< Joshua 5 >
1 And it happened, when all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard how that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel, until they had passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.
Awo bakabaka ba ab’Amoli abaali emitala ebugwanjuba bw’omugga Yoludaani, ne bakabaka b’Abakanani abaliraanye ennyanja bwe baawulira nga Mukama yakaliza amazzi g’omugga Yoludaani Abayisirayiri basobole okusomoka, ne batekemuka omwoyo olw’Abayisirayiri.
2 At that time, the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time."
Mu kiseera ekyo Mukama n’agamba Yoswa nti, “Weekolere obwambe obw’amayinja amoogi, okomole abasajja bonna Abayisirayiri abatakomolwanga.”
3 Joshua made himself flint knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the Hill of the Foreskins.
Bw’atyo Yoswa n’akola obwambe mu mayinja amoogi n’akomolera abasajja Abayisirayiri ku lusozi oluyitibwa Gibeyakalaloosi.
4 This is the reason Joshua circumcised: all the people who came out of Egypt, who were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.
Ensonga Yoswa kyeyava abakomola y’eno: abasajja Abayisirayiri abaava e Misiri nga mwe muli n’abalwanyi bonna, baafiira mu ddungu.
5 For all the people who came out were circumcised; but all the people who were born in the wilderness by the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.
Abaava e Misiri bonna baali bamaze okukomolebwa, kyokka abaana baabwe abaazaalirwa mu ddungu tebaali bakomole.
6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, that is, the men of war who came out of Egypt, perished, because they did not listen to the voice of the LORD, those to whom the LORD swore that they would not see the land which the LORD swore to their ancestors that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Abayisirayiri baamala emyaka amakumi ana nga batambula mu ddungu okutuusa bonna, nga mwe muli n’abalwanyi, lwe baafa ne baggwaawo, kubanga baagaana okugondera eddoboozi lya Mukama. Mukama kyeyava abalayirira nti talibaganya kutuuka mu nsi eyo gye yasuubiza bajjajjaabwe, ensi ekulukuta amata n’omubisi gw’enjuki.
7 And their children, whom he raised up in their place, were circumcised by Joshua; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them on the way.
Kale mu bifo byabwe Mukama yazzaawo baana baabwe era abo Yoswa be yakomola kubanga tebaakomolerwa mu kkubo.
8 And it happened, when they were done circumcising all the nation, that they stayed in their places in the camp until they were healed.
Bonna nga bamaze okukomolwa tebaava mu weema zaabwe mu lusiisira, okutuusa nga bamaze okuwona.
9 And the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I have rolled away the disgrace of Egypt from off you." Therefore the name of that place was called Gilgal, to this day.
Mukama n’agamba Yoswa nti, “Okuva olwa leero mbaggyeeko ekivume ky’e Misiri.” Ekifo ekyo kyekyava kiyitibwa Girugaali n’okutuusa kaakano.
10 The children of Israel camped in Gilgal. They kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho.
Awo Abayisirayiri bwe baali bakyasiisidde e Girugaali embaga ey’Okuyitako n’etuuka era ne bagirya akawungeezi ku lunaku olw’ekkumi n’ennya olw’omwezi, mu lusenyi lw’e Yeriko.
11 They ate unleavened cakes and parched grain of the produce of the land on the next day after the Passover, in the same day.
Enkeera ne balya emmere ey’omu nsi y’e Kanani: emigaati egitali mizimbulukuse n’empeke ensiike.
12 The manna ceased on the next day, after they had eaten of the produce of the land. The children of Israel did not have manna any more; but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
Okuva ku lunaku olwo lwe baalya ku mmere y’omu Kanani tebaddamu kufuna Maanu; olwo ne batandika kulyanga mmere ya mu nsi eyo.
13 It happened, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and look, a man stood in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua went to him, and said to him, "Are you for us, or for our adversaries?"
Awo Yoswa bwe yali anaatera okutuuka e Yeriko bwe yayimusa amaaso n’alaba omusajja akutte ekitala ekisowole ng’amwolekedde. Yoswa kyeyava amusemberera n’amubuuza nti, “Oli ku ludda lwaffe oba ku lwa balabe baffe?” Ye n’amuddamu nti,
14 And he said to him, "Truly I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come." And Joshua fell facedown to the ground and worshipped, and said to him, "What does my lord say to his servant?"
“Siriiko ludda. Nze mukulu w’eggye lya Mukama era ntuuse.” Yoswa n’agwa wansi, n’avuunama n’amusinza era n’amubuuza nti, “Mukama wange, oŋŋamba ki omuddu wo?”
15 The commander of the army of the LORD said to Joshua, "Take your shoes off of your feet; for the place on which you stand is holy." Joshua did so.
Naye omukulu w’eggye lya Mukama n’amuddamu nti, “Yambulamu engatto zo kubanga ekifo kino mw’oli kitukuvu.” Ne Yoswa naye n’akola nga bwe yalagirwa.
