< Matthew 8 >
1 When he had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
And when he came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him.
2 And lo! there came a leper and bowed down before him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me.
And look, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean."
3 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou cleansed. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
And he stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I am willing. Be cleansed." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 And Jesus saith to him, See thou tell no one; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
5 And when he had entered into Capernaum, there came to him a centurion, beseeching him,
And when he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him,
6 and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home palsied, sorely tormented.
and saying, "Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented."
7 He saith to him, I will come and heal him.
And he said to him, "I will come and heal him."
8 But the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst come under my roof; but only command with a word, and my servant will be made well.
And the centurion answered, "Lord, I'm not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 For even I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and tell another, 'Come,' and he comes; and tell my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
10 When Jesus heard this, he marveled, and said to those who followed, Truly do I say to you, Not even in Israel have I found such faith.
And when Jesus heard it, he was amazed, and said to those who followed, "Truly I tell you, I have not found so great a faith with anyone in Israel.
11 And I say to you, that many will come from the east and the west, and recline at table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
And I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
12 But the sons of the kingdom will go out into the outer darkness; there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and grinding of teeth."
13 And Jesus said to the centurion, Go thy way; as thou hast believed, so be it done to thee. And the servant was made well in that hour.
And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed in that hour.
14 And when Jesus had come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying sick of a fever.
And when Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.
15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she arose, and waited on him.
So he touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up and served him.
16 And when evening came, they brought to him many that were possessed by demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick;

17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He himself took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.”

18 And Jesus, seeing great multitudes about him, gave orders to depart to the other side.
Now when Jesus saw large crowds around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side.
19 And a certain scribe came and said to him, Teacher, I will follow thee wherever thou goest.
Then a scribe came, and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."
20 And Jesus saith to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have lodging-places; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
And Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head."
21 And another of the disciples said to him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
And another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father."
22 But he saith to him, Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.
But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead."
23 And when he had gone on board the boat, his disciples followed him.
And when he got into a boat, his disciples followed him.
24 And, lo! a great tempest arose on the lake, so that the boat was almost covered by the waves; but he was sleeping.
And look, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep.
25 And they came and awoke him, saying, Lord, save! we are perishing.
They came to him, and woke him up, saying, "Save us, Lord. We are dying."
26 And he saith to them, Why are ye fearful, ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the waves; and there was a great calm.
And he said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27 And the men marveled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the waves obey him?
And the men were amazed, saying, "What kind of person is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
28 And when he had come to the other side, into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two men possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass by that way.

29 And lo! they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? Didst thou come here to torment us before the time?
And look, they shouted, saying, "What do we have to do with you, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
30 Now there was at a distance from them a herd of many swine feeding.
Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them.
31 And the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us into the herd of swine.
And the demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs."
32 And he said to them, Go. And they came out, and went into the swine. And lo! the whole herd rushed down the steep into the lake, and perished in the waters.
And he said to them, "Go." And they came out, and went into the pigs, and look, the whole herd rushed down the cliff into the sea, and died in the water.
33 And the herdsmen fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, and what had happened to the men possessed by demons.
And those who fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, including what happened to those who were possessed with demons.
34 And lo! the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they besought him to depart from their borders.
And look, all the city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
