Isaiah 1
1 The vision of Isaiah [Salvation of Yah] the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah [Praised] and Jerusalem [City of peace], in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah [Praised].
Jesajan, Aamoksen pojan, näky, jonka hän näki Juudasta ja Jerusalemista Ussian, Jootamin, Aahaan ja Hiskian, Juudan kuningasten, päivinä.
2 Sh'ma ·Hear obey·, heavens, and listen, earth; for Adonai has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled to break away from authority thus breaking relationship against me.
Kuulkaa, taivaat, ota korviisi, maa, sillä Herra puhuu: Minä kasvatin lapsia, sain heidät suuriksi, mutta he luopuivat minusta.
3 The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib; but Israel [God prevails] does not know, my people don’t consider.”
Härkä tuntee omistajansa ja aasi isäntänsä seimen; mutta Israel ei tunne, minun kansani ei ymmärrä.
4 Ah sinnful ·deviant (from the standard goal)· nation, a people loaded with depravity (moral evil), offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken Adonai. They have despised haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails]. They are estranged and backward.

5 Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

6 From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it: wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, neither bandaged, neither soothed with oil.

7 Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
Teidän maanne on autiona, teidän kaupunkinne ovat tulella poltetut; teidän peltojanne syövät muukalaiset silmäinne edessä; ne ovat autioina niinkuin ainakin muukalaisten hävittämät.
8 The daughter of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.
Jäljellä on tytär Siion yksinänsä niinkuin maja viinitarhassa, niinkuin lehvämaja kurkkumaassa, niinkuin saarrettu kaupunki.
9 Unless Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies] had left to us a very small remnant, we would have been as Sodom [Burning]; we would have been like Gomorrah [Rebellious people, Tyrants].
Ellei Herra Sebaot olisi jättänyt meistä jäännöstä, olisi meidän käynyt pian kuin Sodoman, olisimme tulleet Gomorran kaltaisiksi.
10 Sh'ma ·Hear obey· Adonai’s word, you rulers of Sodom [Burning]! Listen to the Torah ·Teaching· of our God, you people of Gomorrah [Rebellious people, Tyrants]!
Kuulkaa Herran sana, te Sodoman päämiehet, ota korviisi meidän Jumalamme opetus, sinä Gomorran kansa.
11 “What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?,” says Adonai. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.
Mitä ovat minulle teidän paljot teurasuhrinne? sanoo Herra. Minä olen kyllästynyt oinas-polttouhreihin ja juottovasikkain rasvaan. Mullikkain, karitsain ja kauristen vereen minä en mielisty.
12 When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?

13 Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; new moons, Shab'totay ·Intermissions·, and convocations: I can’t bear with vain striving of iniquity in assemblies.
Älkää enää tuoko minulle turhaa ruokauhria; suitsutus on minulle kauhistus. En kärsi uuttakuuta enkä sapattia, en kokouksen kuuluttamista, en vääryyttä ynnä juhlakokousta.
14 My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.
Minun sieluni vihaa teidän uusiakuitanne ja juhla-aikojanne; ne ovat käyneet minulle kuormaksi, jota kantamaan olen väsynyt.
15 When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not sh'ma ·hear obey·. Your hands are full of blood.
Kun te ojennatte käsiänne, minä peitän silmäni teiltä; vaikka kuinka paljon rukoilisitte, minä en kuule: teidän kätenne ovat verta täynnä.
16 Wash yourselves, make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.
Peseytykää, puhdistautukaa; pankaa pois pahat tekonne minun silmäini edestä, lakatkaa pahaa tekemästä.
17 Learn to do well. Seek mishpat ·justice·. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the orphan. Plead for the widow.”
Oppikaa tekemään hyvää; harrastakaa oikeutta, ojentakaa väkivaltaista, hankkikaa orvolle oikeus, ajakaa lesken asiaa.
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” says Adonai: “Though your crimes deserving peanlty, sins ·missing the goal· be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Niin tulkaa, käykäämme oikeutta keskenämme, sanoo Herra. Vaikka teidän syntinne ovat veriruskeat, tulevat ne lumivalkeiksi; vaikka ne ovat purppuranpunaiset, tulevat ne villanvalkoisiksi.
19 If you are willing and sh'ma ·hearing obedient·, you shall eat the good of the land;
Jos suostutte ja olette kuuliaiset, niin te saatte syödä maan hyvyyttä;
20 but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of Adonai has spoken it.”
mutta jos vastustatte ja niskoittelette, niin miekka syö teidät. Sillä Herran suu on puhunut.
21 How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of mishpat ·justice·; righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.
Voi, kuinka onkaan portoksi tullut uskollinen kaupunki! Se oli täynnä oikeutta, siellä asui vanhurskaus, mutta nyt murhamiehet.
22 Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water.

23 Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves. Everyone 'ahav ·affectionately loves· bribes, and follows after rewards. They don’t judge the orphan, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.
Sinun päämiehesi ovat niskureita ja varkaiden tovereita; kaikki he lahjuksia rakastavat ja palkkoja tavoittelevat; eivät he hanki orvolle oikeutta, lesken asia ei pääse heidän eteensä.
24 Therefore 'Adonay Adonai Tzva'ot [Lord, Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies], the Mighty One of Israel [God prevails], says: “Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself on my enemies;
Sentähden sanoo Herra, Herra Sebaot, Israelin Väkevä: Voi! Minä viihdytän vihani vastustajissani, minä kostan vihollisilleni;
25 and I will turn my hand on you, thoroughly purge away your dross, and will take away all your tin.
minä käännän käteni sinua vastaan ja puhdistan sinusta kuonan niinkuin lipeällä ja poistan sinusta kaiken lyijyn.
26 I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called ‘The city of righteousness, a faithful town.’
Ja minä palautan sinun tuomarisi muinaiselleen ja sinun neuvonantajasi sellaisiksi, kuin alkuaan olivat. Sitten sinua kutsutaan "vanhurskauden linnaksi", "uskolliseksi kaupungiksi".
27 Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] shall be redeemed with mishpat ·justice·, and her converts with righteousness.
Siion lunastetaan oikeudella ja sen kääntyneet vanhurskaudella.
28 But the destruction of the rebellious who break away from authority thus breaking relationship and people who sin ·intentionally miss the mark goal· shall be together, and those who forsake Adonai shall be consumed.
Mutta luopiot ja syntiset saavat kaikki turmion, ja ne, jotka hylkäävät Herran, hukkuvat.
29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be confounded for the gardens that you have chosen.

30 For you shall be as an oak whose leaf fades, and as a garden that has no water.

31 The strong will be like tinder, and his work like a spark. They will both burn together, and no one will quench them.”
Ja mahtaja tulee rohtimeksi ja hänen tekonsa kipinäksi, ja molemmat palavat yhdessä, eikä ole sammuttajaa.
