Lamentations 4
1 [Previously our people were like] [MET] pure gold, but now they are worthless. [Like] [MET] the sacred stones in the temple have been scattered, [our young men have been scattered].
Naunsa nga ang bulawan mialup man! naunsa nga ang lunsay nga bulawan milubad man! Ang mga bato sa balaang puloyanan ginayabo didto sa tagsatagsa ka ulohan sa dalan.
2 The young men of Jerusalem were as valuable as [MET] large amounts of gold, but now people consider that they are as worthless as [ordinary] clay pots.
Ang bililhong mga anak nga lalake sa Sion, takus ikatanding sa inulay nga bulawan, Naunsa nga sila giisip man nga ingon sa saro nga sa yutang kolonon, ang buhat sa mga kamot sa magkokolon!
3 Even the [female] jackals/wolves feed their pups, but my people act cruelly [toward their children]; they are like [SIM] ostriches in the desert [that abandon their eggs].
Bisan pa ang mga irong ihalas mopagula sa ilang suso, mopasuso sa ilang mga itoy; Ang anak nga babaye sa akong katawohan nahimong mabangis, ingon sa mga avestruz sa kamingawan.
4 [My people’s] infants’ tongues cling to the roofs/tops of their mouths because they are [extremely] thirsty; the children plead for some food, but no one gives them [any].
Ang dila sa bata nga masuso mitapot sa alingagngag sa iyang baba tungod sa kauhaw: Ang magagmayng kabataan mangayo ug tinapay, ug walay tawo nga magatipiktipik sa tinapay kanila.
5 People who [previously] ate fine food are [now] starving in the streets; those who previously lived luxuriously [MTY] [now] paw/dig through rubbish heaps [to find some food].
Kadtong nagkaon ug pinili nga kalan-on nangahimong biniyaan didto sa kadalanan: Kadtong nanagtubo sa mapula nga mga panapton minggakus ug mga pundok sa kinalibang.
6 [The people of] Sodom were struck with a disaster very suddenly, and there was no one to rescue them; but my people have been punished more severely than [the people of] Sodom were punished.
Tungod kay ang kasal-anan sa anak nga babaye sa akong katawohan labing daku kay sa sala sa Sodoma, Nga gilaglag sulod sa usa ka pagpamilok, ug walay mga kamot nga minggunit kaniya.
7 Our leaders’ [behavior] was [previously] very pure, whiter [and brighter] than snow and milk; their bodies were redder than [red] coral/stones; they were very strong and healthy [MET].
Ang iyang mga halangdon labing maputli kay sa nieve, sila labing maputi kay sa gatas: Sila labing mapula ug lawas kay sa mga rubi, ang ilang kahinlo ingon sa zafiro:
8 But now their faces are blacker than soot, and no one recognizes them in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones, and it has become as dry as [SIM] a wooden [stick].
Ang ilang nawong maitum kay sa carbon; sila dili maila diha sa kadalanan: Ang ilang mga panit nanapot sa ilang mga bukog; kini nauga nga nahimong ingon sa usa ka pinutol.
9 It is better to die in a battle [MTY] than to die of hunger. There was no food to harvest in the fields, so the people slowly starved until they died.
Kadtong gipamatay pinaagi sa pinuti labing maayo kay niadtong nangamatay sa gutom: Kay kini nagakahunos daw gilagbasan, tungod sa kawalad-on sa mga bunga sa uma.
10 Women who [usually/previously] were very kind have [killed and] cooked their own children; they ate them [when there was no other food], when Jerusalem was surrounded [by enemy soldiers].
Ang mga kamot sa makalolooy nga mga babaye nanaglata sa kaugalingon nilang mga anak: Sila nahimo nga ilang kalan-on sa pagkalaglag sa anak nga babaye sa akong katawohan.
11 Yahweh has shown that he was extremely angry; [it is as though] he started/ignited a fire in Jerusalem that burned everything to ashes.
Natuman ni Jehova ang iyang kaligutgut, iyang gibubo ang iyang mabangis nga kasuko; Ug siya nagdaub sa kalayo sa Sion, nga naglamoy sa mga patukoranan niana.
12 None of the kings on the earth or anyone else believed that any of our enemies could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
Ang mga hari sa yuta wala managpanoo, ni ang tanang pumoluyo sa kalibutan, Nga ang kabatok ug ang kaaway makasulod sa mga pultahan sa Jerusalem.
13 [But that is what happened]; it happened because the prophets sinned; and the priests [also] sinned by causing innocent people to be executed [MTY].
Tungod sa mga sala sa iyang mga manalagna, ug sa mga kasal-anan sa iyang mga sacerdote, Nga nanag-ula sa dugo sa mga matarung diha sa iyang taliwala.
14 The prophets and priests wandered through the streets [as though they were] blind. No one would touch them because their clothes were stained with the blood [of people who had been killed].
Sila nanagsalaag sa kadalanan ingon sa mga buta nga mga tawo, sila nahugawan sa dugo, Sa pagkaagi nga ang mga tawo dili makahikap sa ilang mga saput.
15 The people [who were alive] shouted, “Stay away [from us] [DOU]! You are defiled/untouchable! Do not touch us!” So the prophets and priests fled [from Israel], and they wandered around from one country to another, because people [in each country] kept saying to them, “You cannot stay here!”
Pamahawa kamo, sila mingtiyabaw kanila: Mahugaw! pahawa, pahawa, ayaw paghikapa! Sa diha nga mingkalagiw sila ug mingsalaag, ang mga tawo mingingon sa taliwala sa mga nasud:
16 It is Yahweh himself who has scattered them; he no longer is concerned about them. People do not respect [our] priests or leaders.
Sila dili na makapuyo pag-usab dinhi. Ang kasuko ni Jehova nagpapatlaag kanila; siya dili na magtagad pag-usab kanila: Sila wala motahud sa mga pagkatawo sa mga sacerdote, sila wala modapig sa mga anciano.
17 We [SYN] continued to look for someone to help [us], but it was useless. We continued to watch to see if one of our allies would save us, but none of the nations that we were waiting for could help [us].
Ang among mga mata naluya sa pagpangita sa kawang namong pagtabang: Sa among pagtukaw kami nagabantay sa usa ka nasud nga dili makaluwas.
18 [Our] enemies were hunting for us, so we could not [even] walk in our streets [lest they seize us]. We were about to be captured; it was time for us to be killed.
Sila nangita sa among mga lakang, sa pagkaagi nga kami dili makaadto sa among kadalanan: Ang among katapusan haduol na, ang among mga adlaw natuman na; kay ang among katapusan mingdangat na.
19 Those who pursued us were faster than eagles [flying] in the sky. Even if we fled to the mountains or hid in the desert, they [went there ahead of us and] waited [to attack] us.
Ang among mga manggugukod matulin pa kay sa mga agila sa kalangitan: Sila minggukod kanamo ibabaw sa kabukiran, sila nanagbanhig kanamo sa kamingawan.
20 [Our king, ] whom Yahweh appointed, was the one who enabled us to remain alive [MTY]; he was the one whom we trusted to protect us [IDM] from [the armies of] other nations. But he was [captured] [like animals are] [MET] caught in a pit.
Ang gininhawa sa among mga ilong, ang dinihog ni Jehova, nadakup sa ilang mga gahong; Nga mahitungod kaniya ming-ingon kami: Ilalum sa iyang landong kami magapuyo sa taliwala sa mga nasud.
21 You people of [IDM] Edom and Uz, [you may] be happy [about what is happening to us now], but [Yahweh] will be punishing [MTY] you [also]. You will become drunk and will be ashamed [because your enemies] will have stripped off your clothes.
Pagmaya ug paglipay, Oh anak nga babaye sa Edom, nga nagapuyo sa yuta sa Hus: Ang copa usab moagi nganha kanimo: ikaw mahubog, ug maghubo sa imong kaugalingon.
22 You [people of] [APO] Jerusalem, the time of your being punished will end; Yahweh will not allow you to continue to live in (exile/foreign countries). But [you people of] [APO] Edom, Yahweh will punish [you]; he will reveal the wicked things that you have done.
Ang silot sa imong kasal-anan natuman na, Oh anak nga babaye sa Sion; siya dili na modala kanimo pag-usab ngadto sa pagkabinihag: Du-awon niya ang imong kasalanan, Oh anak nga babaye sa Edom; igapadayag niya ang imong mga sala.
