2 Kings 14
1 In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel, began Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah to reign.
১ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোয়াহসের ছেলে যিহোয়াশের রাজত্বের দ্বিতীয় বছরে যিহূদার রাজা যোয়াশের ছেলে অমৎসিয় রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করলেন।
2 Twenty-five years old, was he when he began to reign, and twenty-nine years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, his mother’s name, was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
২তাঁর বয়স যখন পঁচিশ বছর ছিল যখন তিনি রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেন। তিনি যিরূশালেমে ঊনত্রিশ বছর রাজত্ব করেছিলেন। তাঁর মায়ের নাম ছিল যিহোয়দ্দিন; তিনি যিরূশালেমের বাসিন্দা ছিলেন।
3 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, only, not like David his father: according to all that Joash his father did, so he did;
৩তিনি সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা ঠিক অমৎসিয় তাই করতেন, তবে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দায়ূদের মত করতেন না। তিনি তাঁর বাবা যোয়াশ যেমন করতেন তিনি সেই মতই সমস্ত কাজ করতেন।
4 only, the high places, took they not away, —still were the people sacrificing and burning incense in the high places.
৪কিন্তু উঁচু স্থানগুলো তিনি ধ্বংস করলেন না; লোকেরা তখনও সেই উঁচুস্থানে বলি দিত এবং ধূপ জ্বালাত।
5 And it came to pass that, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, he smote his servants who smote the king his father;
৫পরে রাজ্য তাঁর হাতে এসে প্রতিষ্ঠা হওয়ার পর, যে দাসেরা রাজাকে, অর্থাৎ তাঁর বাবাকে মেরে ফেলেছিল, তিনি তাদেরকে হত্যা করলেন।
6 but, the sons of them that smote him, slew he not, —as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, which Yahweh commanded, saying—Fathers, shall not be put to death, for sons, nor shall, sons, be put to death, for fathers, but every man, for his own sin, shall be put to death.
৬কিন্তু মোশির ব্যবস্থার বইতে যা লেখা আছে সেইমত তিনি তাদের সন্তানদের হত্যা করলেন না। সেই ব্যবস্থার বইতে সদাপ্রভুর এই আদেশ লেখা ছিল, “সন্তানদের জন্য বাবাকে কিম্বা বাবার কারণে সন্তানদের হত্যা করা চলবে না, তবে প্রত্যেককেই তার নিজের নিজের পাপের জন্য মরতে হবে।”
7 He, smote Edom, in the valley of salt, ten thousand, and seized Sela, in the war, —and called the name thereof Joktheel, [as it is] until this day.
৭তিনি লবণ উপত্যকায় দশ হাজার ইদোমীয় লোককে হত্যা করলেন এবং যুদ্ধ করে সেলা দখল করে তার নাম যক্তেল রাখলেন; আজও সেই নাম আছে।
8 Then, sent Amaziah messengers unto Jehoash son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, —Come now, let us look one another in the face.
৮তখন অমৎসিয় দূত পাঠিয়ে যেহূর নাতি, অর্থাৎ যিহোয়াহসের ছেলে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোয়াশকে বলে পাঠালেন, “আসুন, যুদ্ধ ক্ষেত্রে আমরা পরস্পরের মুখোমুখি হই।”
9 And Jehoash king of Israel sent unto Amaziah king of Judah, saying, A thistle that was in Lebanon, sent unto a cedar that was in Lebanon, saying—Give thy daughter to my son to wife, —and there passed by a beast of the field that was in Lebanon, and trampled down the thistle:
৯কিন্তু যিহোয়াশ ইস্রায়েলের রাজা দূতের মাধ্যমে উত্তরে দিয়ে যিহূদার রাজা অমৎসিয়র কাছে লোক বা দূত পাঠিয়ে বললেন, “লেবাননের এক শিয়ালকাঁটা লেবাননেরই এরস গাছের কাছে বলে পাঠাল, ‘আমার ছেলের সঙ্গে আপনার মেয়ের বিয়ে দিন।’ কিন্তু লেবাননের একটা বন্য পশু এসে সেই শিয়ালকাঁটাকে পায়ে মাড়িয়ে দিল।
10 Thou hast, smitten, Edom, and, thy heart, would lift thee up, —Glory, and stay at home! Wherefore, then, shouldest thou contend with misfortune, and fall, thou, and Judah with thee?
১০তুমি ইদোমকে আক্রমণ করেছ এবং তোমার হৃদয় সত্যিই গর্বিত হয়েছে। নিজের জয়ের জন্য গর্ব কর, কিন্তু নিজের গৃহে থাকো। কারণ তুমি কেন নিজের বিপদের কারণ হবে? আর তার সঙ্গে ডেকে আনবে নিজের ও যিহূদার ধ্বংস?”
11 But Amaziah hearkened not. So then Jehoash king of Israel came up, and they looked one another in the face, he and Amaziah king of Judah, —in Beth-shemesh, which belongeth unto Judah.
১১কিন্তু অমৎসিয় সেই কথা শুনলেন না। তাই ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোয়াশ আক্রমণ করলেন। তিনি ও যিহূদার রাজা অমৎসিয় যিহূদার বৈৎ-শেমশে একে অপরের মুখোমুখি হলেন।
12 Then was Judah defeated before Israel, —and they fled, every man to his own home;
১২ইস্রায়েলের কাছে যিহূদা হেরে গেল এবং প্রত্যেকে নিজের বাড়িতে পালিয়ে গেল।
13 and, upon Amaziah, king of Judah, son of Jehoash son of Ahaziah, did Jehoash king of Israel, seize, in Beth-shemesh, —and entered Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, at the gate of Ephraim, as far as the corner gate, four hundred cubits;
১৩ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোয়াশ বৈৎ-শেমশে অহসিয়ের নাতি, অর্থাৎ যোয়াশের ছেলে যিহূদার রাজা অমৎসিয়কে ধরলেন। তারপর যিহোয়াশ যিরূশালেমে গিয়ে সেখানকার দেয়ালের ইফ্রয়িমের ফটক থেকে কোণের ফটক পর্যন্ত প্রায় চারশো হাত ভেঙে দিলেন।
14 and took all the gold and the silver and all the vessels that were found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasuries of the house of the king, and hostages, —and returned to Samaria.
১৪তিনি সোনা ও রূপা এবং অন্যান্য জিনিসপত্র যা সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে পাওয়া গিয়েছিল এবং রাজবাড়ীর ধনভান্ডারে যে সব মূল্যবান জিনিস ছিল তা সবই নিয়ে গেলেন। তিনি জামিন হিসাবে কতগুলো লোককে নিয়ে শমরিয়াতে ফিরে গেলেন।
15 Now, the rest of the story of Jehoash, what he did, and his might and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
১৫যিহোয়াশের করা অবশিষ্ট অন্যান্য সমস্ত কাজের কথা, যুদ্ধে তাঁর জয়ের কথা এবং যিহূদার রাজা কেমন করে অমৎসিয়ের বিরুদ্ধে তিনি যুদ্ধ করেছিলেন সেই সব ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস নামক বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?
16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel, —and, Jeroboam his son, reigned, in his stead.
১৬পরে যিহোয়াশ তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রায় গেলেন এবং তাঁকে শমরিয়াতে ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের সঙ্গে কবর দেওয়া হল এবং তাঁর ছেলে যারবিয়াম তাঁর পদে রাজা হলেন।
17 And Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah, lived, after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel, fifteen years.
১৭ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোয়াহসের ছেলে যিহোয়াশের মৃত্যুর পর যিহূদার রাজা যোয়াশের ছেলে অমৎসিয় আরও পনেরো বছর বেঁচে ছিলেন।
18 Now, the rest of the story of Amaziah, is, it, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
১৮অমৎসিয়ের অন্যান্য সমস্ত অবশিষ্ট কাজের কথা যিহূদার রাজাদের ইতিহাস নামে বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?
19 And, when they made against him a conspiracy in Jerusalem, he fled to Lachish, —but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him, there.
১৯যিরূশালেমে অমৎসিয়ের বিরুদ্ধে তারা ষড়যন্ত্র করলো এবং তিনি লাখীশে পালিয়ে গেলেন, কিন্তু তারা তার পিছনে পিছনে লাখীশে লোক পাঠালো এবং সেখানে তাঁকে হত্যা করলো।
20 And they bare him on horses, —and he was buried in Jerusalem, with his fathers, in the city of David.
২০তাঁর দেহটা তারা ঘোড়ার পিঠে করে যিরূশালেমে ফিরিয়ে আনল এবং তাঁকে দায়ূদ-শহরে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে কবর দিল।
21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, he, being sixteen yearn old, —and made, him, king instead of his father Amaziah.
২১তারপর যিহূদার সমস্ত লোক অসরিয়কে যার বয়স ষোলো বছর ছিল তাঁকে নিয়ে তাঁর বাবা অমৎসিয়ের জায়গায় রাজা করল।
22 He, built Elath, and restored it to Judah, —after the king slept with his fathers.
২২অমৎসিয় তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রায় যাবার পর পরে অসরিয় এলৎ শহরটি পুনরায় তৈরী করলেন এবং তা যিহূদার অধীনে করলেন।
23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah, son of Joash, king of Judah, began Jeroboam, son of Joash, king of Israel, to reign in Samaria, [and he reigned] forty-one years.
২৩যিহূদার রাজা যোয়াশের ছেলে অমৎসিয়ের রাজত্বের পনেরো বছরের দিন ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোয়াশের ছেলে যারবিয়াম শমরিয়াতে রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেন এবং তিনি একচল্লিশ বছর রাজত্ব করেছিলেন।
24 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —he turned not away from any of the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he caused, Israel, to commit.
২৪সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা কিছু মন্দ তিনি তাই করতেন এবং নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়াম যে সব পাপ ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়ে করিয়েছিলেন তিনি সেই সব পাপ করতে ছাড়লেন না।
25 He, restored the boundary of Israel, from the entering in of Hamath, unto the sea of the waste plain, —according to the word of Yahweh, God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath-hepher.
২৫ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাঁর দাস গাৎ-হেফরের অমিত্তয়ের ছেলে যোনা ভাববাদীর মধ্য দিয়ে যে কথা বলেছিলেন সেই কথা অনুযায়ী যারবিয়াম হমাৎ এলাকা থেকে অরাবার সমুদ্র পর্যন্ত আগে ইস্রায়েলের রাজ্যের যে সীমা ছিল তা পুনরায় নিজের হাতে ফিরিয়ে এনেছিলেন।
26 For Yahweh saw the humiliation of Israel, that it was bitter, indeed, —and that there was no one shut up, nor any one left at large, no one indeed to help Israel.
২৬কারণ, সদাপ্রভু দেখেছিলেন যে ইস্রায়েলের স্বাধীন মানুষ কিম্বা দাস সবাই ভীষণভাবে কষ্ট পাচ্ছে; কেউ তাদের সাহায্য করবার মত ছিল না।
27 Neither had Yahweh spoken, to wipe out the name of Israel from under the heavens, —so he saved them, by the hand of Jeroboam son of Joash.
২৭ফলে সদাপ্রভু বললেন যে তিনি আকাশের নীচ থেকে ইস্রায়েলের নাম মুছে ফেলবেন না। সেইজন্য তিনি যিহোয়াশের ছেলে যারবিয়ামের মধ্য দিয়ে তাদের উদ্ধার করলেন।
28 Now, the rest of the story of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might when he warred, and how he restored Damascus and Hamath to Judah in Israel, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
২৮যারবিয়ামের অন্যান্য সমস্ত অবশিষ্টের কাজের কথা, যুদ্ধে তাঁর জয়ের কথা এবং এক দিন যিহূদার অধিকারে থাকা দম্মেশক ও হমাৎ কিভাবে তিনি ইস্রায়েলের জন্য আবার অধিকার করে নিয়েছিলেন সেই কথা ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস নামে বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?
29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, with the kings of Israel, —and, Zechariah his son, reigned, in his stead.
২৯পরে যারবিয়াম তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রায় গেলে, ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের কাছে চলে গেলেন এবং তাঁর ছেলে সখরিয় তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হলেন।
