Genesis 16

1 Now Sarai, Abram's wife, bore him no children: and she had a handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name [was] Hagar.

Agora Sarai, a esposa de Abram, não lhe deu filhos. Ela tinha um servo, um egípcio, cujo nome era Hagar.

2 And Sarai said to Abram, Behold, now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee go in to my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

Sarai disse a Abram: “Veja agora, Yahweh me impediu de suportar”. Por favor, vá até o meu criado. Pode ser que eu obtenha filhos por ela”. Abram ouviu a voz de Sarai.

3 And Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.

Sarai, esposa de Abram, tomou Hagar, o egípcio, seu servo, depois de Abram ter vivido dez anos na terra de Canaã, e a deu a Abram, seu marido, para ser sua esposa.

4 And he went in to Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

Ele foi para Hagar, e ela concebeu. Quando ela viu que havia concebido, sua amante foi desprezada aos seus olhos.

5 And Sarai said to Abram, my wrong [be] upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.

Sarai disse a Abram: “Este erro é culpa sua. Eu entreguei meu criado em seu seio e quando ela viu que havia concebido, desprezou-me. Que Yahweh julgue entre mim e você”.

6 But Abram said to Sarai, Behold, thy maid [is] in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.

Mas Abram disse a Sarai: “Eis que sua empregada está em suas mãos”. Faça a ela o que for bom aos seus olhos”. Sarai lidou duramente com ela, e ela fugiu de seu rosto.

7 And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.

O anjo de Yahweh a encontrou junto a uma fonte de água no deserto, junto à fonte a caminho de Shur.

8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.

Ele disse: “Hagar, o servo de Sarai, de onde você veio? Para onde você está indo?” Ela disse: “Estou fugindo do rosto de minha amante Sarai”.

9 And the angel of the LORD said to her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

O anjo de Yahweh lhe disse: “Volte para sua amante e se submeta sob suas mãos”.

10 And the angel of the LORD said to her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.

O anjo de Yahweh disse a ela: “Multiplicarei grandemente sua descendência, que não serão contados por multidão”.

11 And the angel of the LORD said to her, Behold, thou [art] with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

O anjo de Javé lhe disse: “Eis que você está grávida e dará à luz um filho”. Chamará seu nome Ismael, porque Yahweh ouviu sua aflição.

12 And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Ele será como um burro selvagem entre os homens. Sua mão será contra todo homem, e a mão de todo homem contra ele. Ele viverá contra todos os seus irmãos”.

13 And she called the name of the LORD that spoke to her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?

Ela chamou o nome de Iavé que falou com ela: “Você é um Deus que vê”, pois ela disse: “Será que eu fiquei vivo depois de vê-lo?

14 Wherefore the well was called Beer-la-hai-roi; behold, [it is] between Kadesh and Bered.

Portanto, o poço chamava-se Cerveja Lahai Roi. Eis que ele está entre Kadesh e Berede.

15 And Hagar bore Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bore, Ishmael.

Hagar deu à luz um filho para Abram. Abram chamou o nome de seu filho, a quem Hagar deu à luz, Ismael.

16 And Abram [was] eighty six years old, when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.

Abram tinha oitenta e seis anos quando Hagar deu à luz Ishmael para Abram.
