< Proverbs 1 >
1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
Iyi ndi miyambi ya Solomoni mwana wa Davide, mfumu ya Israeli:
2 For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
Ndi yothandiza kuti munthu adziwe nzeru ndi malangizo; kuti amvetse mawu a matanthauzo ozama;
3 For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
kuti alandire malangizo othandiza kuti achite zinthu mwanzeru, akhale wangwiro, wachilungamo ndiponso wosakondera.
4 For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
Ndi yothandiza munthu wamba kuti aphunzire nzeru za kuchenjera, achinyamata kudziwa zinthu bwino ndi kulingalira.
5 A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
Munthu wanzeru amvetse bwino miyamboyi kuti awonjezere kuphunzira kwake, ndi munthu womvetsa zinthu bwino apatepo luso,
6 By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
kuti azimvetsa miyambi ndi mafanizo, mawu a anthu anzeru ndi mikuluwiko.
7 The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
Kuopa Yehova ndiye chiyambi cha nzeru. Zitsiru zimanyoza nzeru ndi malangizo.
8 Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
Mwana wanga, mvera malangizo a abambo ako ndipo usakane mawu okuwongolera a amayi ako.
9 For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
Ali ngati sangamutu yokongola ya maluwa pamutu pako ndiponso ali ngati mkanda mʼkhosi mwako.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
Mwana wanga, ngati anthu oyipa afuna kukukopa usamawamvere.
11 If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
Akadzati, “Tiye kuno; tikabisale kuti tiphe anthu, tikabisalire anthu osalakwa;
12 Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol )
tiwameze amoyo ngati manda, ndi athunthu ngati anthu otsikira mʼdzenje. (Sheol )
13 All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
Motero tidzapeza zinthu zosiyanasiyana zamtengowapatali ndi kudzaza nyumba zathu ndi zolanda;
14 Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
Bwera, chita nafe maere, ndipo tidzagawana chuma chathu tonse.”
15 My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
Mwana wanga, usayende nawo pamodzi, usatsagane nawo mʼnjira zawozo.
16 For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
Iwowatu amangofuna zoyipa zokhazokha, amathamangira kukhetsa magazi.
17 Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
Nʼkopanda phindu kutchera msampha mbalame zikuona!
18 Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
Koma anthu amenewa amangobisalira miyoyo yawo yomwe; amangodzitchera okha msampha!
19 Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
Awa ndiwo mathero a anthu opeza chuma mwankhanza; chumacho chimapha mwiniwake.
20 Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
Nzeru ikufuwula mu msewu, ikuyankhula mokweza mawu mʼmisika;
21 At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
ikufuwula pa mphambano ya misewu, ikuyankhula pa zipata za mzinda kuti,
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
“Kodi inu anthu osachangamukanu, mudzakondwera ndi kusachangamuka mpaka liti? Nanga anthu onyogodola adzakondabe kunyogodola mpaka liti? Kapena opusa adzadana ndi nzeru mpaka liti?
23 Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
Tamverani mawu anga a chidzudzulo. Ine ndikukuwuzani maganizo anga ndi kukudziwitsani mawu anga.
24 Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
Popeza ndinakuyitanani koma inu munakana kumvera. Ndinayesa kukuthandizani koma panalibe amene anasamala.
25 But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
Uphungu wanga munawunyoza. Kudzudzula kwanga simunakusamale.
26 I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
Ndiye inenso ndidzakusekani mukadzakhala mʼmavuto; ndidzakunyogodolani chikadzakugwerani chimene mumachiopacho.
27 When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
Chiwonongeko chikadzakugwerani ngati namondwe, tsoka likadzakufikirani ngati kamvuluvulu, mavuto ndi masautso akadzakugwerani.
28 Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
“Tsono mudzandiyitana koma sindidzayankha; mudzandifunafuna, koma simudzandipeza.
29 Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
Popeza iwo anadana ndi chidziwitso ndipo sanasankhe kuopa Yehova,
30 Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
popeza iwo sanasamale malangizo anga ndipo ananyoza chidzudzulo changa.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
Tsono adzadya zipatso zoyenera mayendedwe awo ndi kukhuta ndi ntchito zimene anachita kwa ena.
32 For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
Pakuti anthu osachangamuka amaphedwa chifukwa cha kusochera kwawo, ndipo zitsiru zimadziwononga zokha chifukwa cha mphwayi zawo.
33 Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
Koma aliyense wondimvera adzakhala mwa bata; adzakhala mosatekeseka posaopa chilichonse.”
