< 1 Samuel 3 >
1 [While he was still a] boy, Samuel was working for Yahweh while Eli supervised him. At that time there were very few messages [that anyone received] from Yahweh, and very few people saw visions [that Yahweh gave them].
Nagserbi ti ubing a ni Samuel kenni Yahweh babaen iti panangidalan ni Eli. Manmano ti sao ni Yahweh kadagidiay nga al-aldaw; awan unay ti sirmata maipanggep iti masakbayan.
2 By that time Eli’s eyes were very weak; he was almost blind. [One night] he was sleeping in his room,
Iti dayta a tiempo, idi ni Eli nga agkapsuten ti panagkitana a saan unayen a makakita, ket agid-idda iti bukodna a pagiddaan,
3 and Samuel was sleeping in the sacred tent, where the chest that contained the Ten Commandments was kept. While the sacred lamp was still burning,
Saan pay idi a naiddep ti pagsilawan ti Dios, ket ni Samuel, matmaturog iti balay ni Yahweh nga ayan ti lakasa ti tulag ti Dios.
4 Yahweh called, “Samuel! Samuel!” Samuel replied, “I’m here!”
Inawagan ni Yahweh ni Samuel, a nagkuna, “Adtoyak.”
5 Then he [got up and] ran to Eli. He said to him, “I am here, because you called me!” But Eli replied, “No, I did not call you. Go back to your bed.” So Samuel went and lay down again.
Timmaray ni Samuel iti ayan ni Eli, ket kinunana, “Immayak ta inayabannak.” Kinuna ni Eli, “Saanka nga inayaban; agsublika iti pagiddaam.” Isu a napan nagidda ni Samuel.
6 Then Yahweh called again, “Samuel!” So Samuel got up again and went to Eli and said, “I am here, because you called me!” But Eli said, “No, my son, I did not call you. Go back and lie down.”
Immawag manen ni Yahweh, “Samuel.” Bimmangon manen ni Samuel ket napan kenni Eli ket kinunana, “Inayabannak isu nga adtoyak.” Simmungbat ni Eli, “Saanka nga inayaban, anakko; inka pay agidda.”
7 At that time Samuel did not yet know [that] Yahweh [could speak to him], because Yahweh had not previously revealed anything to him.
Ita, awan pay ti kapadasan ni Samuel kenni Yahweh, wenno awan pay pulos ti aniaman a mensahe a naipakita kenkuana manipud kenni Yahweh.
8 [After Samuel lay down again], Yahweh called him a third time. So again Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “I am here, because you called me!” Then Eli realized that it was Yahweh who was calling the boy.
Inawagan manen ni Yahweh ni Samuel iti maikatlo a gundaway. Bimmangon manen ni Samuel ket napan kenni Eli ket kinunana, “Immayak ta inayabannak.” Ket naamiris ni Eli nga inawagan ni Yahweh ti ubing.
9 So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again. If someone calls you again, say ‘Speak to me, Yahweh, because I am listening!’” So Samuel went and lay down again.
Ket kinuna ni Eli kenni Samuel, “Mapanka agidda manen; no awagannaka manen, nasken nga ibagam, 'Agsaoka, O Yahweh, ta dumdumngeg ti adipenmo.”' Isu a napan nagidda manen ni Samuel iti pagid-iddaanna.
10 Then Yahweh came and stood there and called as he had done the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak to me, because I am listening!”
Immay ni Yahweh ket nagtakder; immawag a kas iti immuna, “Samuel, Samuel.” Ket kinuna ni Samuel, “Agsaoka, ta dumdumngeg ti adipenmo.”
11 Then Yahweh said to Samuel, “Listen carefully. I am about to do something here in Israel that will shock/horrify [IDM] everyone who hears about it.
Kinuna ni Yahweh kenni Samuel, “Dumngegka, umadanin nga aramidek iti Israel ti banag nga uray la agkintayeg dagiti lapayag ti amin a makangngeg iti daytoy.
12 When that happens, I will punish Eli and his family. I will do to them everything that I said that I would do.
Iti dayta nga aldaw, ipatungpalkonto kenni Eli dagiti amin nga imbagak maipanggep iti balayna, manipud iti rugi agingga iti pagpatinggaan.
13 His sons have shown great disrespect for me by the disgraceful things they have done, and Eli did not restrain them. So I told him that I would punish his family forever.
Imbagak kenkuana a dandanin nga ukomek a mammaminsan ti balayna gapu iti amin a basol nga ammona, gapu ta nangiyeg iti lunod dagiti annakna kadagiti bagbagida ket saanna ida nga inatipa.
14 I solemnly promised to Eli’s family, ‘You will never be able to avoid the consequences for your sin, even if you give me sacrifices or offerings.’”
Gapu iti daytoy, insapatak iti balay ni Eli a saanto pulos a mapakawan dagiti basol ti balayna babaen iti daton wenno sagut.”
15 Samuel lay down again until morning. Then he got up and opened the doors of the Sacred Tent [as usual]. He was afraid to tell Eli about the vision [that Yahweh had given him].
Nagidda ni Samuel agingga iti bigat; kalpasanna, linukatanna dagiti ruangan ti balay ni Yahweh. Ngem mabuteng ni Samuel a mangibaga kenni Eli iti maipanggep iti sirmata.
16 But Eli called him and said, “Samuel, my son!” Samuel answered, “I am here!”
Ket inayaban ni Eli ni Samuel a kunana, “Samuel, anakko.” Kinuna ni Samuel, “Adtoyak.”
17 Eli asked him, “What was it that Yahweh told you? Do not conceal it! I want God to punish you severely if you do not tell me everything that he said to you.”
Kinuna ni Eli, “Ania ti imbagana kenka? Saanmo koma nga ilimed kaniak. Dusaennaka ti Dios, ken ad-adda pay koma no ilimedmo kaniak ti aniaman nga imbagana kenka.”
18 So Samuel told him everything. He did not refuse to tell him anything. Then Eli said, “He is Yahweh. I am willing for him to do what he thinks is best.”
Imbaga amin ni Samuel kenkuana; awan ti inlimedna kenkuana. Kinuna ni Eli, “Ni Yahweh daytoy. Aramidenna koma ti kasayaatan a maaramid.”
19 As Samuel grew up, Yahweh helped him, and caused everything to (come true/happen) that Samuel predicted.
Dimmakkel ni Samuel, ket adda kenkuana ni Yahweh ket awan ti pimmalso kadagiti padtona.
20 So all the people of Israel, from the northern end of the country to the southern end, realized that Samuel was truly a prophet of Yahweh.
Ammo ti entero nga Israel manipud Dan agingga iti Beerseba a nadutokan ni Samuel nga agbalin a profeta ni Yahweh.
21 Yahweh continued to appear to Samuel in Shiloh and give messages to him.
Nagparang manen ni Yahweh idiay Silo, ta nagparang isuna a mismo kenni Samuel idiay Silo babaen iti saona.
