< 1 Timothy 3 >
1 This is a faithful saying: If someone aspires to the office of bishop, he desires a good work.
Oonikka, “Woosa keethi kaalethiya asi gidanaw koykko lo77obaa amottees” giya oday tuma.
2 The overseer, therefore, must be beyond criticism, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, good at teaching;
Woosa keethaa kaalethiya asi borettonnayssa, issi machche xalaali de7eyssa, maaran de7eyssa, bana haareyssa, besseyssada ootheyssa, imathe mookkeyssa, tamaarssanaw dandda7eyssa,
3 not a drunkard, not violent, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money;
mathottonayssa, ooyettonayssa, palamonnayssa, miishe siiqonnayssa,
4 one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;
iya nayti iyaw kiitetteyssanne bonchcheyssa, ba keethaa aysanaw dandda7eyssa gidanaw bessees.
5 (but if someone does not know how to manage his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?)
Issi asi ba keethaa aysanaw dandda7onnaa ixxiko, Xoossaa woosa keethi waati aysanaw dandda7ii?
6 not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
Otoron sugettidi, Xalahey Xoossaa pirddan kunddidayssada kunddonna mela, oorathi ammanida asi gidanaw bessenna.
7 Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into disgrace and the trap of the devil.
Boreninne Xalahe xihen gelonna mela he uray ammanonna asa matan nashetteyssa gidanaw bessees.
8 Deacons, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not devoted to a lot of wine, not greedy for money;
Hessada qassi woosa keethaa daaqoneti bonchchettidayssata, nam77a doona odettonayssata, daro woyne ushshaa uyonnayssata, miishe yaaretonnayssata,
9 holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
ammanuwa xuuraa geeshsha kahan naageyssata gidanaw bessees.
10 Let them also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, if they are blamesless.
Entti koyrottidi paacettanaw koshshees; bntta bolla borey baynna ixxiko, woosa keethaa daaqone gididi ootho.
11 Their wives in the same way must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.
Hessadakka, entta maccasati bonchchettidayssata, zigironnayssata, maaran de7eyssata, ubbaban ammanetteyssata gidanaw bessees.
12 Let deacons be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
Woosa keethaa daaqoneti issi machchi xalaali de7eyssa gido. Ba naytanne ba keethaa loythi ayseyssa gidanaw bessees.
13 For those who have served well as deacons gain for themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Woosa keethaa daaqone gididi, lo77o ooso ootheyssati banttaw gita bonchcho qassi Kiristtoos Yesuusan bantaw de7iya ammanuwabaa odanaw daro minotethi demmana.
14 These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly;
Taani ha kiitaa new xaafashe, ellesada neekko baana gada ufayssi wothays.
15 but if I wait long, that you may know how people ought to behave themselves in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Shin taani boonna gam77iko, Xoossaa Keethan asay waanidi daanaw bessiyako erana mela hayssa new xaafays. De7o Xoossaa keethay tumatethaas tuussinne baaso.
16 Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: He was revealed in the flesh, justified by the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.
Nu ammanuwa xuuray sidhey baynna gita. Kiristtoosi asho ma7idi qonccis. Iya tumatethaa Geeshsha Ayyaanay markkattis. Kiitanchchotas benttis; I kawotetha ubbaas sabbakettis. Alamen de7iya asan ammanettis; bonchchon salo ekettis.
