Ruth 2
1 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
Naomi avait un parent de son mari, un homme puissant et riche, de la famille d'Elimelech, et son nom était Boaz.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean among the ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
Ruth, la Moabite, dit à Naomi: « Laisse-moi maintenant aller aux champs et glaner parmi les épis, après celui qui m'a fait plaisir. » Elle lui dit: « Va, ma fille. »
3 And she went, and came and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on the portion of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.
Elle partit, et vint glaner dans le champ après les moissonneurs; et elle arriva à la portion de champ appartenant à Boaz, qui était de la famille d'Elimelech.
4 And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.
Voici que Boaz arrive de Bethléem et dit aux moissonneurs: « Que Yahvé soit avec vous. » Ils lui répondirent: « Que Yahvé te bénisse. »
5 Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this? r
Alors Boaz dit à son serviteur qui était préposé aux moissonneurs: « A qui est cette jeune fille? »
6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
Le serviteur qui était préposé aux moissonneurs répondit: « C'est la femme moabite qui est revenue avec Naomi du pays de Moab.
7 And she said, Let me glean, I pray you, and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, save that she tarried a little in the house.
Elle a dit: « Laisse-moi, je te prie, glaner et ramasser les gerbes après les moissonneurs ». Elle est donc venue, et elle a continué même depuis le matin jusqu'à maintenant, sauf qu'elle s'est reposée un peu dans la maison. »
8 Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither pass from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens.
Boaz dit alors à Ruth: « Écoute, ma fille. Ne va pas glaner dans un autre champ, et ne pars pas d'ici, mais reste ici près de mes servantes.
9 Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.
Que tes yeux soient fixés sur le champ qu'elles moissonnent, et va après elles. N'ai-je pas ordonné aux jeunes gens de ne pas vous toucher? Si vous avez soif, allez vers les vases, et buvez de ce que les jeunes gens ont tiré. »
10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thy sight, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?
Alors elle tomba sur sa face et se prosterna à terre, et lui dit: « Pourquoi ai-je trouvé grâce à tes yeux, pour que tu me connaisses, puisque je suis une étrangère? »
11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
Boaz lui répondit: « On m'a raconté tout ce que tu as fait pour ta belle-mère depuis la mort de ton mari, et comment tu as quitté ton père, ta mère et le pays où tu es née, pour venir chez un peuple que tu ne connaissais pas auparavant.
12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to take refuge.
Que Yahvé te rende la pareille et que tu reçoives une pleine récompense de Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, sous les ailes duquel tu es venue te réfugier. »
13 Then she said, Let me find grace in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken kindly unto thine handmaid, though I be not as one of thine handmaidens.
Alors elle dit: « Que je trouve grâce à tes yeux, mon seigneur, parce que tu m'as consolée et que tu as parlé avec bonté à ta servante, bien que je ne sois pas comme l'un de tes serviteurs. »
14 And at meal-time Boaz said unto her, Come hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and they reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left thereof.
A l'heure du repas, Boaz lui dit: « Viens ici, mange du pain, et trempe ton morceau dans le vinaigre. » Elle s'assit à côté des moissonneurs, et ils lui passèrent du grain desséché. Elle mangea, fut satisfaite, et en laissa une partie.
15 And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not.
Lorsqu'elle se leva pour glaner, Boaz donna cet ordre à ses jeunes gens: « Laissez-la glaner parmi les gerbes, et ne lui faites pas de reproches.
16 And also pull out some for her from the bundles, and leave it, and let her glean, and rebuke her not.
Tirez aussi pour elle des gerbes, et laissez-les. Laissez-la glaner, et ne lui faites pas de reproches. »
17 So she gleaned in the field until even; and she beat out that she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley.
Elle glana dans le champ jusqu'au soir, et elle battit ce qu'elle avait glané: c'était environ un épha d'orge.
18 And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth and gave to her that she had left after she was sufficed.
Elle le prit, et alla à la ville. Sa belle-mère vit ce qu'elle avait glané; elle sortit et lui donna ce qu'elle avait laissé, après s'être rassasiée.
19 And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned today? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man’s name with whom I wrought today is Boaz.
Sa belle-mère lui dit: « Où as-tu glané aujourd'hui? Où as-tu travaillé? Béni soit celui qui t'a remarquée. » Elle dit à sa belle-mère avec qui elle avait travaillé: « Le nom de l'homme avec qui j'ai travaillé aujourd'hui est Boaz. »
20 And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is nigh of kin unto us, one of our near kinsmen.
Naomi dit à sa belle-fille: « Qu'il soit béni par Yahvé, qui n'a pas abandonné sa bonté envers les vivants et les morts. » Naomi lui dit: « Cet homme est un proche parent de nous, un de nos proches. »
21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, Yea, he said unto me, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.
Ruth, la Moabite, répondit: « Oui, il m'a dit: « Tu resteras près de mes jeunes gens jusqu'à ce qu'ils aient fait toute ma récolte. »
22 And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, and that they meet thee not in any other field.
Naomi dit à Ruth, sa belle-fille: « Il est bon, ma fille, que tu sortes avec ses servantes, et qu'elles ne te rencontrent pas dans un autre champ. »
23 So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and she dwelt with her mother in law.
Elle resta donc près des servantes de Boaz, pour glaner jusqu'à la fin de la moisson de l'orge et de la moisson du blé, et elle vécut avec sa belle-mère.
