< 1 Timothy 1 >
1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the appointment of God, our Savior, and Christ Jesus, our hope.
Aicae pahlongkung Sithaw hoi aicae oephaih Angraeng Jesu Kri ih lok taphonghaih rang hoiah Jesu Kri mah patoeh ih kami maeto ah kaom Pawl mah,
2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith: May God, the Father, and Christ Jesus, our Lord, bless you, and be merciful to you, and give you peace.
tanghaih bangah ka capa tangtang, Timote khaeah, aicae ampa Sithaw hoi aicae Angraeng Jesu Kri khae hoi ih tahmenhaih, palungnathaih hoi monghaih om nasoe, tiah ca tarik.
3 I beg you, as I did when I was on my way into Macedonia, to remain at Ephesus; so that you may instruct certain people there not to teach new and strange doctrines,
Macedonia prae ah ka caeh naah, Efisa vangpui ah na oh poe han kang pacae baktih toengah, thoemto kaminawk mah patukhaih kalah patuk o han ai ah thui paeh,
4 nor to devote their attention to legends and interminable genealogies, which tend to give rise to argument rather than to further that divine plan which is revealed in the faith.
Sithaw tanghaih bangah hmacawnhaih om ai lok angaekhaih tacawtsak, ruici rumram hoi parui laek thai ai acaeng anghumhaih kawng paruihaihnawk to sak o han ai ah acoehaih na paek han oh.
5 The object of all instruction is to call forth that love which comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.
Poekciimhaih hoiah kangzo amlunghaih, kasae kahoih panoekhaih kahoih hoi loktang tanghaih loe kaalok atimhaih takung pui ah oh:
6 And it is because they have not aimed at these things that the attention of certain people has been diverted to unprofitable subjects.
thoemto kaminawk mah katoeng ai loklam to pazui o pongah, avang ai lokthuihaih bangah angqoi o ving;
7 They want to be teachers of the Law, and yet do not understand either the words they use, or the subjects on which they speak so confidently.
nihcae loe a thuih o ih lokhlong to panoek o ai, kawbaktih tanghaih bangah maw kacakah angdoet o, tiah panoekhaih tawn o ai to mah kaalok patukkung ah oh han a koeh o.
8 We know, of course, that the Law is excellent, when used legitimately,
Kami mah kamsoem ah patoh nahaeloe, kaalok loe hoih, tito a panoek o;
9 by one who recognizes that laws were not made for good people, but for the lawless and disorderly, for irreligious and wicked people, for those who are irreverent and profane, for those who ill-treat their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
kaalok loe katoeng kaminawk hanah sah ai, kaalok katawn ai, kaalok pazui ai kami, Sithaw tang ai kami, kazae kami, ciimcai ai kami, amhnong kami, ampa hum kami, amno hum kami hoi kami hum kaminawk han ih ni sak, tito panoek o nasoe,
10 for the immoral, for perverts, for slave traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is opposed to sound Christian teaching –
nongpa nongpata zaehaih sah kaminawk, nongpa hoi nongpa zae kaminawk, kamqunawk, lokamlai kaminawk, amsawnlok thui kaminawk, kaciim patukhaih loklam hoi amkhraeng kalah hmuennawk boih;
11 as is taught in the glorious good news of the ever-blessed God, with which I was entrusted.
tahamhoih Sithaw ih kalen sawk tamthanglok baktih toengah to kahoih tamthanglok loe kai khaeah paek boeh.
12 I am thankful to Christ Jesus, our Lord, who has been my strength, for showing that he thought me worthy of trust by appointing me to his ministry,
Kai hae oepthok kami ni, tiah a poek pongah, Anih mah toksahkung ah ang suek moe, kai khaeah sakthaihaih to ang paek, to pongah aicae Angraeng Kri Jesu khaeah kawnhaih lok ka thuih;
13 though I once used to blaspheme, and to persecute, and to insult. Yet mercy was shown me, because I acted in ignorance, while still an unbeliever;
kai loe canghniah Sithaw kasaethui kami hoi kricaa pacaekthlaek kami, minawk nganbawh kana paek kami ah ka oh: toe ka panoek ai moe, tanghaih tawn ai hoiah ka sak pongah, Sithaw palungnathaih to ka hnuk.
14 and the loving kindness of our Lord was boundless, and filled me with that faith and love which come from union with Christ Jesus.
Aicae Angraeng tahmenhaih loe kawkruk maw len! Kri Jesu ah kaom tanghaih hoi amlunghaih to ka nuiah oh.
15 How true the saying is, and worthy of the fullest acceptance, that ‘Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners’! And there is no greater sinner than I!
Kri Jesu loe kami zaenawk pahlong hanah hae long nuiah angzoh, tiah thuih ih lok loe oep kaom lok ah oh moe, tapom han krak; kai loe kami zaenawk thungah kalen koekah ka oh.
16 Yet mercy was shown me for the express purpose that Christ Jesus might exhibit in my case, beyond all others, his exhaustless patience, as an example for those who were afterward to believe on him and attain eternal life. (aiōnios )
Toe dungzan hinghaih to hnuk moe, anih tang han kaom kaminawk mah khet koi kaom maeto ah oh thai hanah, Jesu Kri mah patangkhanghaih boih kai khaeah amtuengsak hmaloe pongah ni, anih palungnathaih to ka hnuk. (aiōnios )
17 To the eternal King, ever-living, invisible, the one God, be ascribed honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )
Pakoehhaih hoi lensawkhaih loe dungzan Siangpahrang, kamro thai ai, hnu thai ai ah kaom, palunghahaih Sithaw khae khue ah, dungzan hoi dungzan khoek to om nasoe. Amen. (aiōn )
18 This, then, is the charge that I lay on you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with what was predicted of you – Fight the good fight in the spirit of those predictions,
Ka capa Timote, canghni ah nang ih akawng thuihcoek ih lok baktih toengah, to tiah thuihcoek ih lok hoiah kahoih misa na tuk hanah lok kang thuih;
19 with faith, and with a clear conscience; and it is because they have thrust this aside, that, as regards the faith, some have wrecked their lives.
tanghaih hoi kasae kahoih mathaih to kacakah patawn ah; thoemto kaminawk mah to tanghaih to vah o ving pongah, kamro palong baktiah amro o boeh:
20 Hymenaeus and Alexander are instances – the men whom I delivered over to Satan so that they might be taught not to blaspheme.
to kaminawk thungah Himinia hoi Alexandar athum hoi; Sithaw kasaethuih loe hoih ai, tito nihnik mah panoek hoi thai hanah, nihnik to Setan ban ah ka paek boeh.
