Psalms 75
1 We give thanks to you; our God, we thank you. You are close to us, and we proclaim to others the wonderful things that you have done [for us].
Au maître-chantre. — «Ne détruis pas». — Psaume d'Asaph. — Cantique. Nous te louons, ô Dieu, nous célébrons tes louanges. Et ton nom est présent parmi nous. Tous racontent tes merveilles.
2 [You have said], “I have appointed a time when I will judge people, and I will judge [everyone] fairly.
«Quand viendra le jour fixé par moi, dit le Seigneur, Je jugerai avec équité.
3 When the earth shakes and all the creatures on the earth tremble, I am the one who will (keep its foundations steady/prevent it from being destroyed).
La terre chancelait avec tous ses habitants; Moi, j'en affermis les colonnes.» (Pause)
4 I say to people who (boast/talk proudly about themselves), ‘Stop bragging!’ and I say to wicked people, ‘Do not proudly [do things to] show how great you are [IDM]!
Je dis aux orgueilleux: «Ne vous enorgueillissez pas. Et aux méchants: «Ne levez pas la tête;
5 Do not be arrogant, and do not speak so boastfully!’”
Ne levez pas si haut votre tête; Ne parlez pas avec insolence en raidissant le cou!»
6 The one who judges people does not come from the east or from the west, and he does not come from the desert.
Car ce n'est pas de l'Orient, ni de l'Occident, Ni du désert, que vient la prospérité;
7 God is the one who judges people; he says that some have sinned and must be punished, and that others have not done what is wrong.
Mais c'est Dieu qui juge: Il abaisse l'un, et il élève l'autre.
8 [It is as though] Yahweh holds a cup in his hand; it is filled with wine that [has spices] mixed in it [to cause those who drink it to become more drunk]; and when Yahweh pours it out, he will force all the wicked people to drink it; they will drink every drop of it, [which means that he will give them all the punishment that they deserve].
L'Éternel tient dans sa main une coupe, Où écume un vin mélangé d'aromates; Il verse à boire à tous les méchants de la terre: Ils videront la coupe jusqu'à la lie!
9 But [as for me], I will never stop saying what the God whom Jacob [worshiped has done]; I will never quit singing to praise him.
Voilà ce que je ne cesserai pas de redire. En chantant à la gloire du Dieu de Jacob.
10 He will destroy the power [IDM] of wicked people, but he will cause righteous people to become more powerful.
Je briserai entièrement la puissance des méchants; Mais le juste verra grandir sa puissance.
