1 Chronicles 29
1 And David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God:
Le roi David dit à toute l'assemblée: « Salomon, mon fils, que Dieu seul a choisi, est encore jeune et tendre, et l'ouvrage est grand; car le palais n'est pas pour un homme, mais pour Yahvé Dieu.
2 Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the [things of] gold, and the silver for the [things of] silver, and the brass for the [things of] brass, the iron for the [things of] iron, and wood for the [things of] wood; onyx stones, and [stones] to be set, stones for inlaid work, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
J'ai préparé de toutes mes forces, pour la maison de mon Dieu, de l'or pour ce qui est d'or, de l'argent pour ce qui est d'argent, du bronze pour ce qui est de bronze, du fer pour ce qui est de fer, du bois pour ce qui est de bois, des pierres d'onyx, des pierres à enchâsser, des pierres à incruster de diverses couleurs, toutes sortes de pierres précieuses et des pierres de marbre en abondance.
3 Moreover also, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, seeing that I have a treasure of mine own of gold and silver, I give it unto the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house;
De plus, comme j'ai jeté mon dévolu sur la maison de mon Dieu, comme j'ai un trésor personnel d'or et d'argent, je le donne à la maison de mon Dieu, en sus de tout ce que j'ai préparé pour la maison sainte:
4 even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal:
trois mille talents d'or, de l'or d'Ophir, et sept mille talents d'argent fin, pour revêtir les murs des maisons,
5 of gold for the [things of] gold, and of silver for the [things of] silver, and for all manner of work [to be made] by the hands of artificers. Who then offereth willingly to consecrate himself this day unto the LORD?
d'or pour les objets d'or, d'argent pour les objets d'argent, et pour toutes sortes d'ouvrages à faire par les mains des artisans. Qui donc se propose aujourd'hui de se consacrer volontairement à Yahvé? »
6 Then the princes of the fathers’ [houses], and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king’s work, offered willingly;
Alors les chefs des maisons paternelles, les chefs des tribus d'Israël, les chefs de milliers et de centaines, et les responsables des travaux du roi firent des offrandes volontaires.
7 and they gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and of iron a hundred thousand talents.
Ils donnèrent pour le service de la maison de Dieu cinq mille talents d'or et dix mille dariques, dix mille talents d'argent, dix-huit mille talents d'airain et cent mille talents de fer.
8 And they with whom [precious] stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the LORD, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Les gens chez qui on trouvait des pierres précieuses les donnèrent au trésor de la maison de l'Éternel, sous la direction de Jehiel, le Gershonite.
9 Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
Le peuple se réjouit, parce qu'il avait fait des offrandes volontaires, parce qu'il avait fait des offrandes volontaires à l'Éternel avec un cœur parfait, et le roi David se réjouit aussi avec une grande joie.
10 Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, O LORD, the God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
David bénit Yahvé devant toute l'assemblée, et il dit: « Tu es béni, Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, notre père, pour les siècles des siècles.
11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth [is thine]; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
A toi, Yahvé, la grandeur, la puissance, la gloire, la victoire et la majesté! Car tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre t'appartient. C'est à toi qu'appartient le royaume, Yahvé, et tu es élevé comme chef au-dessus de tout.
12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou rulest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
C'est de toi que viennent la richesse et la gloire, et c'est toi qui domines tout. Dans ta main sont la puissance et la force! C'est dans ta main que se trouve la grandeur et la force de tous!
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
Maintenant, notre Dieu, nous te remercions et nous louons ton nom glorieux.
14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
Mais qui suis-je, et qui est mon peuple, pour que nous puissions faire une telle offrande? Car tout vient de toi, et nous t'avons donné de ton propre fonds.
15 For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as all our fathers were: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no abiding.
Car nous sommes étrangers devant vous et étrangers, comme l'ont été tous nos pères. Nos jours sur la terre sont comme une ombre, et il n'y a pas de reste.
16 O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
Yahvé notre Dieu, tout ce que nous avons préparé pour te bâtir une maison pour ton saint nom vient de ta main et t'appartient en propre.
17 I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness, As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
Je sais aussi, mon Dieu, que tu éprouves le cœur et que tu prends plaisir à la droiture. Moi, dans la droiture de mon cœur, j'ai offert volontairement toutes ces choses. Maintenant, j'ai vu avec joie ton peuple, qui est ici présent, t'offrir volontairement.
18 O LORD, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people; and prepare their heart unto thee:
Yahvé, Dieu d'Abraham, d'Isaac et d'Israël, nos pères, garde ce désir à jamais dans les pensées du cœur de ton peuple, et prépare son cœur pour toi;
19 and give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.
et donne à Salomon, mon fils, un cœur parfait, pour qu'il observe tes commandements, tes témoignages et tes statuts, qu'il fasse toutes ces choses et qu'il bâtisse le palais pour lequel j'ai pris des dispositions. »
20 And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD, and the king.
Et David dit à toute l'assemblée: « Maintenant, bénissez Yahvé votre Dieu! » Toute l'assemblée bénit l'Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, et ils inclinèrent la tête et se prosternèrent devant l'Éternel et le roi.
21 And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel;
Ils offrirent des sacrifices et des holocaustes à Yahvé le lendemain de ce jour, mille taureaux, mille béliers et mille agneaux, avec leurs libations et leurs sacrifices en abondance pour tout Israël,
22 and did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the LORD to be prince, and Zadok to be priest.
et ils mangèrent et burent devant Yahvé ce jour-là avec une grande joie. Ils établirent roi pour la seconde fois Salomon, fils de David, et ils l'oignirent devant Yahvé comme prince, et Zadok comme sacrificateur.
23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
Salomon s'assit sur le trône de Yahvé comme roi à la place de David, son père, et il prospéra, et tout Israël lui obéit.
24 And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.
Tous les princes, les puissants, et aussi tous les fils du roi David se soumirent au roi Salomon.
25 And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.
Yahvé magnifia Salomon aux yeux de tout Israël et lui donna une majesté royale telle qu'il n'y en avait eu aucune avant lui en Israël.
26 Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
David, fils d'Isaï, régna sur tout Israël.
27 And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three [years] reigned he in Jerusalem.
Le temps qu'il régna sur Israël fut de quarante ans; il régna sept ans à Hébron, et il régna trente-trois ans à Jérusalem.
28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.
Il mourut dans une belle vieillesse, rassasié de jours, de richesses et de gloire; et Salomon, son fils, régna à sa place.
29 Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Samuel the seer, and in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer;
Les actes du roi David, les premiers et les derniers, sont écrits dans l'histoire de Samuel le voyant, dans l'histoire de Nathan le prophète, et dans l'histoire de Gad le voyant,
30 with all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
avec tout son règne et sa puissance, et les événements qui l'ont impliqué, lui, Israël, et tous les royaumes des pays.
