Psalms 86

1 [A Prayer by David.] Hear, YHWH, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.

A Prayer of David. Incline Thine ear, O LORD, and answer me; for I am poor and needy.

2 Preserve my soul, for I am godly. You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.

Keep my soul, for I am godly; O Thou my God, save Thy servant that trusteth in Thee.

3 Be merciful to me, YHWH, for I call to you all day long.

Be gracious unto me, O Lord; for unto Thee do I cry all the day.

4 Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, YHWH, do I lift up my soul.

Rejoice the soul of Thy servant; for unto Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

5 For you, YHWH, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.

For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to pardon, and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon Thee.

6 Hear, YHWH, my prayer. Listen to the voice of my petitions.

Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend unto the voice of my supplications.

7 In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me.

In the day of my trouble I call upon Thee; for Thou wilt answer me.

8 There is no one like you among the gods, YHWH, nor any deeds like your deeds.

There is none like unto Thee among the gods, O Lord, and there are no works like Thine.

9 All nations you have made will come and worship before you, YHWH. They shall glorify your name.

All nations whom Thou hast made shall come and prostrate themselves before Thee, O Lord; and they shall glorify Thy name.

10 For you are great, and do wondrous things. You are God alone.

For Thou art great, and doest wondrous things; Thou art God alone.

11 Teach me your way, YHWH. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name.

Teach me, O LORD, Thy way, that I may walk in Thy truth; make one my heart to fear Thy name.

12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with my whole heart. I will glorify your name forevermore.

I will thank Thee, O Lord my God, with my whole heart; and I will glorify Thy name for evermore.

13 For your loving kindness is great toward me. You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol. (Sheol h7585)

For great is Thy mercy toward me; and Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest nether-world. (Sheol h7585)

14 God, the proud have risen up against me. A company of violent men have sought after my soul, and they do not hold regard for you before them.

O God, the proud are risen up against me, and the company of violent men have sought after my soul, and have not set Thee before them.

15 But you, YHWH, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.

But Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

16 Turn to me, and have mercy on me. Give your strength to your servant. Save the son of your handmaid.

O turn unto me, and be gracious unto me; give Thy strength unto Thy servant, and save the son of Thy handmaid.

17 Show me a sign of your goodness, that those who hate me may see it, and be shamed, because you, YHWH, have helped me, and comforted me.

Work in my behalf a sign for good; that they that hate me may see it, and be put to shame, because Thou, LORD, hast helped me, and comforted me.
