Psalms 55
1 For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. Maschil of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
Dem Sangmeister, mit Saitenspielbegleitung. Eine Betrachtung Davids. Vernimm, Elohim, mein Gebet, / Entzieh dich nicht meinem Flehn!
2 Attend unto me, and answer me: I am restless in my complaint, and moan;
Horch auf mich und erhöre mich, / Ich sinne ruhlos und seufze.
3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they cast iniquity upon me, and in anger they persecute me.
Denn ich muß hören des Feindes Stimme und empfinde des Frevlers Druck. / Sie wälzen Unheil auf mich und stellen mir grimmig nach.
4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
Mein Herz bebt mir in der Brust, / Und Schrecken des Todes fallen auf mich.
5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
Furcht und Zittern dringt auf mich ein, / Entsetzen hat mich bedeckt.
6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! then would I fly away, and be at rest.
Drum sag ich: "O, hätt ich doch Schwingen wie Tauben! / Weg wollt ich fliegen, einen Ruhplatz suchen.
7 Lo, then would I wander far off, I would lodge in the wilderness. (Selah)
Ja, weithin möcht ich flüchten / Und in der Wüste rasten. (Sela)
8 I would haste me to a shelter from the stormy wind and tempest.
Eine Freistatt würd ich mir suchen / Vor dem Toben des Sturms, vor dem Wetter.
9 Destroy, O Lord, [and] divide their tongue: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
Verwirr ihre Zungen, Adonái, zerteile sie! / Denn ich schaue Gewalttat und Streit in der Stadt.
10 Day and night they go about upon the walls thereof: iniquity also and mischief are in the midst of it.
Tag und Nacht gehn sie auf den Mauern umher, / Unheil und Elend ist drinnen.
11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: oppression and guile depart not from her streets.
Ja, Verderben ist drinnen; / Von ihrem Markte weicht nicht Bedrückung und Trug.
12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
Denn nicht ein Feind schmäht mich: / Das würd ich ertragen; / Auch nicht mein Hasser tut groß wider mich: / Dann würd ich mich vor ihm verbergen.
13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my companion, and my familiar friend.
Nein, du bist's, den ich mir gleichgeschätzt, / Mein Freund und mein Vertrauter.
14 We took sweet counsel together, we walked in the house of God with the throng.
Wie pflegten wir traute Gemeinschaft, / Gingen einträchtig ins Haus Elohims!
15 Let death come suddenly upon them, let them go down alive into the pit: for wickedness is in their dwelling, in the midst of them. (Sheol h7585)
Der Tod überrasche sie, / Mögen sie lebend zur Unterwelt fahren! / Denn in ihrer Wohnstatt, in ihrem Herzen ist Bosheit. (Sheol h7585)
16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
Ich aber rufe zu Elohim, / Und Jahwe wird mich erretten.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noonday, will I complain, and moan: and he shall hear my voice.
Des Abends, Morgens und Mittags klag ich und seufze: / So hört er mein Flehn.
18 He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for they were many [that strove] with me.
Er wird mich erretten, in Frieden mich leiten, daß keiner mir beikommt; / Denn ihrer sind viele wider mich.
19 God shall hear, and answer them, even he that abideth of old, (Selah) [the men] who have no changes, and who fear not God.
Gott wird hören und Antwort geben — / Er, der da thronet seit Urbeginn. (Sela) Denn sie besinnen sich nicht eines Bessern, / Elohim fürchten sie nicht.
20 He hath put forth his hands against such as were at peace with him: he hath profaned his covenant.
Er legt seine Hand an seine Freunde, / Entweiht seinen Bund.
21 His mouth was smooth as butter, but his heart was war: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
Glatt wie Butter sind seine Worte, / Aber in seinem Herzen ist Krieg. / Seine Reden sind linder als Öl, / Und doch sind's gezückte Schwerter.
22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Wirf deine Bürde auf Jahwe! / Er wird dich versorgen; / Nimmer läßt er den Gerechten wanken.
23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
Doch du, Elohim, wirst sie in die unterste Grube stürzen. / Die da mit Mord und Trug umgehn, / Sollen nicht ihres Lebens Hälfte erreichen. / Ich aber traue auf dich!
