< Psalms 16 >
1 A Poem by David. Preserve me, God, for I take refuge in you.
E HOOLA mai oe ia'u, e ke Akua: Ke hilinai aku nei au ia oe.
2 My soul, you have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing.”
E kuu uhane, ua i aku oe ia Iehova, O oe no ko'u Haku; Aole i hiki aku ko'u maikai ia oe;
3 As for the saints who are in the earth, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.
Aka, i ka poe haipule ma ka honua, A me ka poe maikai a'u e hauoli nei.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who give gifts to another god. Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take their names on my lips.
E hoonuiia'na ka eha o ka poe e hahai i ka mea e; Aole au e mohai aku i ko lakou mohaiinu koko, Aole hoi e hapai i ko lakou inoa i kou mau Iehelehe.
5 The LORD assigned my portion and my cup. You made my lot secure.
O Iehova ka io o ko'u hooilina a me ko'u kiaha; Ke hoomau mai nei oe i ko'u pauku.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Yes, I have a good inheritance.
Ua lilo mai na palena ia'u i kahi e mahalo ai; Oiaio, ua ili mai ia'u ka aina maikai.
7 I will bless the LORD, who has given me counsel. Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
E hoomaikai aku au ia Iehova, nana ka olelo i haawi mai ia'u, Ua ao mai hoi ia'u ko'u mau puupaa i na po.
8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Ke waiho mau nei no au ia Iehova imua o ko'u alo: Oia ma ko'u lima akau, nolaila au e kulanalana ole ai.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices. My body shall also dwell in safety.
Nolaila ko'u naau o hauoli nei, a e olioli nei ko'u nani, Oiaio, e hoomaha hoi ko'u kino me ka manaolana.
10 For you will not leave my soul in Sheol, neither will you allow your holy one to see corruption. (Sheol )
No ka mea, aole oe e haalele i ko'u uhane i ka malu o ka make, Aole hoi oe e waiho iho i kou mea hoano a ike i ka palaho. (Sheol )
11 You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forever more.
E hoike mai no oe ia'u i ke kuamoo e ola'i; Ina no ma kou alo ka nui wale o ka olioli; Ma kou lima akau ka hauoli mau loa.
