Deuteronomy 30
1 “I have now told you about the ways that Yahweh our God will bless you [if you obey him] and the ways that he will curse you [if you disobey him]. I am saying that you must choose which you want. But when [you choose not to obey his laws], some day you will be living in the countries to which he will scatter you, and you will remember [what I told you].
Cuando vengan sobre ti todas estas cosas, la bendición y la maldición, que he puesto ante tus ojos, y cuando las recapacites en tu corazón, en medio de todos los pueblos, entre los cuales te habrá arrojado Yahvé, tu Dios,
2 Then, if you return to Yahweh our God and faithfully [IDM] obey all that I have today commanded you to do,
y te vuelvas a Yahvé, tu Dios, escuchando su voz, conforme a todo lo que hoy te mando, tú y tus hijos, con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma,
3 he will be merciful to you. He will bring you back from the nations to which he scattered you, and he will cause you to be prosperous again.
entonces Yahvé, tu Dios, te hará volver del cautiverio, y se compadecerá de ti, y de nuevo te congregará de en medio de todos los pueblos, entre los cuales te habrá dispersado.
4 Even if you have been scattered to the most distant places on the earth, Yahweh our God will gather you from there and bring you back [to your land].
Aun cuando tus dispersados estuviesen en las extremidades del cielo, de allí te recogerá Yahvé, tu Dios, y de allí te sacará;
5 He will enable you to possess again the land where your ancestors lived. And he will cause you to be more prosperous and more numerous than you are now.
y te llevará Yahvé, tu Dios, al país que poseyeron tus padres; tú lo poseerás, y Él te hará bien y te multiplicará más que a tus padres.
6 Yahweh our God will change [MET] your inner beings, with the result that you will love him more than you love anything else and want to do only what he wants you to do. And then you will continue to live in that land.
Yahvé, tu Dios, circuncidará tu corazón y el corazón de tus descendientes, para que ames a Yahvé, Dios tuyo, con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, a fin de que tengas vida.
7 Yahweh our God will cause your enemies and those who oppressed/persecuted you to experience all the disasters that I have told you about.
Entonces Yahvé, tu Dios, arrojará todas estas maldiciones sobre tus enemigos y sobre los que te han odiado y perseguido.
8 You will do what Yahweh wants you to do, as you did before, and you will obey all the commands that I have given to you today.
Tu, empero, volverás a obedecer la voz de Yahvé, y cumplirás todos sus mandamientos que hoy te ordeno.
9 Yahweh our God will cause you to be very successful in all that you do. You will have many children [IDM], and a lot of cattle, and you will have abundant crops. He will again be happy to enable you to prosper, just like he was happy to enable your ancestors to prosper.
Y Yahvé, Dios tuyo, te dará bendiciones en todas las obras de tu mano, en el fruto de tu seno, en el fruto de tu ganado y en el fruto de tu tierra, para bien tuyo; porque Yahvé volverá a complacerse en ti, para bien tuyo, como se complacía en tus padres;
10 [But he will do those things only] if you do what he has told you to do, and if you obey all his rules and regulations that I have written about [in this scroll], and if you will love him more than you love anything else and want to do only what he wants you to do.
con tal que obedezcas la voz de Yahvé, tu Dios, guardando sus mandamientos y sus leyes que están escritos en este libro de la Ley, y te conviertas a Yahvé, Dios tuyo, con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.
11 The commands that I am giving to you today are not very difficult for you [to obey], and they are not [difficult to know].
Esta Ley, que yo hoy te intimo, no es demasiado difícil para ti, ni se halla lejos.
12 They are not in heaven, with the result that you need to say, ‘(Who will need to go up to heaven for us to bring them [down here to us] in order that we can hear them and obey them?/Someone will need to go up to heaven for us to bring them [down here to us] in order that we can hear them and obey them.)’ [RHQ]
No está en el cielo, de suerte que puedas decir: ‘¿Quién subirá por nosotros al cielo para que nos la traiga y nos la enseñe, y nosotros la pongamos por obra?’
13 And they are not on the other side of the sea, with the result that you need to say, ‘(Who will need to cross the sea for us and bring them back to us, in order that we can hear them and obey them?/Someone will need to cross the sea for us and bring them back to us, in order that we can hear them and obey them.)’ [RHQ]
Ni está más allá del mar, para que digas: ‘¿Quién pasará por nosotros al otro lado del mar para que nos la traiga y nos la enseñe, y nosotros la pongamos por obra?’
14 [You do not need to do that because] his commands are here with you. You know them [MTY] and you have (memorized them/put them in your minds). So you can [easily] obey them.
sino que la palabra está muy cerca de ti, está en tu boca y en tu corazón, para que puedas cumplirla.”
15 So listen! Today I am allowing you to choose between [doing what is] evil and [doing what is] good, between what will enable you to live [for a long time] and [what will cause you] to die [while you are still young].
“Mira qué hoy pongo ante ti la vida y el bien, la muerte y el mal;
16 [I say again], if you obey the commands of Yahweh our God that I am giving to you today, and if you love him and conduct your lives as he wants you to do, and if you obey all his rules and regulations, you will prosper and become very numerous, and Yahweh our God will bless you in the land that you are about to enter and possess.
pues lo que hoy te mando, es que ames a Yahvé, tu Dios, andando en sus caminos, y guardando sus mandamientos, sus leyes y sus preceptos, para que vivas y te multipliques, y para que Yahvé, tu Dios, te bendiga en el país en cuya posesión has de entrar.
17 But if you turn away [from Yahweh] and refuse to heed what he says, and if you allow yourselves to be led away to worship other gods,
Mas si tu corazón se aparta, de modo que no quieras escuchar, y si te dejas arrastrar a prosternarte ante otros dioses y darles culto,
18 I am warning you today that you will [soon] die. You will not live for a long time in the land that you are about to cross the Jordan [River] to enter and possess.
os declaro hoy que pereceréis sin remedio y que moraréis poco tiempo en la tierra a cuya conquista y posesión irás después de pasar el Jordán.
19 I am requesting that [everyone in] heaven and the earth testify to you, that today I am allowing you to choose whether you [want to] live for a long time or to soon die, whether [you want Yahweh to] bless you or to curse you. So choose to live.
Yo invoco hoy por testigos contra vosotros el cielo y la tierra, poniendo ante ti la vida y la muerte, la bendición y la maldición; escoge, pues, la vida, para que vivas tú y tu posteridad,
20 [Choose to] love Yahweh our God, and to obey him [MTY], and to (be faithful to/have a close relationship with) him. If you do that, you and your descendants will live for a long time in the land that Yahweh solemnly promised to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that he would give to them.”
amando a Yahvé, Dios tuyo, escuchando su voz y uniéndote a Él, porque Él es tu vida y la longitud de tus días, que vivirás en la tierra que Yahvé juró dar a tus padres: a Abrahán, a Isaac y a Jacob.”
