< Proverbs 31 >

1 The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him.
Palabras del rey Lamuel, de Masa, (sentencias) que le enseñó su madre.
2 "Oh, my son. Oh, son of my womb. Oh, son of my vows.
¿Qué, hijo mío, qué, hijo de mis entrañas, que, hijo de mis votos (te diré)?
3 Do not give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
No des tu vigor a las mujeres, ni tu fuerza a las que son la ruina de los reyes.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for princes to take strong drink,
No conviene a los reyes, Lamuel; no conviene a los reyes beber vino, ni a los príncipes, tomar bebidas embriagantes.
5 lest they drink, and forget the decree, and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted.
Si los toman se olvidan de la ley, y pervierten el derecho de los pobres.
6 Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish; and wine to the bitter in soul:
Dad los licores a los que perecen, y el vino a los amargos de espíritu.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
Beban y olviden su miseria, y no se acuerden más de sus penas.
8 Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate.
Abre tu boca en favor del mudo, en defensa de todos los desamparados.
9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy."
Abre tu boca para juzgar con justicia, y haz justicia al desvalido y al pobre.
10 Who can find a worthy woman? For her price is far above rubies.
Una mujer fuerte, ¿quién podrá hallarla? Mucho mayor que de perlas es su precio.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain.
Confía en ella el corazón de su marido, el cual no tiene necesidad de tomar botín (a otros).
12 She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.
Le hace siempre bien, y nunca mal, todos los días de su vida.
13 She seeks wool and flax, and works eagerly with her hands.
Busca lana y lino y trabaja con la destreza de sus manos.
14 She is like the merchant ships. She brings her bread from afar.
Es como navío de mercader, trae de lejos su pan.
15 She rises also while it is yet night, gives food to her household, and portions for her servant girls.
Se levanta antes que amanezca, para distribuir la comida a su casa, y la tarea a sus criadas.
16 She considers a field, and buys it. With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.
Pone la mira en un campo y lo compra; con el fruto de sus manos planta una viña.
17 She girds her waist with strength, and makes her arms strong.
Se ciñe de fortaleza, y arma de fuerza sus brazos.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp doesn't go out by night.
Ve gustosa las ricas ganancias; no se apaga su lámpara durante la noche.
19 She lays her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
Aplica sus manos a la rueca; y sus dedos manejan el huso.
20 She opens her arms to the poor; yes, she extends her hands to the needy.
Abre su mano al pobre, y la alarga al mendigo.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
No teme por su familia a causa de la nieve, pues todos los de su casa tienen vestidos forrados.
22 She makes for herself carpets of tapestry. Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Labra ella alfombras de fino lino; y púrpura es su vestido.
23 Her husband is respected in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.
Conocido en las puertas es su marido, cuando se sienta entre los senadores del país.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and delivers sashes to the merchant.
Fabrica telas y las pone en venta, vende ceñidores al mercader.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.
Fortaleza y gracia forman su traje, y está alegre ante el porvenir.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom. Faithful instruction is on her tongue.
Abre su boca con sabiduría, y la ley del amor gobierna su lengua.
27 She looks well to the ways of her household, and doesn't eat the bread of idleness.
Vela sobre la conducta de su familia, y no come ociosa el pan.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her:
Álzanse sus hijos, y la llaman bendita. La ensalza también su marido:
29 "Many women do noble things, but you excel them all."
“Muchas hijas obraron proezas; pero tú superas a todas.”
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Jehovah, she shall be praised.
Engañosa es la belleza, y un soplo la hermosura. La mujer que teme a Yahvé, esa es digna de alabanza.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands. Let her works praise her in the gates.
Dadle del fruto de sus manos, y sus obras sean su alabanza ante el pueblo.
