Exodus 11
1 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “I will cause one more disaster to strike the king of Egypt and all his people [MTY]. After that, he will let you leave. In fact, he will expel you all.
Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Je frapperai d'une dernière plaie le Pharaon et l'Égypte; après cela, il vous renverra de sa contrée, et lorsqu'il vous congédiera avec tout ce qui vous appartient, il aura hâte de vous voir partir.
2 So now speak to all the [Israeli] people. Tell them to ask all their [Egyptian] neighbors, both men and women, to give them some silver and gold jewelry.”
Parle donc en secret à ton peuple; que chacun demande à son voisin des vases d'argent et d'or, et des vêtements.
3 Yahweh made the Egyptians highly respect the Israeli people. In particular, the Egyptian officials and all [the rest of] the people considered Moses/me to be a very great man.
Le Seigneur a fait en sorte que son peuple trouve grâce devant les Égyptiens, et ceux-ci lui prêteront; car Moïse est très grand aux yeux des Égyptiens, du Pharaon et de ses serviteurs.
4 Then Moses/I [went to the king and] said, “This is what Yahweh says: ‘About midnight [tonight] I will go throughout Egypt,
Et Moïse dit: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Vers le milieu de la nuit je viendrai en Égypte.
5 and I will cause all the firstborn/oldest [sons] to die. That will include your oldest son, the oldest sons of the slave women who grind grain, [and the oldest sons of everyone else]. I will also kill the oldest males of the Egyptians’ livestock.
Et tout premier-né, en la terre d'Égypte, mourra; depuis le premier-né du Pharaon qui est assis sur le trône, jusqu'au premier-né de la servante qui tourne la meule, et jusqu'au premier-né des bestiaux.
6 When that happens, people all over Egypt will wail loudly. They have never wailed like that before, and they will never wail like that again.
Et il y aura dans toute l'Égypte une grande lamentation telle qu'il ne s'en est jamais entendu, et qu'il ne s'en fera plus entendre de semblable.
7 But among the Israeli people [it will be so quiet that] not even a dog will bark! Then you will know for sure that I, Yahweh, distinguish [how I act toward] the Egyptians and [how I act toward] the Israeli people.
Tandis que chez tous les fils d'Israël, depuis l'homme jusqu'aux bestiaux, pas un chien ne grondera de la langue; afin que tu saches quelle différence éclatante le Seigneur fera entre les Égyptiens et les fils d'Israël.
8 Then all these officials of yours will come and bow down before me and will say, “Please get out [of Egypt], you and all the Israeli people!”’ After that, I will leave Egypt!” [After Moses/I said that], he/I very angrily left the king.
Tous tes serviteurs que voici viendront à moi, et ils se prosterneront devant moi, en disant: Pars avec tout ton peuple; retourne d'où tu es venu, et alors je partirai; et Moïse quitta le Pharaon avec colère.
9 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “The king will not pay any attention to what you say. The result will be that I will perform more plagues in the land of Egypt.”
Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Le Pharaon ne vous écoutera pas, afin que je multiplie et multiplie mes signes et mes prodiges en la terre d'Égypte.
10 Aaron and Moses/I performed all these miracles in front of the king, but Yahweh made the king stubborn, and he did not let the Israeli people leave his country.
Or, Moïse et Aaron avaient fait tous ces signes et ces prodiges devant le Pharaon en la terre d'Égypte; mais le Seigneur avait endurci le cœur du Pharaon, et celui-ci n'avait point consenti à congédier les fils d'Israël.
