Psalms 8

1 For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory upon the heavens.

সংগীত পরিচালকের উদ্দেশ্যে। স্বর, গিত্তীৎ। দাউদের গীত। হে সদাপ্রভু, আমার প্রভু, সমস্ত পৃথিবীতে তোমার নাম মহিমান্বিত! তুমি আকাশমণ্ডলের ঊর্ধ্বে তোমার মহিমা স্থাপন করেছ!

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established strength, because of thine adversaries, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

তোমার শত্রু ও বিপক্ষদের স্তব্ধ করার উদ্দেশ্যে, তুমি ছেলেমেয়েদের ও শিশুদের মাধ্যমে, তোমার শত্রুদের বিরুদ্ধে দুর্গ স্থাপন করেছ।

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

যখন আমি তোমার আকাশমণ্ডল পর্যবেক্ষণ করি, তোমার হাতের কাজ, চাঁদ ও তারার দিকে দেখি যা তুমি নিজস্ব স্থানে রেখেছ,

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

মানবজাতি কি যে, তাদের কথা তুমি চিন্তা করো? মানুষ কি যে, তার তুমি যত্ন করো?

5 For thou hast made him but little lower than God, and crownest him with glory and honour.

তুমি তাদের স্বর্গদূতদের চেয়ে সামান্য ছোটো করেছ এবং তাদের গৌরব ও সম্মানের মুকুটে ভূষিত করেছ।

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

তোমার হাতের সকল সৃষ্টির উপর তাদের কর্তৃত্ব দিয়েছ; এসব কিছু তাদের পায়ের নিচে রেখেছ:

7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

সব মেষপাল ও গোপাল, ও যত বন্যপশু;

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

আকাশের যত পাখি, সমুদ্রের যত মাছ, যা সমুদ্র প্রবাহে সাঁতার কাটে।

9 O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

হে সদাপ্রভু, আমাদের প্রভু, সমস্ত পৃথিবীতে তোমার নাম মহিমান্বিত!
