Deuteronomy 5
1 Then called Moses unto all Israel and said unto them—Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the regulations, which I am speaking in your ears to-day, —so shall ye learn them, and observe to do them.
E chamou Moysés a todo o Israel, e disse-lhes: Ouve, ó Israel, os estatutos e juizos que hoje vos fallo aos ouvidos: e aprendel-os-heis, e guardal-os-heis, para os fazer.
2 Yahweh our God, solemnised with us a covenant in Horeb:
O Senhor nosso Deus fez comnosco concerto em Horeb.
3 not with our fathers did Yahweh solemnise this covenant, —but with us, ourselves—these here to-day, all of us living.
Não com nossos paes fez o Senhor este concerto, senão comnosco, todos os que hoje aqui estamos vivos.
4 Face to face, spake Yahweh with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
Cara a cara o Senhor fallou comnosco no monte, do meio do fogo
5 (I was standing between Yahweh and you, at that time, to declare unto you the word of Yahweh, —for ye shrank with fear from the presence of the fire, and went not up in the mount) saying: —
(N'aquelle tempo eu estava em pé entre o Senhor e vós, para vos notificar a palavra do Senhor: porque temestes o fogo, e não subistes ao monte), dizendo:
6 I, am Yahweh thy God, who have brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of servants: —
Eu sou o Senhor teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egypto, da casa da servidão:
7 Thou shalt not have other gods, besides me:
Não terás outros deuses diante de mim;
8 Thou shalt not make unto thee an image, any form that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Não farás para ti imagem de esculptura, nem similhança alguma do que ha em cima no céu, nem em baixo na terra, nem nas aguas debaixo da terra:
9 thou shalt not bow thyself down to them nor be led to serve them, —for, I Yahweh thy God, am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of fathers upon sons even unto three generations and unto four, unto them that hate me;
Não te encurvarás a ellas, nem as servirás: porque Eu, o Senhor teu Deus, sou Deus zeloso, que visito a maldade dos paes sobre os filhos, até á terceira e quarta geração d'aquelles que me aborrecem,
10 but shewing lovingkindness unto a thousand generation—unto them who love me, and keep my commandments:
E faço misericordia em milhares aos que me amam, e guardam os meus mandamentos.
11 Thou shalt not utter the name of Yahweh thy God, for falsehood, —for Yahweh will not let him go unpunished who uttereth his name for falsehood:
Não tomarás o nome do Senhor teu Deus em vão: porque o Senhor não terá por innocente ao que tomar o seu nome em vão;
12 Observe the sabbath day, to hallow it, —as Yahweh thy God, hath commanded thee:
Guarda o dia de sabbado, para o sanctificar, como te ordenou o Senhor teu Deus.
13 six days, shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;
Seis dias trabalharás, e farás toda a tua obra,
14 but, the seventh day, is a sabbath unto Yahweh thy God, —thou shalt do no work—thou nor thy son nor thy daughter nor thy servant nor thy handmaid nor thine ox nor thine ass nor any of thy cattle, nor thy sojourner who is within thy gates, that thy servant and thy handmaid may rest, as well as thou.
Mas o setimo dia é o sabbado do Senhor teu Deus: não farás nenhuma obra n'elle, nem tu, nem teu filho, nem tua filha, nem o teu servo, nem a tua serva, nem o teu boi, nem o teu jumento, nem animal algum teu, nem o estrangeiro que está dentro de tuas portas: para que o teu servo e a tua serva descancem como tu:
15 So shalt thou remember that a servant, wast thou in the land of Egypt, and that Yahweh thy God brought thee forth from thence, with a firm hand, and with a stretched-out arm, —for this cause, hath Yahweh thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day:
Porque te lembrarás que foste servo na terra do Egypto, e que o Senhor teu Deus te tirou d'ali com mão forte e braço estendido: pelo que o Senhor teu Deus te ordenou que guardasses o dia de sabbado.
16 Honour thy father and thy mother, as Yahweh thy God hath commanded thee, —that thy days may be prolonged and that it may go well with thee, upon the soil which Yahweh thy God is about to give unto thee:
Honra a teu pae e a tua mãe, como o Senhor teu Deus te ordenou, para que se prolonguem os teus dias, e para que te vá bem na terra que te dá o Senhor teu Deus.
17 Thou shalt not commit murder:
Não matarás.
18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery:
E não adulterarás.
19 Neither shalt thou steal:
E não furtarás.
20 Neither shalt thou testify against thy neighbour with a witness of falsehood:
E não dirás falso testemunho contra o teu proximo;
21 Neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s wife, —neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his servant, or his handmaid, his ox or his ass, or anything that is thy neighbour’s.
E não cobiçarás a mulher do teu proximo: e não desejarás a casa do teu proximo, nem o seu campo, nem o seu servo, nem a sua serva, nem o seu boi, nem o seu jumento, nem coisa alguma do teu proximo.
22 These words, spake Yahweh unto all the convocation of you in the mount out of the midst of the fire the cloud and the thick gloom, a loud voice, and added not, —and he wrote them upon two tables of stone, and gave them unto me.
Estas palavras fallou o Senhor a toda a vossa congregação no monte do meio do fogo, da nuvem e da escuridade, com grande voz, e nada accrescentou: e as escreveu em duas taboas de pedra, e a mim m'as deu.
23 And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, the mountain also burning with fire, then drew ye near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes and your elders,
E succedeu que, ouvindo a voz do meio das trevas, e vendo o monte ardendo em fogo, vos achegastes a mim, todos os Cabeças das vossas tribus, e vossos anciãos;
24 and ye said—Lo! Yahweh our God hath let us see his glory and his greatness, his voice also, have we heard out of the midst of the fire, —this day, have we seen, that God may speak with man who yet may live.
E dissestes: Eis aqui o Senhor vosso Deus nos fez ver a sua gloria e a sua grandeza, e ouvimos a sua voz do meio do fogo: hoje vimos que Deus falla com o homem, e que o homem fica vivo.
25 Now, therefore why should we die? for this great fire, will consume, us, —if we ourselves, hear the voice of Yahweh our God any more, we shall die.
Agora pois, porque morreriamos? pois este grande fogo nos consumiria: se ainda mais ouvissemos a voz do Senhor nosso Deus, morreriamos.
26 For who [is there] of all flesh, that ever heard the voice of a Living God speaking out of the midst of fire as we, and yet lived?
Porque, quem ha de toda a carne, que ouviu a voz do Deus vivente fallando do meio do fogo, como nós, e ficou vivo?
27 Go, thou, near, and hear, all that Yahweh our God shall say, —so shalt thou speak unto us, all that Yahweh our God shall speak unto thee and we will hear and do.
Chega-te tu, e ouve tudo o que disser o Senhor nosso Deus: e tu nos dirás tudo o que te disser o Senhor nosso Deus, e o ouviremos, e o faremos.
28 And Yahweh heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me, —and Yahweh said unto me—I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken unto thee, they have well said all which they have spoken.
Ouvindo pois o Senhor a voz das vossas palavras, quando me fallaveis a mim, o Senhor me disse: Eu ouvi a voz das palavras d'este povo, que te disseram: em tudo fallaram elles bem.
29 Oh that this their heart might remain in them to revere me, and to keep all my commandments all the days, —that it might be well with them and with their sons unto times age-abiding.
Quem dera que elles tivessem tal coração que me temessem, e guardassem todos os meus mandamentos todos os dias! para que bem lhes fosse a elles e a seus filhos para sempre.
30 Go, say unto them, —Return ye to your tents.
Vae, dize-lhes: Tornae-vos ás vossas tendas.
31 Thou, therefore here stand with me and let me speak unto thee—all the commandment and the statutes and the regulations which thou shalt teach them, —that they may do [them] in the land which I am giving unto them to possess it.
Porém tu está aqui commigo, para que eu a ti te diga todos os mandamentos, e estatutos, e juizos, que tu lhes has de ensinar que façam na terra que eu lhes darei para possuil-a.
32 So then ye must observe to do, as Yahweh your God hath commanded you, —ye must not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
Olhae pois que façaes como vos mandou o Senhor vosso Deus: não declinareis, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda.
33 In all the way which Yahweh your God hath commanded you, must ye walk, —that ye may live and it be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land, which ye shall possess.
Andareis em todo o caminho que vos manda o Senhor vosso Deus, para que vivaes e bem vos succeda, e prolongueis os dias na terra que haveis de possuir.
