Proverbs 30
1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, [even] the prophecy: the man spoke to Ithiel, even to Ithiel and Ucal,
Palavras d'Agur, filho de Jake, a prophecia: disse este varão a Ithiel; a Ithiel e a Ucal:
2 Surely I [am] more brutish than [any] man, and have not the understanding of a man.
Na verdade que eu sou mais brutal do que ninguem, não tenho o entendimento do homem.
3 I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
Nem aprendi a sabedoria, nem conheci o conhecimento dos sanctos.
4 Who hath ascended into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what [is] his name, and what [is] his son's name, if thou canst tell?
Quem subiu ao céu e desceu? quem encerrou os ventos nos seus punhos? quem amarrou as aguas n'um panno? quem estabeleceu todas as extremidades da terra? qual é o seu nome? e qual é o nome de seu filho? se é que o sabes?
5 Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield to them that put their trust in him.
Toda a palavra de Deus é pura; escudo é para os que confiam n'elle.
6 Add thou not to his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Nada accrescentes ás suas palavras, para que não te reprehenda e sejas achado mentiroso.
7 Two [things] have I required of thee; deny [them] not to me before I die:
Duas coisas te pedi; não m'as negues, antes que morra:
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
Alonga de mim a vaidade e a palavra mentirosa; não me dês nem a pobreza nem a riqueza: mantem-me do pão da minha porção acostumada.
9 Lest I be full, and deny [thee], and say, Who [is] the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God [in vain].
Para que porventura de farto te não negue, e diga: Quem é o Senhor? ou que, empobrecendo, não venha a furtar, e lance mão do nome de Deus.
10 Accuse not a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.
Não calumnies o servo diante de seu senhor, para que te não amaldiçoe e fiques culpado.
11 [There is] a generation [that] curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
Ha uma geração que amaldiçoa a seu pae, e que não bemdiz a sua mãe
12 [There is] a generation [that are] pure in their own eyes, and [yet] are not washed from their filthiness.
Ha uma geração que é pura aos seus olhos, e que nunca foi lavada da sua immundicia.
13 [There is] a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
Ha uma geração cujos olhos são altivos, e as suas palpebras levantadas para cima.
14 [There is] a generation, whose teeth [are as] swords, and their jaw-teeth [as] knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from [among] men.
Ha uma geração cujos dentes são espadas, e cujos queixaes são facas, para consumirem da terra os afflictos, e os necessitados d'entre os homens.
15 The horse-leech hath two daughters, [crying], Give, give. There are three [things that] are never satisfied, [yes], four [things] say not, [It is] enough:
A sanguesuga tem duas filhas, a saber: Dá, Dá. Estas tres coisas nunca se fartam; e quatro nunca dizem: Basta.
16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth [that] is not filled with water; and the fire [that] saith not, [It is] enough. (Sheol h7585)
A sepultura; a madre esteril; a terra que se não farta d'agua; e o fogo nunca diz: Basta. (Sheol h7585)
17 The eye [that] mocketh at [its] father, and despiseth to obey [its] mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
Os olhos que zombam do pae, ou desprezam a obediencia da mãe, corvos do ribeiro os arrancarão e os pintãos da aguia os comerão.
18 There are three [things which] are too wonderful for me, yes, four which I know not:
Estas tres coisas me maravilham; e quatro ha que não conheço:
19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
O caminho da aguia no céu; o caminho da cobra na penha; o caminho do navio no meio do mar; e o caminho do homem com uma virgem.
20 Such [is] the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
Tal é o caminho da mulher adultera: ella come, e limpa a sua bocca, e diz: Não commetti maldade.
21 For three [things] the earth is disquieted, and for four [which] it cannot bear:
Por tres coisas se alvoroça a terra: e por quatro, que não pode supportar:
22 For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with food.
Pelo servo, quando reina; e pelo tolo, quando anda farto de pão:
23 For an odious [woman] when she is married; and a handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
Pela mulher aborrecida, quando se casa; e pela serva, quando ficar herdeira da sua senhora.
24 There are four [things which are] little upon the earth, but they [are] very wise:
Estas quatro coisas são das mais pequenas da terra, porém sabias, bem providas de sabedoria:
25 The ants [are] a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer;
As formigas são um povo impotente; todavia no verão preparam a sua comida:
26 The conies [are but] a feeble people, yet they make their houses in the rocks;
Os coelhos são um povo debil; e comtudo põem a sua casa na penha:
27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
Os gafanhotos não teem rei; e comtudo todos saem, e em bandos se repartem:
28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in king's palaces.
A aranha apanha com as mãos, e está nos paços dos reis.
29 There are three [things] which go well, yes, four are comely in going:
Estas tres teem um bom andar, e quatro que passeiam mui bem:
30 A lion, [which is] strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;
O leão, o mais forte entre os animaes, que por ninguem torna atraz:
31 A greyhound; a he-goat also; and a king, against whom [there is] no rising up.
O cavallo de guerra, bem cingido pelos lombos; e o bode; e o rei a quem se não pode resistir.
32 If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, [lay] thy hand upon thy mouth.
Se obraste loucamente, elevando-te, e se imaginaste o mal, põe a mão na bocca.
33 Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
Porque o espremer do leite produz manteiga, e o espremer do nariz produz sangue, e o espremer da ira produz contenda.
