Romans 2

1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whoever thou art, that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest, doest the same things.

Ko ia, ʻe tangata, ʻa koe ʻoku ke fakamaau, ʻe ʻikai te ke hao koe: he ko e meʻa ko ia ʻoku ke fakamaau ai ha taha, ʻoku ke fakamaauʻi ai koe; he ko koe ʻoku ke fakamaau, ʻoku ke fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa pehē.

2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth, against them who commit such things.

Ka ʻoku tau ʻilo pau ʻoku taau mo e fai totonu ʻae fakamaau ʻae ʻOtua kiate kinautolu ʻoku fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa pehē.

3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them who do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Pea ko koe, ʻe tangata, ʻoku ke fakamaauʻi ʻakinautolu ʻoku fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa pehē, ka ʻoku ke fai pehē pe ʻe koe, ʻoku ke mahalo te ke hao koe mei he fakamaau ʻae ʻOtua?

4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Pe ʻoku ke loto manuki ki he lahi faufau ʻo ʻene angalelei, mo e faʻa kātaki, mo e kātaki ʻofa; ʻo ʻikai te ke ʻilo ko e angalelei ʻae ʻOtua ko e meʻa ke tataki koe ki he fakatomala?

5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart, treasurest up to thyself wrath against the day of wrath, and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Ka ʻi ho loto fefeka mo e taʻefakatomala, ʻoku ke fokotuʻu ai maʻau ʻae houhau ki he ʻaho ʻoe houhau, mo e fakahā ʻoe fakamaau totonu ʻae ʻOtua;

6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

‌ʻAia te ne ʻatu ai ki he tangata taki taha ʻo fakatatau ki heʻene ngaahi ngāue:

7 To them who by patient continuance in well-doing, seek for glory, and honor, and immortality; eternal life: (aiōnios g166)

Ko e moʻui taʻengata kiate kinautolu ʻoku kumi ki he ongoongolelei, mo e hakeakiʻi, mo e moʻui taʻemate, ʻi he fakakukafi maʻuaipē ʻi he fai lelei: (aiōnios g166)

8 But to them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness; indignation and wrath:

Ka ko e mamahi mo e houhau kiate kinautolu ʻoku angatuʻu, pea ʻikai talangofua ki he moʻoni, kae talangofua ki he taʻemāʻoniʻoni,

9 Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

Ko e tautea mo e feinga ki he laumālie ʻoe tangata kotoa pē ʻoku fai kovi, ʻo muʻomuʻa ki he Siu, pea ki he Senitaile foki;

10 But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile;

Ka ko e ongoongolelei, mo e hakeakiʻi, mo e fiemālie, ki he tangata kotoa pē ʻoku fai lelei, ʻo muʻomuʻa ki he Siu, pea ki he Senitaile foki:

11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

He ʻoku ʻikai ʻi he ʻOtua ha filifilimānako ki he tangata.

12 For as many as have sinned without law, shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law, shall be judged by the law,

He ko kinautolu kotoa pē kuo angahala taʻehafono, ʻe ʻauha foki taʻehafono: pea ko kinautolu kotoa pē kuo angahala kuo ai ʻae fono, ʻe fakamaau ʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻae fono;

13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

(He ʻoku ʻikai tonuhia ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ʻOtua ʻae kau fanongo ki he fono, ka ko e kau fai ki he fono ʻe fakatonuhiaʻi.

14 For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these having not the law, are a law to themselves.

Koeʻuhi ʻi he fai mei honau loto ʻe he ngaahi Senitaile, ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻi he fono, ka ʻoku ʻikai ʻiate kinautolu ʻae fono, pea ko kinautolu ni ʻoku ʻikai maʻu ʻae fono, ko e fono ʻakinautolu kiate kinautolu:

15 Who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing testimony, and [their] thoughts the mean while accusing, or else excusing one another)

‌ʻAkinautolu ʻoku fakahā hono ʻuhinga ʻoe fono kuo tohi tongi ʻi honau konsenisi, pea fakamoʻoni mo honau loto foki, pea ʻoku fakahalaʻi pe fakatonuhiaʻi [ʻakinautolu ]ʻe [heʻenau ngaahi ]fakakaukau; )

16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

‌ʻI he ʻaho ʻe fakamaau ai ʻe he ʻOtua ʻia Sisu Kalaisi ʻae ngaahi meʻa fufū ʻi he kakai, ʻo fakatatau ki heʻeku ongoongolelei.

17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

Vakai, ʻoku ui koe ko e Siu, pea ʻoku ke falala ki he fono, pea ʻoku ke vikiviki ʻi he ʻOtua,

18 And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law,

Pea ʻoku ke ʻilo hono finangalo, pea ʻoku ke faʻa ʻiloʻi mo e ngaahi meʻa ʻoku fai kehekehe, he kuo akonekina koe mei he fono;

19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them who are in darkness,

Pea ʻoku ke pole ko e tataki ʻoe kui, ko e maama kiate kinautolu ʻoku ʻi he poʻuli.

20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, who hast the form of knowledge, and of the truth in the law:

Ko e fakahinohino ʻoe vale, ko e akonaki ʻoe kau valevale, ʻoku ke maʻu ʻae sino ʻoe ʻilo mo e moʻoni ʻi he fono.

21 Thou therefore who teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

Ko ia ko koe ʻoku ke akonakiʻi ʻae taha kehe, ʻOku ʻikai te ke akonakiʻi koe? Ko koe ʻoku ke malanga “Ke ʻoua naʻa kaihaʻa,” ʻoku ke kaihaʻa ʻe koe?

22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

Ko koe ʻoku ke pehē, “ʻOua naʻa tono fefine,” ʻoku [moʻoni]?

23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonorest thou God?

Ko koe ʻoku ke vikiviki ki he fono, ʻikai ʻoku ke fakaongokoviʻi ʻe koe ʻae ʻOtua ʻi hoʻo maumauʻi ʻae fono?

24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles, through you, as it is written.

He ko e meʻa ʻiate kimoutolu ʻoku lauʻikovi ʻae huafa ʻoe ʻOtua ʻi he kakai Senitaile, ʻo hangē ko ia kuo tohi.

25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keepest the law; but if thou art a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

He ʻoku ʻaonga moʻoni ʻae kamu, ʻo kapau ʻoku ke fai ki he fono: pea kapau ʻoku ke kei maumauʻi ʻae fono, ʻoku liliu ai hoʻo kamu ko e taʻekamu.

26 Therefore, if the uncircumcision keepeth the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

Ko ia kapau ʻe fai ki he fono ʻe he taʻekamu ʻae anga māʻoniʻoni ʻoe fono, ʻikai ʻe lau ai ʻene taʻekamu ko e kamu?

27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfilleth the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?

Pea kapau ʻe fai ki he fono ʻe he taʻekamu ʻaia ko ʻetau anga pē, ʻikai te ne fakamaauʻi koe, ʻa koe ʻoku ʻiate koe ʻae tohi mo e kamu, ka ʻoku ke maumauʻi pē ʻae fono?

28 For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

He ʻoku ʻikai ko e Siu, ʻaia ʻoku pehē ʻituʻa pe; pea ʻoku ʻikai ko e kamu, ʻaia ʻoku ʻituʻa ʻi he kakano:

29 But he [is] a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not from men, but from God.

Ka ko e Siu ia, ʻaia ʻoku pehē ʻi loto; pea ko e kamu ʻoku ʻoe loto ia, ʻi he laumālie, kae ʻikai ʻi he tohi; pea ʻoku ʻikai mei he kakai hono fakamālō, ka mei he ʻOtua.
