Psalms 140

1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

Izbavi me, Gospode, od èovjeka zloga, saèuvaj me od nasilnika,

2 Who imagine mischiefs in [their] heart; continually are they assembled [for] war.

Koji pomišljaju zlo u srcu i svaki dan podižu rat;

3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adder's poison [is] under their lips. (Selah)

Oštre jezik svoj kao zmija, jed je aspidin u ustima njihovijem.

4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

Saèuvaj me, Bože, od ruku bezbožnièkih, od nasilnika sahrani me, koji misle da potkinu noge moje.

5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the way side: they have set gins for me. (Selah)

Oholi mi namjestiše zamke i prugla, metnuše mi mrežu na put, preðu razapeše mi.

6 I said to the LORD, Thou [art] my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.

Rekoh Gospodu: ti si Bog moj, usliši, Gospode, glas moljenja mojega.

7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Gospode, Gospode, krjepki spasitelju moj, zakloni glavu moju u dan ratni!

8 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; [lest] they exalt themselves. (Selah)

Ne daj, Gospode, bezbožniku što želi, ne daj mu da dokuèi što je naumio, da se ne uznose.

9 [As for] the head of those that encompass me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

Otrov onijeh što su oko mene, pogibao usta njihovijeh neka se obrati na njih.

10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not again.

Neka padne na njih živo ugljevlje; neka ih on baci u oganj, u propasti, da ne ustanu.

11 Let not an evil speaker be established on the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow [him].

Èovjek jezièan neæe se utvrditi na zemlji, nepravednoga æe zloæa uvaliti u pogibao.

12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, [and] the right of the poor.

Znam da æe Gospod pokazati pravdu nevoljnome i pravicu ubogima.

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

Da! pravedni æe slaviti ime tvoje, pravi æe ostati pred licem tvojim.
