Judges 9
1 Then went Abimelech son of Jerubbaal, to Shechem, unto the brethren of his mother, —and spake unto them, and unto all the family of the house of his mother’s father, saying;
யெருபாகாலின் மகன் அபிமெலேக்கு சீகேமிலுள்ள தன் தாயின் சகோதரர்களிடத்திற்குப் போனான். அங்கே அவர்களிடமும் தன் தாயின் வம்சத்தார் எல்லோரிடமும்,
2 Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the owners of Shechem—Which is better for you, that there should rule over you, seventy men, all sons of Jerubbaal, or that there should rule over you, one man? And remember that, your bone and your flesh, am I.
“நீங்கள் சீகேமின் குடியிருப்பாளர்களிடம், ‘உங்களை யெருபாகாலின் எழுபது மகன்களும் ஆட்சி செய்வதோ, அல்லது ஒருவன் மாத்திரம் ஆட்சி செய்வதோ உங்களுக்கு எது சிறந்தது?’ என்று கேளுங்கள், நான் உங்களின் இரத்தமும் சதையுமானவன் என்பதையும் நினைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்” என்று சொன்னான்.
3 So the brethren of his mother spake for him, in the ears of all the owners of Shechem, all these words, —and their heart inclined after Abimelech, for they said—Our own brother, is he.
அப்படியே அவன் தாயின் சகோதரர்கள் சீகேமிலிருக்கிற எல்லா பெரிய மனிதர்களும் கேட்க இந்த வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் அவனுக்காகப் பேசினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது, “அவன் நம்முடைய சகோதரன்” என்று அவர்கள் சொன்னதினால், அவர்களும் அபிமெலேக்கைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.
4 So they gave him seventy pieces of silver, out of the house of Baal-berith, —and Abimelech hired therewith, loose and unstable men, and they followed him.
அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் பாகால் பேரீத்தின் கோயிலிலிருந்து எழுபது சேக்கல் நிறையுள்ள வெள்ளியை அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள். அபிமெலேக்கு அப்பணத்தைக் கொண்டு முன்யோசனையற்ற முரட்டுத் துணிச்சலுள்ளவர்களைக் கூலிக்கு அமர்த்தினான். அவர்கள் அவனைப் பின்பற்றினர்.
5 And he entered the house of his father, at Ophrah, and slew his brethren, sons of Jerubbaal, seventy men, upon one stone, —but there remained Jotham, the youngest son of Jerubbaal, for he had hidden himself.
அவன் ஒப்ராவிலுள்ள தனது தந்தையின் வீட்டிற்குப்போய், அங்கே யெருபாகாலின் மகன்களான தனது சகோதரர்கள் எழுபதுபேரையும் ஒரே கல்லின்மேல் கொலைசெய்தான்; ஆனால் யெருபாகாலின் இளையமகன் யோதாம் ஒளிந்த்திருந்து தப்பித்துக்கொண்டான்.
6 Then were gathered together all the owners of Shechem, and all the house of Millo, and they went and made Abimelech king, —by the oak of the pillar, that was in Shechem.
அப்பொழுது சீகேமிலும், பெத் மிலோவிலுமுள்ள எல்லா குடிகளும் சீகேமின் தூணின் அருகேயுள்ள பெரிய மரத்தினடியில் அபிமெலேக்கை அரசனாக முடிசூட்டுவதற்காக ஒன்றுகூடி வந்தார்கள்.
7 And, when it was told Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried aloud, —and said unto them—Hearken unto me, ye owners of Shechem, and may God, hearken unto you.
இதை யோதாம் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவன் கெரிசீம் மலையுச்சியில் ஏறி அவர்களைச் சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிட்டு, “சீகேமின் குடிகளே எனக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது இறைவன் உங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பார்.
8 The trees, went their way, to anoint over them, a king, —and they said unto the olive tree—Reign thou over us.
ஒரு நாள் மரங்களெல்லாம் தங்களுக்குள் ஒரு அரசனை நியமிக்கப் போயின. அதன்படி அவை ஒலிவமரத்தைப் பார்த்து, ‘நீ எங்கள் அரசனாயிரு’ என்றன.
9 But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, which, in me, gods and men do honour, —and go to wave to and fro, over the trees?
“ஆனால் ஒலிவ மரமோ, ‘தெய்வங்களையும், மனிதர்களையும் கனம்பண்ணப் பயன்படுத்தும் என் எண்ணெயை விட்டு மரங்களுக்கு மேலாக அசைவாடுவேனோ?’ என்று கேட்டது.
10 Then said the trees unto the fig-tree, —Come! thou reign over us.
“பின் மரங்கள் அத்திமரத்திடம், ‘நீ வந்து எங்களுக்கு அரசனாயிரு’ என்றன.
11 But the fig-tree said unto them, Should I leave my sweetness, and mine excellent increase, —and go to wave to and fro, over the trees?
“ஆனால் அத்திமரமோ, ‘நான் என் சிறந்த ருசியான பழங்களை விட்டு மரங்களுக்கு மேலாக நின்று அசைவாடுவேனோ?’ என்றது.
12 Then said the trees unto the vine, —Come! thou, reign over us.
“அப்பொழுது மரங்கள் திராட்சை செடியிடம், ‘நீ வந்து எங்களுக்கு அரசனாயிரு’ என்றன.
13 But the vine said unto them, Should I leave my new wine, that rejoiceth gods and men, —and go to wave to and fro, over the trees?
“ஆனால் திராட்சைச்செடி, ‘தெய்வங்களையும், மனிதர்களையும் உற்சாகமூட்டும் என் இரசத்தைவிட்டு உங்கள் மேலாக நின்று அசைவாடுவேனோ?’ என்றது.
14 Then said all the trees, unto the bramble, —Come, thou, to reign over us.
“கடைசியாக எல்லா மரங்களும் சேர்ந்து முட்செடியிடம், ‘நீ வந்து எங்கள் அரசனாயிரு’ என்றன.
15 And the bramble said unto the trees, If, in truth, ye are about to anoint me to be king over you, come, take refuge in my shade, —but, if not, there shall come forth fire out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
“அதற்கு முட்செடி மரங்களிடம், ‘நீங்கள் என்னை அரசனாக அபிஷேகம் பண்ணுவது உண்மையானால், எல்லோரும் வந்து என் நிழலில் அடைக்கலம் புகுந்துகொள்ளுங்கள். இல்லாவிட்டால் முட்செடியிலிருந்து நெருப்பு வந்து லெபனோனின் கேதுரு மரங்களை எரிக்கட்டும்’ என்றது.
16 Now, therefore, if, in truth and sincerity, ye have acted, in making Abimelech king, —and if ye have dealt, well, with Jerubbaal and with his house, and if, according to the deserving of his hands, ye have done unto him;
“இப்பொழுதும் நீங்கள் அபிமெலேக்கை அரசனாக்கியபோது, உண்மையாகவும், நேர்மையாகவும் செயல்பட்டீர்களோ? யெருபாகாலுக்கும் அவனுடைய குடும்பத்தாருக்கும் நீங்கள் செய்தது சரியானதா? நீங்கள் எனது தகப்பனுக்கு கொடுக்கவேண்டிய மதிப்பை கொடுத்தீர்களா?
17 in that my father fought for you, and cast his soul away from before him, and rescued you out of the hand of Midian; —
எனது தகப்பன் உங்களுக்காகச் சண்டையிட்டு, தனது உயிரையும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல், மீதியானியரின் கையிலிருந்து உங்களை விடுவித்துக்கொண்டார் என்பதை நினைத்துப் பாருங்கள்.
18 yet have, ye, risen up against the house of my father, to-day, and slain his sons—seventy men, upon one stone, —and made Abimelech, son of his maidservant, king over the owners of Shechem, because he is, your brother;
ஆனால் இன்று நீங்களோ எனது தகப்பனின் குடும்பத்திற்கு எதிராகக் கலகம்செய்து, அவரது மகன்கள் எழுபதுபேரையும் ஒரு கல்லின்மேல் கொலைசெய்தீர்கள். அவரது அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் மகன் அபிமெலேக்கை, உங்கள் சகோதரனாகையால் சீகேமின் குடிகளுக்கு மேலாக அரசனாக்கியிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
19 if then, in truth and in sincerity, ye have dealt with Jerubbaal and with his house, this day, rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let, him also, rejoice in you;
நீங்களோ யெருபாகாலுடனும் அவனின் குடும்பத்துடனும் நேர்மையாகவும், உண்மையாகவும் இன்று நடந்திருந்தால், உங்களுக்காக அபிமெலேக்கு உங்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கட்டும். நீங்களும் அவனின் மகிழ்ச்சியாய் இருங்கள்.
20 but, if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the owners of Shechem, and the house of Millo, —and let fire come out from the owners of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech!
அப்படியில்லையானால் அபிமெலேக்கிலிருந்து நெருப்பு எழும்பி உங்களையும், சீகேமின் குடிகளையும் பெத் மிலோனின் குடிகளையும் எரித்துப்போடட்டும். உங்களிலிருந்தும், சீகேமின் குடிகளிலிருந்தும், பெத்மில்லோன் குடிகளிலிருந்தும் நெருப்பு எழும்பி, அபிமெலேக்கையும் எரித்துப்போடட்டும்” என்று சொல்லி முடித்தான்.
21 And Jotham hasted away, and fled, and went to Beer, —and dwelt there, away from the face of Abimelech his brother.
அவற்றைச் சொன்னபின்பு யோதாம் தன் சகோதரன் அபிமெலேக்கிற்கு பயந்ததினால் தான் இருந்த இடத்தைவிட்டு பேயேர் என்னும் இடத்திற்குத் தப்பி ஓடி அங்கே இருந்தான்.
22 And Abimelech ruled over Israel three years.
அபிமெலேக்கு இஸ்ரயேலை மூன்று வருடங்கள் அரசாண்டான்.
23 Then God let go a spirit of mischief between Abimelech and the owners of Shechem, —and the owners of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:
அதன்பின்பு இறைவன் அபிமெலேக்கிற்கும், சீகேமின் குடிகளுக்கும் இடையில் ஒரு பொல்லாத ஆவியை அனுப்பினார். அப்பொழுது சீகேமின் குடிகள் அபிமெலேக்கிற்கு எதிராகத் துரோகமாய் நடந்தார்கள்.
24 that the cruel wrong to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might [come upon them], —and that their blood might be laid upon Abimelech their brother, who slew them, and upon the owners of Shechem who strengthened his hands, to slay his brethren.
யெருபாகாலின் எழுபது மகன்களான தனது சகோதரர்களின் இரத்தத்தை சிந்தி, அவர்களுக்கு எதிராக அபிமெலேக் செய்த குற்றத்திற்காக அவனைப் பழிவாங்குவதற்காகவே இறைவன் இதைச் செய்தார். சீகேமின் குடிகள் அவனுடைய சகோதரர்களைக் கொலைசெய்ய உதவிசெய்ததற்காக அவர்கள்மேலும் இறைவன் இதைச் செய்தார்.
25 So the owners of Shechem set for him liers in wait, upon the tops of the mountains, and they robbed all who crossed over them by the road, —and it was told Abimelech.
அபிமெலேக்கை எதிர்த்து மலையுச்சியில் பதுங்கியிருந்து அவ்வழியே போவோரைக் கொள்ளையிடுவதற்காக சீகேமின் குடிகள் மனிதரை ஏற்படுத்தினர். இது அபிமெலேக்கிற்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
26 And Gaal son of Ebed came, with his brethren, and they passed through to Shechem, —and the owners of Shechem put their trust in him.
இப்பொழுது ஏபேத்தின் மகன் காகால் தனது சகோதரர்களுடன் சீகேமுக்குப் போனான். சீகேமின் குடிகள் அவனில் நம்பிக்கை வைத்தனர்.
27 Then went they out into the fields, and gathered the fruit of their vineyards and trode [the grapes], and held a vintage festival, —and entered the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and poured contempt on Abimelech.
அங்கிருந்து அவர்கள் திராட்சைத் தோட்டங்களுக்குப் போய் பழங்களைச் சேர்த்து அதை மிதித்துப் பிழிந்தனர். பின்பு அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய தெய்வத்தின் கோயிலில் பண்டிகை கொண்டாடினர். அவர்கள் உண்டு குடிக்கையில் அபிமெலேக்கைச் சபித்தனர்.
28 And Gaal son of Ebed said: Who is Abimelech—and who is the son of Shechem, that we should serve him? Is he not the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? Serve ye the men of Hamor, Shechem’s father, but why should, we, serve him?
ஏபேத்தின் மகன் காகால் அவர்களிடம், “அபிமெலேக் யார்? சீகேமியரான நாம் யார்? சீகேமியர்களாகிய நாம் அபிமெலேக்கிற்கு ஏன் கீழ்ப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டும்? இவன் யெருபாகாலின் மகன் அல்லவா? சேபூல் அவனுடைய உதவியாளன் அல்லவா? சீகேமின் தகப்பனான ஏமோரின் மனிதர்களுக்குப் பணிசெய்யுங்கள். நாம் எதற்காக அபிமெலேக்கிற்கு பணிசெய்ய வேண்டும்?
29 Would, then, this people were in my hand! that I might set aside Abimelech, —and say to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out!
இந்த மனிதர் மட்டும் என் கட்டளைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிருப்பார்களாயின் நான் அபிமெலேக்கை அழித்துவிடுவேன். நான் அபிமெலேக்கிடம், ‘உனது படையை திரட்டிக்கொண்டு போருக்கு வா’ என்று சொல்வேன்” என்றான்.
30 And, when Zubul, governor of the city, heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, then was kindled his anger.
ஏபேத்தின் மகன் காகால் சொன்னதைக் கேட்ட பட்டணத்தின் ஆளுநரான சேபூல் மிகவும் கோபமடைந்தான்.
31 And he sent messengers unto Abimelech, by deceit, saying, —Lo! Gaal son of Ebed, and his brethren, are coming into Shechem; and lo! are fortifying the city against thee.
எனவே அவன் இரகசியமாக அபிமெலேக்கிற்கு தூதுவரை அனுப்பி, “ஏபேத்தின் மகன் காகால் தன் சகோதரர்களுடன் சீகேமுக்கு வந்து பட்டணத்து மக்களை உனக்கு எதிராக தூண்டிவிடுகிறான்.
32 Now, therefore, up by night, thou and the people that are with thee, and lie in wait in the field;
எனவே நீயும் உன் மனிதர்களும் இரவுவேளையில் வந்து வயல்வெளிகளில் பதுங்கிக் காத்திருக்கவேண்டும்.
33 and it shall be, in the morning, about sunrise, thou shalt get up early, and spread thyself out against the city, —when lo! he and the people that are with him coming out against thee, so shalt thou do unto him as thy hand shall find opportunity.
காலையில் சூரியன் உதிக்கும் நேரம் பட்டணத்தை நோக்கி முன்னேறுங்கள். காகாலும் அவனுடைய மனிதர்களும் உனக்கெதிராக வெளியே வரும்போது, உன் கையால், செய்ய முடியுமானதை செய்” என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.
34 So Abimelech rose up, and all the people that were with him, by night, —and they lay in wait above Shechem, in four companies.
அவ்வாறே அபிமெலேக்கு அன்றிரவு தனது படைகளுடன் புறப்பட்டுபோய், சீகேமுக்கு அருகில் சென்று நான்கு பிரிவுகளாக நிலைகொண்டு மறைந்திருந்தான்.
35 Then came forth Gaal son of Ebed, and took his stand at the opening of the gate of the city, —so Abimelech rose up, and the people that were with him, from the place of ambush.
ஏபேத்தின் மகன் காகால் வெளியே போய் பட்டணத்தின் நுழைவாசலில் வந்து நின்றான்; அப்பொழுது அபிமெலேக்கும் அவனுடைய வீரர்களும் தாங்கள் மறைந்திருந்த இடங்களிலிருந்து வெளியே வந்தார்கள்.
36 And, when Gaal saw the people, he said unto Zebul, Lo! people coming down from the tops of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, The shadow of the mountains, thou seest, like men.
காகால் அவர்களைக் கண்டபோது சேபூலிடம், “அதோ பார், மலையின் உச்சியிலிருந்து மக்கள் இறங்கி வருகிறார்கள்” என்றான். அதற்கு சேபூல், “நீ மலைகளின் நிழல்களை மனிதன் என்று தவறாக நினைக்கிறாய்” என்றான்.
37 Then did Gaal yet further speak, and say—Lo! people coming down from the highest part of the land, —and one company, coming in by way of the Conjurers’ Terebinth.
ஆனால் காகால் திரும்பவும், “அதோ பார், நாட்டின் நடுவில் உயர்ந்த பகுதியிலிருந்து மக்கள் இறங்கி வருகிறார்கள். அதோடு குறிசொல்வோரின் ஒரு பிரிவு கர்வாலி மரப்பாதையிலிருந்து வருகிறது” என்றான்.
38 So then Zebul said unto him—Where, then, is thy mouth that kept on saying, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? Is not, this, the people which thou didst despise? Go forth, I pray thee, now, and fight with them!
அப்பொழுது சேபூல் அவனிடம், “இப்பொழுது நீ பெரிய கதை அளந்தாயே, அது எங்கே? அபிமெலேக் யார்? நாம் ஏன் அவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டும் என்று நீ இழிவாகப் பேசிய மனிதர்கள் இவர்களல்லவா. புறப்பட்டுப்போய் அவர்களுடன் சண்டையிடு” என்றான்.
39 And Gaal went forth before the owners of Shechem, —and fought against Abimelech.
காகால் சீகேமின் குடிகளுடன் சென்று அபிமெலேக்குடன் சண்டையிட்டான்.
40 And Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, —and there fell a multitude of slain as far as the entering of the gate.
அபிமெலேக்கு அவனைத் துரத்தினான்; அநேகர் ஓடிப்போகையில் பட்டணத்தின் வாசல்வரை காயமுற்று விழுந்தார்கள்.
41 Then dwelt Abimelech in Arumah, —and Zebul thrust out Gaal and his brethren, that they should not dwell in Shechem.
அபிமெலேக்கு அருமாவிலே தங்கியிருந்தான். சேபூல், காகாலையும் அவன் சகோதரர்களையும் சீகேமிலிருந்து வெளியே துரத்திவிட்டான்.
42 And it came to pass, on the morrow, that the people went forth into the field, —and they told Abimelech.
அடுத்தநாள் சீகேமின் குடிகள் வயல்களுக்குப் போனார்கள். இது அபிமெலேக்கிற்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
43 So he took the people and divided them into three companies, and lay in wait in the field, —and he looked, and lo! the people coming forth out of the city, so he rose up against them, and smote them.
எனவே அவன் தனது மக்களை மூன்று பிரிவுகளாகப் பிரித்து வயல்களில் மறைந்திருக்கச் செய்தான். பட்டணத்திலிருந்து மக்கள் வெளியே வருவதை அவன் கண்டதும், அவன் அவர்களைத் தாக்குவதற்கு எழுந்தான்.
44 And, Abimelech, and the companies that were with him, spread themselves out, and [one of the companies] took their stand at the opening of the gate of the city, —while, the two companies, spread themselves out against all that were in the field, and smote them.
அபிமெலேக்கும், அவனுடன் இருந்த பிரிவினரும் தாங்கள் இருந்த இடத்திலிருந்து முன்னேறி பட்டணத்தின் நுழைவாசலுக்குள் விரைந்து சென்றார்கள். மற்ற இரு பிரிவினரும் வயல்களில் இருந்தவர்களின்மேல் பாய்ந்து அவர்களை அடித்து வீழ்த்தினார்கள்.
45 And, Abimelech, fought against the city, all that day, and captured the city, the people also that were therein, he slew, —and brake down the city, and sowed it with salt.
அபிமெலேக்கு அந்த நாள்முழுவதும் பட்டணத்திற்கெதிரான தனது தாக்குதலைக் கடுமையாக்கி அந்தப் பட்டணத்தைப் பிடித்து, அங்குள்ள மக்களைக் கொலைசெய்தான். பின் அப்பட்டணத்தை அழித்து அதிலே உப்புத் தூவினான்.
46 And, when all the owners of the tower of Shechem heard, they entered into the basement of the house of El-berith.
சீகேமின் கோபுரத்தில் இருந்த குடிமக்கள் இவற்றைக் கேள்விப்பட்டவுடன், “ஏல் பெரீத்” கோவில்களின் அரண்களுக்குள் போனார்கள்.
47 And it was told Abimelech, that all the owners of the tower of Shechem had gathered themselves together.
இவர்கள் எல்லோரும் கோவிலுக்குள் கூடியிருக்கிறார்கள் என்று அபிமெலேக்கு கேள்விப்பட்டான்.
48 So Abimelech went up Mount Zalmon, he and all the people that were with him, and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a bough from the trees, and lifted it, and laid it on his shoulder, —and said unto the people that were with him—What ye have seen me do, haste! do likewise.
அப்பொழுது அபிமெலேக்கும் அவனுடைய மனிதர்களும் சல்மோன் மலைக்கு ஏறிப்போனார்கள். அங்கே அபிமெலேக்கு கோடரியை எடுத்து மரத்தின் சில கிளைகளை வெட்டி, தனது தோளின்மேல் வைத்துக்கொண்டான். பின் அவனோடிருந்த மனிதர்களிடம், “நான் செய்வதைப்போல் நீங்களும் விரைவாகச் செய்யுங்கள்” என்றான்.
49 So, even all the people cut down every man his bough, and followed Abimelech, and laid them over the basement, and set it on fire over them who were therein, —even all the men of the tower of Shechem died about a thousand men and women.
எனவே எல்லா மனிதர்களும் கிளைகளை வெட்டிக்கொண்டு அபிமெலேக்கைப் பின்பற்றிச் சென்றார்கள். அவர்கள் அந்தக் கிளைகளை அரணைச் சுற்றி அடுக்கிவைத்து, மக்கள் உள்ளே இருக்கத்தக்கதாகத் நெருப்பிட்டுக் கொளுத்தினார்கள். எனவே சீகேமின் கோபுரத்திற்குள் இருந்த கிட்டத்தட்ட ஆயிரம் ஆண்களும் பெண்களும் செத்துப் போனார்கள்.
50 Then went Abimelech unto Thebez, —and encamped against Thebez, and captured it.
அதன்பின் அபிமெலேக்கு தேபேஸ் பட்டணத்திற்குப் போய் அதை முற்றுகையிட்டுக் கைப்பற்றினான்.
51 Now, a strong tower, was in the midst of the city, and there fled thither all the men and the women, and all the owners of the city, and shut themselves in, —and went up on the roof of the tower.
ஆயினும் பட்டணத்திற்குள்ளே ஒரு பலமான கோபுரம் இருந்தது. அந்த பட்டணத்திலிருந்த ஆண்களும், பெண்களுமாக எல்லா மக்களும் அந்த கோபுரத்துக்குள்ளே தப்பி ஓடினார்கள்.
52 And Abimelech came in as far as the tower, and fought against it, —and so came near, as far as the entrance of the tower, to burn it with fire.
அவர்கள் தாங்கள் உள்ளே சென்று கதவைப் பூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அந்த கோபுரத்தின் கூரையிலே ஏறினார்கள். அபிமெலேக்கு கோபுரத்துக்குச் சென்று அதைத் தாக்கினான். அவன் அந்த கோபுரத்திற்கு நெருப்பு மூட்டுவதற்காக அதற்கு அருகில் வந்தான்.
53 And a certain woman cast an upper millstone upon the head of Abimelech, —and brake in pieces his skull.
அப்பொழுது மேலே இருந்த ஒரு பெண் திரிகைக்கல்லை அவனுடைய தலைக்குமேல் எறிய அவனுடைய மண்டையோடு வெடித்தது.
54 Then called he hastily unto the young man bearing his armour, and said unto him—Draw thy sword, and put me to death, lest they say of me, A woman, slew him! So his young man thrust him through, and he died.
அப்பொழுது அபிமெலேக்கு தன் ஆயுததாரியை அவசரமாக அழைத்து, “உனது வாளை எடுத்து என்னைக் கொன்றுவிடு. ‘ஒரு பெண் அவனைக் கொன்றாள்’ என்று எப்பொழுதும் யாரும் சொல்லக்கூடாது” என்றான். எனவே அந்த வேலைக்காரன் அவனை வாளால் ஊடுருவக் குத்தினான். அப்பொழுது அவன் இறந்தான்.
55 And, when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was, dead, they went their way every man to his own place.
அபிமெலேக்கு இறந்துபோனதை அறிந்த இஸ்ரயேலர் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குப் போனார்கள்.
56 Thus did God requite the wickedness of Abimelech, which he had done to his father, in slaying his seventy brethren;
அபிமெலேக்குத் தன் எழுபது சகோதரர்களைக் கொன்று தன் தந்தைக்குச் செய்த கொடிய செயலுக்காக, இறைவன் இவ்வாறு அவனைத் தண்டித்தார்.
57 all the wickedness also, of the men of Shechem, did God requite upon their own head, —and so brought in upon, them the curse of Jotham, son of Jerubbaal.
சீகேம் மனிதர் செய்த கொடுமைகளுக்காக இறைவன் அவர்களையும் தண்டித்தார். யெருபாகாலின் மகன் யோதாமின் சாபம் அவர்கள்மேல் வந்தது.
