩrutĩra Jehova kĩndũ gĩaku, kana ndute igongona rĩa njino na kĩndũ kĩrĩa itarutĩire thogora.”
25 So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi akĩrĩha Arauna cekeri magana matandatũ cia thahabu nĩ ũndũ wa handũ hau.
26 David built an altar to Yahweh there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on Yahweh; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.
27 Then Yahweh commanded the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.
Ningĩ Jehova akĩarĩria mũraika ũcio nake agĩcookia rũhiũ rwake njora.
28 At that time, when David saw that Yahweh had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
Hĩndĩ ĩyo, rĩrĩa Daudi onire atĩ Ngai nĩamũiguĩte arĩ kũu kĩhuhĩro-inĩ kĩa ngano kĩa Arauna ũcio Mũjebusi-rĩ, akĩrutĩra magongona hau.
29 For Yahweh’s tabernacle, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.
Hema ya Jehova ĩrĩa nyamũre ĩrĩa Musa aathondekeire werũ-inĩ, na kĩgongona kĩa maruta ma njino, hĩndĩ ĩyo ciarĩ harĩa hatũũgĩru o kũu Gibeoni.
30 But David couldn’t go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid because of the sword of Yahweh’s angel.
No rĩrĩ, Daudi ndangĩathiire mbere yakĩo gũtuĩria ũhoro harĩ Ngai tondũ nĩetigagĩra rũhiũ rwa njora rwa mũraika ũcio wa Jehova.
