Jeremiah 13
1 Thus, said Yahweh unto me, —Go and buy for thyself a linen girdle, and put upon thy loins, —but in water, shalt thou not place it.
Astfel îmi spune DOMNUL: Du-te și ia-ți un brâu de in și pune-l pe coapsele tale, dar să nu îl pui în apă.
2 So I bought a girdle according to the word of Yahweh, —and put upon my loins.
Astfel, am luat un brâu conform cuvântului DOMNULUI, și l-am pus pe coapsele mele.
3 Then came the word of Yahweh unto me second time saying:
Și cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la mine a doua oară, spunând:
4 Take the girdle which thou hast bought which is upon thy loins, —and arise go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the cliff.
Ia brâul pe care l-ai luat, care este pe coapsele tale, și ridică-te, du-te la Eufrat și ascunde-l acolo în crăpătura stâncii.
5 So I went, and hid it, by the Euphrates, as Yahweh had commanded me.
Astfel, am mers și l-am ascuns lângă Eufrat, precum DOMNUL mi-a poruncit.
6 And it came to pass, at the end of many days, —that Yahweh said unto me, —Arise go to the Euphrates, and take from thence the girdle, which I commanded thee to hide there.
Și s-a întâmplat după multe zile, că DOMNUL mi-a spus: Ridică-te, du-te la Eufrat și ia de acolo brâul, despre care ți-am poruncit să îl ascunzi acolo.
7 So I went to the Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle out of the place where I had hidden it, —and lo! the girdle was spoiled, it was good for nothing,
Atunci am mers la Eufrat și am săpat și am luat brâul din locul în care l-am ascuns; și, iată, brâul era stricat, nu era bun de nimic.
8 Then came the word of Yahweh unto me saying:
Atunci cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la mine, spunând:
9 Thus, saith Yahweh, —After this manner, will I spoil the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
Astfel spune DOMNUL: În felul acesta voi strica mândria lui Iuda și mândria cea mare a Ierusalimului.
10 This wicked people who are refusing to hear my words, who are walking in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods, to serve them and to bow down to them, yea let them be like this girdle, which is good for nothing.
Acest popor rău, care refuză să asculte cuvintele mele, care umblă după închipuirea inimii lor și umblă după alți dumnezei, pentru a le servi și pentru a li se închina, va fi ca acest brâu, care nu este bun de nimic.
11 For as a girdle cleaveth unto the loins of a man, so caused I to cleave unto me—the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah Declareth Yahweh, to become mine—For a people, and For a name, and For a praise and For an adorning, —but they hearkened not.
Căci precum brâul se lipește de coapsele unui om, astfel am lipit de mine toată casa lui Israel și toată casa lui Iuda, spune DOMNUL; ca să îmi fie popor și nume și ca laudă și glorie; dar ei au refuzat să asculte.
12 Therefore shalt thou say unto them this word—Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Every jar, is to be filled with wine; and they will say unto thee, Do we not, know well, that every jar, is to be filled with wine?
De aceea tu să le vorbești acest cuvânt: Astfel spune DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel: Fiecare burduf va fi umplut cu vin; și ei îți vor spune: Nu știm noi, fără îndoială, că fiecare burduf va fi umplut cu vin?
13 Then shalt thou say unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh—Behold me! filling all the inhabitants of this land Even the kings that are sitting for David upon his throne and the priests and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—with drunkenness;
Atunci tu să le spui: Astfel spune DOMNUL: Iată, voi umple pe toți locuitorii acestei țări, chiar pe împărații care șed pe tronul lui David și pe preoți și pe profeți și pe toți locuitorii Ierusalimului, cu beție.
14 and I will dash them every man against his brother even the fathers and the sons together, Declareth Yahweh, —I will not pity, Neither will I spare, Neither will I have compassion, that I should not destroy them.
Și îi voi zdrobi pe unul de altul, chiar pe părinți și pe fii împreună, spune DOMNUL; nu mă voi îndura, nici nu voi cruța, nici nu voi avea milă, ci îi voi nimici.
15 Hear ye and give ear, be not haughty, —For Yahweh, hath spoken.
Ascultați și aplecați urechea, nu fiți mândri, pentru că DOMNUL a vorbit.
16 Give ye to Yahweh your God—glory, Before he cause darkness, and Before your feet stumble upon the twilight mountains; Lest, when ye wait for light, He turn it into the shadow of death, And change it for thick darkness.
Dați glorie DOMNULUI Dumnezeului vostru, înainte ca el să aducă întunericul și înainte ca picioarele voastre să se poticnească de munții întunecați, și, în timp ce căutați lumină, el o schimbă în umbra morții și o face întuneric gros.
17 But if ye will not hear it, In secret places, shall my soul weep Because of the pride, And mine eye, shall flow over, and run down with tears, Because captive hath been taken the flock of Yahweh.
Dar dacă nu veți asculta aceasta, sufletul meu va plânge în locuri tainice pentru mândria voastră; și ochiul meu va plânge amar și îi vor curge lacrimi, pentru că turma DOMNULUI este dusă în captivitate.
18 Say thou to the king and to the queen-mother, Abase yourselves—Sit down, —For descended have your Head-tires, your Crown of adornment.
Spune împăratului și împărătesei: Umiliți-vă, așezați-vă, pentru că principatele voastre vor cădea, coroana gloriei voastre.
19 The cities of the South, are shut And there is none to open, —Judah hath been carried away captive, She hath altogether been carried away captive in full number.
Cetățile sudului vor fi închise și nimeni nu le va deschide; Iuda va fi dus captiv cu totul, va fi dus captiv în întregime.
20 Lift up your eyes and see Them who are coming in from the North, —Where is The flock that was given thee, Thy beautiful flock?
Ridicați-vă ochii și priviți la cei care vin din nord; unde este turma care ți-a fost dată, frumoasa ta turmă?
21 What wilt thou say when he shall bring punishment upon thee, Since, thou thyself, hast accustomed them to be over thee as friends in chief? Shall not, pangs, seize thee, as of a woman in childbirth?
Ce vei spune când el te va pedepsi? Pentru că i-ai învățat să fie căpetenii și ca mai mari peste tine; nu te vor cuprinde întristări, ca pe o femeie în durerile nașterii?
22 But if thou say in thy heart, Wherefore have these things befallen me? For the greatness of thine iniquity have Thy skirts been turned aside Thy heels suffered violence!
Și dacă tu spui în inima ta: Pentru ce au venit aceste lucruri asupra mea? Pentru mărimea nelegiuirii tale au fost descoperite poalele tale și călcâiele tale au fost dezgolite.
23 Can the Ethiopian change, his skin, Or the leopard his spots? Even, ye, may be able to do right, Who are accustomed to do wrong.
Poate etiopianul să își schimbe pielea, sau leopardul petele lui? Atunci ați putea să faceți bine, și voi care sunteți obișnuiți să faceți rău.
24 Therefore have I scattered them, As broken straw passing away, by the wind of the desert.
De aceea îi voi împrăștia ca paiul care trece cu vântul pustiei.
25 This is thy lot Thy measured portion from me, Declareth Yahweh; For that thou didst forget me, And confide in falsehood:
Acesta este sorțul tău, partea măsurilor tale de la mine, spune DOMNUL, pentru că m-ai uitat și te-ai încrezut în falsitate.
26 Therefore, even I myself, have drawn away thy skirts, over thy face, And thy shame hath been seen,
De aceea îți voi descoperi eu poalele tale peste fața ta și ți se va vedea rușinea.
27 Thine adulteries and thy neighings, thine unchaste wickedness, Upon the hills in the field, I have seen thine abominations! Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, Wilt thou not become pure? After how long yet?
Am văzut adulterele tale și nechezăturile tale, desfrânările curviei tale și urâciunile tale pe dealuri și pe câmp. Vai ție, Ierusalime! Nu vei fi tu curățit? Când se va întâmpla?
