Nahum 1
1 The prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the prophecy of Nahum, the Elkoshite.

2 Jehovah is a jealous God, and an avenger; Jehovah is an avenger, and full of wrath! Jehovah taketh vengeance on his adversaries, And keepeth indignation for his enemies!
Él Señor es celoso y vengador; vengador es él Señor; el Señor envía castigos a quienes están en su contra, guarda rencor a sus enemigos.
3 Jehovah is slow to anger, but great in power; He will by no means clear the guilty; Jehovah cometh in the whirlwind and the storm, And the clouds are the dust of his feet.
El Señor tarda en enojarse y tiene un gran poder, y no dejará ir al pecador sin castigo; el camino del Señor está en el viento y la tormenta, y las nubes son el polvo de sus pies.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, And drieth up all the rivers. Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, And the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
Reprende al mar y lo seca, secando todos los ríos; Son destruidos Basán, y el Carmelo, y la flor del Líbano se marchita.
5 The mountains tremble before him, And the hills melt; The earth is moved at his presence, Yea, the world and all that dwell therein.
Las montañas tiemblan a causa de él, y las colinas se derriten; la tierra se está desmoronando ante él, el mundo y todos los que están en él.
6 Who can stand before his indignation, And who can abide before the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are cast down by him!
¿Quién puede guardar su lugar ante de su ira? ¿Y quién puede resistir el calor de su furor? Su ira se desata como el fuego y él rompe las rocas.
7 Jehovah is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; He careth for them that trust in him;
El Señor es bueno, una fortaleza fuerte en el día de la angustia; y conoce a aquellos que confían en él.
8 But with an overwhelming flood will he make a full end of her place, And darkness shall pursue his enemies.
Pero como el agua que se desborda, se los llevará; él pondrá fin, conduciendo a sus enemigos a la oscuridad.
9 What do ye meditate against Jehovah? He will make a full end; Not the second time shall the calamity come.
¿Qué tramas contra el Señor? él lo hará completa destrucción; sus enemigos no volverán a aparecer por segunda vez.
10 For while they are entangled like thorns, And like those that are drunk with wine, They shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
Porque aunque son como espinas retorcidas, y ebrios con la bebida, vendrán a la destrucción como paja completamente secos.
11 From thee hath gone forth one that devised evil against Jehovah; That meditated destruction.
Uno ha salido de ti que está tramando el mal contra el Señor, consejero cuyos propósitos son perversos.
12 Thus saith Jehovah: Though they be flourishing, and likewise many, Yet shall they be cut down, and pass away; I have afflicted thee, but I will afflict thee no more.
Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: aunque estén listos y sean muchos; Los días de mi causa contra ti han terminado; serán cortados y pasarán. Aunque te he afligido, ya no te afligiré.
13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, And will burst thy bonds in sunder.
Y ahora dejaré que se te rompa el yugo y se separen tus cadenas.
14 And concerning thee hath Jehovah given command, That thy name shall no more be sown. From the house of thy god I will cut off the graven image and the molten image; I will make thy grave; for thou hast become vile!
El Señor ha dado una orden acerca de ti, que no tendrás descendencia que lleve tu nombre; destruiré la casa de tus dioses y arrancaré las imágenes y las imágenes de fundición; Te enterraré allí, porque es un lugar de vergüenza; porque eres completamente malvado.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, That publisheth peace! Keep, O Judah, thy feasts, perform thy vows! For no more shall the destroyer pass through thee; He is utterly consumed.
¡Mira en las montañas los pies del que viene con buenas noticias, dando palabras de paz! Celebra tus fiestas, oh Judá, da cumplimiento a tus juramentos; porque nunca más el hombre malvado volverá a pasar por ti; él está completamente destruido.
