Joshua 1
1 And it came to pass, after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, —that Yahweh spake unto Joshua son of Nun, the attendant of Moses, saying:
யெகோவாவின் ஊழியன் மோசே இறந்தபின், மோசேயின் உதவியாளனான நூனின் மகனாகிய யோசுவாவிடம் யெகோவா கூறியதாவது:
2 Moses my servant, is dead, —Now, therefore, arise, pass over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, into the land which I am giving unto them—unto the sons of Israel.
“என் ஊழியக்காரனாகிய மோசே இறந்துவிட்டான். நீயும் இந்த மக்களும் எழுந்து, நான் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களுக்குக் கொடுக்க இருக்கும் நாட்டிற்குள் போகும்படி, இப்பொழுதே யோர்தான் நதியைக் கடக்க ஆயத்தமாகுங்கள்.
3 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread, unto you, have I given it, —as I spake unto Moses.
மோசேக்கு நான் வாக்களித்தபடியே நீங்கள் காலடிவைக்கும் இடத்தையெல்லாம், நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பேன்.
4 From the desert and this Lebanon, even unto the great river—the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea, toward the going in of the sun, shall be your boundary.
பாலைவனத்திலிருந்து, லெபனோன் வரைக்கும், யூப்ரட்டீஸ் நதியிலிருந்து, பெரிய நதிவரைக்கும் உள்ள ஏத்தியருடைய நாடு முழுவதும் மேற்கேயுள்ள மத்தியத் தரைக்கடல் வரைக்கும் உங்களுக்குரிய பிரதேசத்தின் நிலப்பகுதி பரந்திருக்கும்.
5 No man shall stand before thee, all the days of thy life, —as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee, I will not fail thee, neither will I forsake thee.
உன் வாழ்நாளெல்லாம் உன்னை எதிர்த்து வெற்றிபெற எவனாலும் முடியாதிருக்கும். நான் மோசேயுடன் இருந்ததுபோல, உன்னுடனும் இருப்பேன்; நான் ஒருபோதும் உன்னைவிட்டு விலகவுமாட்டேன்; உன்னைக் கைவிடவுமாட்டேன்.
6 Be firm and bold, —for, thou, shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers, —to give unto them.
நீ பலங்கொண்டு தைரியமாய் இரு; ஏனெனில் நான் இந்த மக்களின் முற்பிதாக்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என ஆணையிட்ட நாட்டை அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி, நீ அவர்களை வழிநடத்துவாய்.
7 Only be very firm and bold, taking heed to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded thee, do not turn aside therefrom, to the right hand or to the left, —that thou mayest prosper, whithersoever thou goest.
“பலங்கொண்டு மிகத்தைரியமாயிரு. என் ஊழியன் மோசே உனக்கு அளித்த சட்டங்களுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியக் கவனமாயிரு; அவற்றைவிட்டு வலதுபுறமோ இடதுபுறமோ நீ விலகாதே; அப்பொழுது நீ செல்லுமிடமெல்லாம் வெற்றிபெறுவாய்.
8 This scroll of the law must not cease out of thy mouth, but thou must talk to thyself therein, day and night, that thou mayest take heed to do according to all that is written therein, —for, then, shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and, then, shalt thou have good success.
இந்த சட்டத்தின் புத்தகத்தை உன் வாயிலிருந்து விலக்காமல் தொடர்ந்துபடி; அதில் எழுதியிருக்கிற யாவற்றையும் செய்யக் கவனமாயிருக்கும்படி, அதில் இரவும் பகலும் தியானமாய் இரு. அப்பொழுது நீ செய்யும் எல்லாவற்றிலும் செழித்து வெற்றிபெறுவாய்.
9 Have I not commanded thee, Be firm and bold, do not start nor be dismayed, —for, with thee, is Yahweh thy God, whithersoever thou goest?
நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடவில்லையா? பலங்கொண்டு தைரியமாயிரு. திகிலடையாதே; மனச்சோர்வடையாதே. ஏனெனில், நீ எங்கே சென்றாலும் உன் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னுடனே இருப்பார்.”
10 So then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying:
எனவே யோசுவா மக்களின் அதிகாரிகளுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டு,
11 Pass ye through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying: Make ready for yourselves, provisions, —for, in three days more, are ye to pass over this Jordan, to go in and possess the land which Yahweh your God is giving you, to possess.
“நீங்கள் முகாமின் நடுவே சென்று மக்களுக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டியது என்னவெனில், ‘உங்களுக்குத் தேவையான உணவுப் பொருட்களை ஆயத்தம் செய்யுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் இன்றிலிருந்து மூன்றுநாட்களுக்குள்ளே உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களுக்குச் சொந்தமாகக் கொடுக்கப்போகிற நாட்டிற்குப்போய், அதை உங்கள் உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ள யோர்தான் நதியைக் கடப்பீர்கள்’” என்றான்.
12 And, unto the Reubenites, and unto the Gadites, and unto the half tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying:
மேலும் யோசுவா ரூபனியருக்கும், காத்தியருக்கும், மனாசேயின் பாதிக் கோத்திரத்திற்கும் கூறியதாவது:
13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, —Yahweh your God, is granting you rest, and doth give you this land.
“யெகோவாவின் ஊழியக்காரனாகிய மோசே உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த கட்டளைகளை நினைவுகூருங்கள். ‘யெகோவாவாகிய உங்கள் இறைவன் இந்த நாட்டை உங்களுக்கு வழங்கி, உங்களுக்கு இளைப்பாறுதல் கொடுத்தாரே.’
14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses hath given you over the Jordan, —but, ye, shall pass over, armed, before your brethren, —all ye mighty men of valour, and shall help them;
மோசே உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த யோர்தானின் கிழக்கேயுள்ள நிலப்பகுதியில் உங்கள் மனைவிகளும், பிள்ளைகளும், ஆடுமாடுகளும் தங்கியிருக்கலாம். ஆனால் உங்களிலுள்ள யுத்தம் செய்யும் மனிதர் முழு ஆயுதங்களையும் தரித்தவர்களாய் உங்கள் சகோதரர்களுக்கு முன்னே யோர்தானைக் கடந்து செல்லவேண்டும். இவ்வாறு நீங்கள் உங்கள் சகோதரருக்கு உதவிசெய்ய வேண்டும்.
15 until that Yahweh shall grant rest unto your brethren, as unto you, so shall, they also, possess the land which Yahweh your God giveth them, —then shall ye return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yahweh hath given you over the Jordan, towards the rising of the sun.
யெகோவா உங்களுக்கு இளைப்பாறுதல் அளித்ததுபோல, அவர்களுக்கும் இளைப்பாறுதல் அளிக்கும்வரையும் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கவிருக்கும் நிலப்பகுதியை அவர்களும் தங்களுக்கு உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளும்வரையும் நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்ய வேண்டும். அதன்பின் நீங்கள் யெகோவாவின் ஊழியக்காரனாகிய மோசே யோர்தானுக்குக் கிழக்கே சூரியன் உதிக்கும் திசையில் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த உங்கள் சொந்த இடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய் அங்கே குடியிருக்கலாம்” என்றான்.
16 Then responded they to Joshua, saying, —All that thou hast commanded us, will we do, and, whithersoever thou shalt send us, will we go:
அதற்கு அவர்கள் யோசுவாவிடம் கூறியதாவது, “நீர் கட்டளையிட்ட எல்லாவற்றையும் நாங்கள் நிறைவேற்றுவோம். நீர் அனுப்பும் இடங்களுக்கெல்லாம் நாங்கள் செல்வோம்.
17 As in every thing we hearkened unto Moses, so, will we hearken unto thee, —only let Yahweh thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
மோசேக்கு நாங்கள் முழுவதும் கீழ்ப்படிந்ததுபோல, உமக்கும் கீழ்ப்படிவோம். உமது இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா மோசேயுடன் இருந்ததுபோலவே, உம்மோடும் இருப்பாராக.
18 Any man who shall rebel against thy bidding, and not hearken unto thy words in all that thou shalt command him, shall be put to death, —only be firm and bold.
உமது வார்த்தைக்கு எதிராகக் கலகம்செய்து, நீர் கட்டளையிட்டுச் சொல்கிற எந்த வார்த்தைக்காவது கீழ்ப்படியாதிருப்பவன் எவனும் கொல்லப்படுவான். நீர் பலங்கொண்டு தைரியமாய் மட்டும் இரும்!” என்றார்கள்.
