1 [the] words of Teacher [the] son of David king in Jerusalem.

2 Futility of futilities he said Teacher futility of futilities everything [is] futility.

3 What? profit [belongs] to humankind in all toil his that he toils under the sun.

4 A generation [is] going and a generation [is] coming and the earth for ever [is] continuing.
Thawnpuei loh cet tih cadil thoeng coeng dae diklai he kumhal duela a pai moenih.
5 And it rises the sun and it goes the sun and to place its [is] panting [is] rising it there.
Khomik loh thoeng tih khomik he kun bal. Te phoeiah amah hmuen te a hloem pahoi tih thoeng.
6 [it is] going To [the] south and [it is] circling to [the] north circling around - circling around [is] going the wind and on circuits its [is] returning the wind.
Tuithim la cet tih tlangpuei la aka mael khohli he a tinghil, a tinghil doela cet. Te phoeiah khohli he a hlaep la mael.
7 All the rivers [are] going to the sea and the sea not it [is] full to [the] place where the rivers [are] going there they [are] returning to go.
Soklong boeih khaw tuitunli la pawk. Tedae tuitunli tah hah tlaih pawh. Soklong rhoek khaw a long nah hmuen la mael tih cet.
8 All things [are] wearisome not he is able anyone to speak [them] not it is satisfied an eye by seeing and not it is filled an ear from hearing.
Olka boeih he bonghnaek. Hlang loh a thui hamla a noeng moenih. Mik loh a hmuh te hah pawt tih hna a yaak te cung pawh.
9 Whatever it has been it [is] which will be and whatever (which has been done *L(abh)*) it [is] which will be done and there not [is] any new [thing] under the sun.
Mebang khaw aka om tangtae bangla om bal vetih, mebang khaw a saii tangtae bangla a saii bal ni. Te dongah khomik hmuikah he a thai boeih moenih.
10 [is] there? Anything that anyone will say see this [is] new it already it has been to ancient times which it was from to before us.
“A thai he hmu lah, he tah khosuen lamloh om oepsoeh coeng tih mamih hlan lamloh om,’ a ti te ol om nim?
11 There not [is] remembrance of the former [things] and also of the subsequent [things] that they will be not it will be of them remembrance with who will be to the later [time].
Lamhma kah neh hmailong kah khaw poekkoepnah om pawh. Aka om ham te khaw hmailong kah aka om taengah poekkoepnah om mahpawh.
12 I Teacher I was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
Kai tah thuituenkung neh Jerusalem kah Israel soah manghai la ka om.
13 And I gave heart my to study and to discover by wisdom on all that it has been done under the heavens it - [is] a task of evil [which] he has given God to [the] children of humankind to be busy with it.
Vaan hmui kah a saii boeih te cueihnah neh dawtlet ham khaw, yaam ham khaw ka lungbuei ka paek. Hlang capa rhoek te amah phaep uh saeh tila Pathen loh yoethae bibi a khueh pah.
14 I have seen all the works that have been done under the sun and there! everything [is] futility and striving of wind.
Khomik hmui kah a saii bitat boeih te ka hmuh. Te dongah a cungkuem he a honghi neh khohli doinah ni ne.
15 [something] bent Not it is able to become straight and something missing not it is able to be numbered.
Aka khun he dueng hamla coeng pawt tih vitvawtnah khaw tae hamla coeng pawh.
16 I have spoken I with heart my saying I here! I have made great and I have increased wisdom above every [one] who he was before me over Jerusalem and heart my it has seen much wisdom and knowledge.
Kamah tah ka lungbuei ah ka cal tih, “Ka pantai tih Jerusalem ah khaw ka mikhmuh kah aka om boeih lakah cueihnah ka thap, ka lungbuei long khaw cueihnah neh mingnah muep a hmuh la he,” ka ti.
17 And I gave! heart my to know wisdom and to know madness and folly I knew that also this it [is] a striving of wind.
Ka lungbuei he cueihnah ming ham neh anglatnah ming ham ka paek. Te dongah lunghmangnah he khaw khohli dongkah kohnek ni tila ka ming.
18 For [is] in abundance of wisdom abundance of frustration so someone may increase knowledge he will increase pain.
Cueihnah a cungkuem nen khaw konoinah cungkuem tih, mingnah a koei khaw nganboh ni a koei.
