< Jeremiah 28 >
1 When Zedekiah had been the King of Judah for more than three years, late in the (summer/hot season), Azzur’s son Hananiah, a prophet from Gibeon [city], spoke to me in the [courtyard of the] temple, while [all] the priests and other people were listening. He said,
O ruo, nʼọnwa nke ise nke otu afọ ahụ, nke bụ afọ nke anọ, na mmalite ọchịchị Zedekaya eze Juda, Hananaya, nwa Azoa, onye amụma si Gibiọn, gwara m okwu nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị nʼihu ndị nchụaja na ndị mmadụ si m.
2 “This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israelis [worship], says: ‘I will cause the king of Babylon to stop ruling/controlling [MET] [all of you].
“Ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile, bụ Chineke Izrel kwuru, ‘Aga m agbaji agbụ nke eze Babilọn.
3 (Within two years/Before two years have ended), I will cause to be brought bring back to this temple all the valuable things that King Nebuchadnezzar’s [soldiers] took from this temple and took to Babylon.
Tupu afọ abụọ agabiga, aga m esi Babilọn bulata ihe ndị ahụ niile Nebukadneza eze Babilọn si nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị bupụ bulaa Babilọn.
4 And I will also cause King Jehoiachin to be brought back here, and all the [other] people who were captured and taken to Babylon. The king of Babylon has [forced you to do what he wants, like someone] puts a yoke [on the neck of an ox to force it to do what he] wants [MET] it to do. But I will cause that to end. [That will happen because] I, Yahweh, have said it.’”
Aga m akpọlatakwa Jehoiakin nwa Jehoiakim, na ndị niile ọzọ e si na Juda dọta nʼagha bulaa Babilọn, nʼihi na aga m agbaji agbụ ahụ eze Babilọn nyanyere ha nʼolu.’” Otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwubiri.
5 I replied to Hananiah in front of [all] the priests and other people who were standing outside the temple.
Mgbe ahụ, Jeremaya onye amụma zara Hananaya onye amụma nʼihu ndị nchụaja na ndị mmadụ niile guzo nʼụlọnsọ Onyenwe anyị
6 I said, “(Amen/May that happen)! I desire/hope that what you have predicted will happen. I hope/desire that Yahweh will do everything that you have said! I hope/desire that he will cause [men from Babylon] to bring back from Babylon [all] the valuable things that were in this temple, and all the people who were taken [to Babylon].
Jeremaya onye amụma sịrị, “Amen! Ka Onyenwe anyị mezuo okwu amụma a i buru site na ibughachite ngwongwo ụlọ Onyenwe anyị na ịkpọghachite ndị niile e mere ka ha si nʼebe a gaa biri na Babilọn.
7 But now listen to what I say to you while all these people are listening.
Ma gee ntị nụrụ ihe m ga-ekwu nʼihu gị na nʼihu ndị a niile guzo nʼebe a.
8 Many years ago, those who were prophets before you and I [became prophets] spoke messages about many nations and great kingdoms. They predicted/prophesied that wars and disasters and plagues/diseases would occur in those nations.
Site na mgbe ochie, ndị amụma ahụ bu mụ na gị ụzọ ebuola amụma banyere agha na mbibi na ọrịa na-efe efe megide ọtụtụ obodo dị iche iche, na ọtụtụ alaeze dị iche iche.
9 [So now you or] any other prophet who predicts that things will go well [for us must show that your message is correct. Only] if what you predict actually happens will we know that you were truly appointed by Yahweh.”
Ma ihe e ji amata na ọ bụ Onyenwe anyị nʼezie, zitere onye amụma buru amụma kwuo na udo ga-adị, bụ naanị ma ọ bụrụ na amụma ya emezuo.”
10 Then Hananiah took the yoke off my neck and broke it.
Mgbe ahụ, Hananaya bụ onye amụma yipụrụ Jeremaya agbụ ahụ o yikwasịrị onwe ya nʼolu gbajie ya.
11 Then he said this to all the people who were there: “This is what Yahweh says: ‘Just like Hananiah has broken this yoke, within two years I will cause King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to [stop forcing the people to do what he wants, which has been like] a heavy yoke on all their necks [MET].’” After Hananiah said that, I left the temple area.
Ọ sịrị nʼihu ọha mmadụ ahụ niile, “Nke a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru: ‘Ọ bụ nʼotu aka ahụ ka m ga-agbajipụkwa agbụ ịyagba Nebukadneza, eze Babilọn nyanyere nʼolu mba niile tupu afọ abụọ agabiga.’” Mgbe o kwuru otu a, Jeremaya onye amụma hapụrụ ebe ahụ laa.
12 [Soon] after Hananiah had broken the yoke that was around my neck, Yahweh gave this message to me:
Mgbe Hananaya bụ onye amụma gbajisiri ịyagba ahụ Jeremaya, onye amụma nyanyere onwe ya nʼolu, okwu Onyenwe anyị ruru Jeremaya ntị sị ya,
13 “Go and say this to Hananiah: ‘Yahweh says that you have broken a wooden yoke, but that he will replace it with an iron yoke.
“Gaa gwa Hananaya okwu sị ya, ‘Ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru: Ị gbajiela agbụ e ji osisi mee, ma nʼọnọdụ ya ihe ị ga-enweta bụ agbụ igwe.
14 I have forced the people of all these nations to [become slaves of] King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. That is [like] [MET] an iron yoke around their necks. I have put everything, even wild animals, under his control.’”
Ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile, bụ Chineke Izrel, kwuru. Aga m anyanye mba ndị a niile agbụ igwe, i mee ka ha fee Nebukadneza eze Babilọn. Ha ga-efekwa ya. Aga m enyekwa ya ike ọ bụladị nʼebe ụmụ anụ ọhịa dị.’”
15 Then I [went to] Hananiah and said to him, “Hananiah, listen [to this]: Yahweh has not appointed you; instead, [you have told] lies to the people, and they have believed your lies.
Mgbe ahụ, Jeremaya onye amụma sịrị Hananaya onye amụma, “Gee ntị, Hananaya! Ọ bụghị Onyenwe anyị zitere gị, ma ị ghọgbuola mba a mee ka ha tụkwasị uche nʼokwu ụgha.
16 Therefore, this is what Yahweh says: ‘You will [soon] die. Before the end of this year, you will die, because you have rebelled against Yahweh.’”
Nʼihi nke a, otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru, ‘Ekpebiela m isite nʼụwa wepụ gị. Ị ga-anwụ nʼafọ a, nʼihi na i kwusaala nnupu isi megide Onyenwe anyị.’”
17 Hananiah died two months later.
Nʼọnwa asaa nke afọ ahụ Hananaya onye amụma nwụrụ.
