Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom hath built her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
A verdadeira sabedoria edificou sua casa; ela lavrou suas sete colunas.
2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
Ela sacrificou seu sacrifício, misturou seu vinho, e preparou sua mesa.
3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
Mandou suas servas, [e] está convidando desde os pontos mais altos da cidade, dizendo:
4 Whoever [is] simple, let him turn in hither: [as for] him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
Qualquer um que for ingênuo, venha aqui. Aos que têm falta de entendimento, ela diz:
5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine [which] I have mingled.
Vinde, comei do meu pão; e bebei do vinho que misturei.
6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
Abandonai a tolice; e vivei; e andai pelo caminho da prudência.
7 He that reproveth a scorner, getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked [man getteth] himself a blot.
Aquele que repreende ao zombador, toma desonra para si mesmo; e o que tenta corrigir ao perverso acaba sendo manchado.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he shall hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
Não repreendas ao zombador, para que ele não te odeie; repreende ao sábio, e ele te amará.
9 Give [instruction] to a wise [man], and he will be yet wiser: teach a just [man], and he will increase in learning.
Ensina ao sábio, e ele será mais sábio ainda; instrui ao justo, e ele aumentará seu conhecimento.
10 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy [is] understanding.
O temor ao SENHOR é o princípio da sabedoria; e o conhecimento dos santos [é] a prudência.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
Porque por mim teus dias serão multiplicados; e anos de vida a ti serão aumentados.
12 If thou art wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but [if] thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear [it].
Se fores sábio, serás sábio para ti; e se fores zombador, somente tu aguentarás.
13 A foolish woman [is] clamorous: [she is] simple, and knoweth nothing.
A mulher louca é causadora de tumultos; [ela é] tola, e não sabe coisa alguma.
14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
E se senta à porta de sua casa, sobre uma cadeira, nos lugares altos da cidade;
15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:
Para chamar aos que passam pelo caminho, e passam por suas veredas, [dizendo]:
16 Whoever [is] simple, let him turn in hither: and [as for] him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
Qualquer um que for ingênuo, venha aqui! E aos que tem falta de entendimento, ela diz:
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread [eaten] in secret is pleasant.
As águas roubadas são doces; e o pão escondido é agradável.
