2 Samuel 2
1 And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, To Hebron.
इसके बाद दावीद ने याहवेह से यह पूछा, “क्या यहूदिया के किसी नगर को मेरा जाना सही होगा?” याहवेह ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “हां.” दावीद ने पूछा, “कौन सा नगर उपयुक्त होगा?” “हेब्रोन,” याहवेह ने उत्तर दिया.
2 So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail, Nabal's wife the Carmelite.
तब दावीद वहां चले गए. उनके साथ उनकी दोनों पत्नियां, येज़्रील की अहीनोअम और कर्मेलवासी नाबाल की विधवा अबीगइल भी थी.
3 And his men that [were] with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
तब दावीद अपने साथियों के साथ जाकर हेब्रोन में बस गए. हर एक के साथ उसका घर-परिवार भी था.
4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, [That] the men of Jabesh-gilead [were they] that buried Saul.
यहूदिया प्रदेश के वासियों ने आकर यहूदाह गोत्र के लिए दावीद का राजाभिषेक किया. जब दावीद को यह सूचित किया गया कि शाऊल की अंत्येष्टि याबेश-गिलआदवासियों के द्वारा की गई थी,
5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, Blessed [be] ye of the LORD, that ye have shown this kindness to your lord, [even] to Saul, and have buried him.
दावीद ने याबेश-गिलआदवासियो को अपने संदेशवाहकों द्वारा यह संदेश प्रेषित किया, “आप पर याहवेह की विशेष कृपादृष्टि बने रहे, क्योंकि आपने अपने स्वामी शाऊल के प्रति निष्ठा प्रदर्शित करते हुए उनकी अंत्येष्टि की है.
6 And now the LORD show kindness and truth to you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.
आप पर याहवेह का निर्जर प्रेम और उनकी सत्यनिष्ठा बने रहे. तुम्हारे इस सद्भाव के लिए स्वयं मैं तुम पर दया प्रदर्शित करूंगा.
7 Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
अब जबकि तुम्हारे स्वामी शाऊल की मृत्यु हो चुकी है, और यहूदाह गोत्र ने मेरा राजाभिषेक किया है, तुम्हारी भुजाएं बलशाली बनी रहे, और तुममें शौर्य कम न होने पाए.”
8 But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
मगर दूसरी ओर नेर के पुत्र अबनेर ने, जो शाऊल की सेना के सेनापति था, शाऊल के पुत्र इश-बोशेथ को माहानाईम नगर ले जाकर
9 And he made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
उसे गिलआद, अश्शूरवासियों, येज़्रील, एफ्राईम, बिन्यामिन और संपूर्ण इस्राएल के ऊपर राजा के रूप में प्रतिष्ठित कर दिया.
10 Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, [was] forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years: but the house of Judah followed David.
इस्राएल पर शासन प्रारंभ करते समय इश-बोशेथ की अवस्था चालीस वर्ष की थी. उसका शासनकाल दो वर्ष का था. मगर यहूदाह गोत्र दावीद के वफादार बना रहे.
11 And the time that David was king in Hebron, over the house of Judah, was seven years and six months.
हेब्रोन में यहूदाह गोत्र के ऊपर दावीद का शासनकाल सात वर्ष छः महीने का था.
12 And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
इस समय नेर के पुत्र अबनेर, शाऊल के पुत्र इश-बोशेथ के सेवकों को लेकर माहानाईम से गिबयोन को चले गए.
13 And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
दूसरी ओर ज़ेरुइयाह के पुत्र योआब के सेवकों की भेंट उनसे गिबयोन ताल के निकट हुई. दोनों समूह तल के एक-एक ओर बैठ गए.
14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
अबनेर ने योआब से कहा, “हमारे ये युवा आगे बढ़ें और हमारे सामने इनकी स्पर्धा हो जाए.” योआब सहमत हो गए, “ठीक है, वे आगे बढ़े.”
15 Then there arose, and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, who [pertained] to Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
तब युवा आगे आते गए और उनकी गणना की जाती रही. शाऊल के पुत्र इश-बोशेथ और बिन्यामिन के पक्ष से बारह और दावीद के पक्ष से भी बारह युवक सामने आए.
16 And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and [thrust] his sword in his fellow's side: so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which [is] in Gibeon.
हर एक ने अपने प्रतिद्वंदी का सिर पकड़ा और अपने प्रतिद्वंदी की पसली में तलवार झोंक दी. परिणामस्वरूप वे एक साथ ही धराशायी हुए, इसके कारण गिबयोन नगर में उस स्थान का नाम हेलकाथ-हज़्जूरिम पड़ गया.
17 And there was a very severe battle that day; and Abner was defeated, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
उस दिन युद्ध ने अत्यंत रौद्र रूप ले लिया, और दावीद के युवकों द्वारा अबनेर और इस्राएल के युवक हरा दिए गए.
18 And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel [was as] light of foot as a wild roe.
ज़ेरुइयाह के तीनों पुत्र इस समूह में शामिल थे: योआब, अबीशाई और आसाहेल. आसाहेल मरुभूमि की हिरणी जैसा ही तेजी से दौड़ता था.
19 And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
उसने अबनेर का पीछा करना शुरू कर दिया. अबनेर का पीछा करते हुए वह न तो बाएं मुड़ा न दाएं.
20 Then Abner looked behind him, and said, [Art] thou Asahel? And he answered, I [am].
आसाहेल को अपने पीछे आते देखकर अबनेर ने उससे पूछा, “क्या तुम आसाहेल हो?” “जी हां,” उसने उत्तर दिया.
21 And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay hold on one of the young men, and take to thee his armor. But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
अबनेर ने उससे कहा, “अपने दाएं अथवा बाएं मुड़कर जो भी युवक पकड़ में आए, उससे लूट की सामग्री छीन लो.” मगर आसाहेल ने अबनेर का पीछा करना न छोड़ा.
22 And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: Why should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
अबनेर ने आसाहेल को पुनः आदेश दिया, “मेरा पीछा करना छोड़ो! मैं नहीं चाहता कि मैं तुम पर वार करके तुम्हें धराशायी कर दूं. तब मैं तुम्हारे भाई योआब को अपना मुख कैसे दिखा सकूंगा?”
23 But he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth [rib], that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, [that] as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died, stood still.
फिर भी उसने अबनेर का पीछा न छोड़ा. यह देख अबनेर ने अपने भाले के कुन्दे से आसाहेल के पेट पर वार किया. भाला आर-पार हो गया. आसाहेल वहीं धराशायी हो गया, और उसकी मृत्यु हो गई. वे सभी, जो उस स्थान से होकर जा रहे थे, जहां आसाहेल की मृत्यु हुई थी, स्थिर खड़े हो गये.
24 Joab also, and Abishai pursued Abner: and the sun went down when they had come to the hill of Ammah, that [lieth] before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
मगर योआब और अबीशाई अबनेर का पीछा करते रहे. सूर्यास्त बेला में वे अम्माह पहाड़ी पर जा पहुंचे. यह पहाड़ी गिबयोन की मरुभूमि के मार्ग पर गियाह नामक स्थान के पूर्व पड़ती है.
25 And the children of Benjamin assembled themselves after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of a hill.
बिन्यामिनवासी एकजुट होकर अबनेर के पीछे खड़े हो गए. इससे अब वे एक समूह हो गए थे. इन सभी ने पहाड़ी के ऊपर अपना मोर्चा लिया.
26 Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou wilt bid the people return from following their brethren?
तब अबनेर ने योआब से कहा, “क्या तलवार का वार कभी न थमेगा? क्या तुम यह नहीं समझ रहे कि इससे अंत में कड़वाहट ही हाथ लगेगी? अब और कितनी देर लगाओगे अपने साथियों को आदेश देने में, कि वे अपने ही भाई-बंधुओं का पीछा करना छोड़ दें?”
27 And Joab said, [As] God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
योआब ने उत्तर दिया, “परमेश्वर की शपथ, यदि आपने यह सब न कहा होता तो हमारे साथी अपनी भाई-बंधुओं का पीछा बिना रुके सुबह तक करते रहते.”
28 So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
योआब ने तुरही फूंकी और उसके साथियों ने पीछा करना बंद कर दिया. फिर उन्होंने न तो इस्राएलियों का पीछा किया और न उनसे युद्ध ही किया.
29 And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.
अबनेर और उनके साथियों ने सारी रात चलकर अराबाह पार किया. उन्होंने यरदन नदी को पार किया और दिन के शुरू के घंटों में चलते हुए वे माहानाईम जा पहुंचे.
30 And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had assembled all the people, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men, and Asahel.
योआब अबनेर का पीछा करना छोड़ लौट गए, और जब वे सब एकत्र हुए तब यह मालूम हुआ कि दावीद के सेवकों में से आसाहेल के अलावा उन्नीस व्यक्ति लौटकर नहीं आए थे.
31 But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, [so that] three hundred and sixty men died.
मगर दावीद के इस दल ने बिन्यामिन के तीन सौ साठ व्यक्तियों का संहार कर दिया जो अबनेर के साथ थे.
32 And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulcher of his father, which [was in] Beth-lehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
आसाहेल के शव को उसके पिता की कब्र में रख दिया गया. यह कब्र बेथलेहेम में थी. योआब और उनके साथी सारी रात यात्रा करते रहे. जब वे हेब्रोन पहुंचे तब भोर हो रही थी.
