< John 18 >

1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he passed, with his disciples, over the brook Kidron; where was a garden, into which he entered, and his disciples.
Gauça hauc erran cituenean, ilki cedin Iesus bere discipuluequin Cedrongo torrentaz berce aldera, non baitzén baratzebat, ceinetan sar baitzedin hura eta haren discipuluac
2 Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place; because Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples.
Eta baçaquian leku hura Iudasec-ere, ceinec traditzen baitzuen hura: ecen anhitzetan Iesus bildu içan cen hara bere discipuluequin.
3 Then Judas, having got the cohort and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came thither with lanterns, and torches, and arms.
Iudas bada harturic soldadozco bandabat, eta Sacrificadore principaletaric eta Phariseuetaric officierac, ethor cedin hara lanternequin eta torchoequin eta harmequin.
4 But Jesus, who knew all that was coming upon him, went forth, and said to them, Whom do you seek?
Iesusec bada çaquizquialaric haren gainera ethorteco ciradenen gauça guciac, aitzinaraturic erran ciecén, Noren bilha çabiltzate?
5 They answered him, Jesus, the Nazarene. Jesus replied, I am he. Now Judas, who betrayed him, was with them.
Ihardets cieçoten, Iesus Nazarenoren. Dioste Iesusec, Ni naiz. Eta hequin cegoen Iudas-ere ceinec traditzen baitzuen hura.
6 He had no sooner said to them, I am he, than they, going backward, fell to the ground.
Bada erran cerauenean, Ni naiz, guibelerat citecen, eta eror citecen lurrera.
7 He, therefore, asked them again, Whom do you seek? They said, Jesus, the Nazarene.
Orduan berriz interroga citzan, Noren bilha çabiltzate? Eta hec erran ceçaten, Iesus Nazarenoren.
8 Jesus answered, I have told you, that I am he. If, therefore, you seek me, let these go away.
Ihardets ceçan Iesusec, Erran drauçuet ecen ni naicela: bada baldin ene bilha baçabiltzate, vtzitzaçue hauc ioaitera.
9 Thus was that which he had spoken verified, Of those whom thou gavest me, I have lost none.
Erran çuen hitza compli ledinçát, Niri hic eman drauzquidanetaric, eztiát galdu batre.
10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. Now the servant's name was Malchus.
Eta Simon Pierrisec nola baitzuen ezpatá, idoqui ceçan hura, eta io ceçan Sacrificadore subiranoaren cerbitzaria, eta ebaqui cieçón escuineco beharria: eta cerbitzariaren icena cen Malchus.
11 Jesus then said to Peter, Put up the sword into the scabbard. Shall I not drink the cup which the Father has given me?
Erran cieçón bada Iesusec Pierrisi, Eçarrac eure ezpatá maguinán: ala eztut edanen Aitac niri eman drautan copa?
12 Then the cohort, and their commander, and the Jewish officers, apprehended Jesus; and having bound him,
Orduan bandác eta capitainac eta Iuduen officieréc elkarrequin hatzaman ceçaten Iesus, eta esteca ceçaten.
13 brought him first to Annas, because he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.
Eta eraman ceçaten lehenic Annasgana: (ecen Caiphasen guinharreba cen, cein baitzén vrthe hartaco Sacrificadore subirano) eta harc igor ceçan hura estecaturic Caiphas Sacrificadore subiranoagana.
14 Now it was Caiaphas, who had said in council to the Jews, It is expedient that one man die for the people.
Eta Caiphas cen conseillu eman cerauena Iuduey ecen probetchu cela guiçombat hil ledin populuagatic.
15 Meantime Simon Peter, and another disciple, followed Jesus. That disciple, being known to the high priest, entered his court with Jesus.
Eta iarreiquiten çayón Iesusi Simon Pierris, eta berce discipulubat, eta discipulu hura cen Sacrificadore subiranoaren eçaguna, eta sar cedin Iesusequin batean Sacrificadore subiranoaren salán
16 But Peter stood without, at the door. Therefore the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out, and spoke to the portress, and brought in Peter.
Baina Pierris borthaldean campotic cegoen. Ilki cedin bada berce discipulu Sacrificadore subiranoaren eçaguna, eta minça cequión nescato borthalçainari, eta sar eraci ceçan Pierris.
17 Then the maid, the portress, said to Peter, Are not you also one of this man's disciples? He answered, I am not.
Eta erran cieçón Pierrisi nescato borthalçainac. Ez othe aiz hi-ere guiçon hunen discipuluetaric? Dio harc, Ez naun.
18 Now, the servants and the officers, stood near a fire, which they had made, because it was cold, and warmed themselves. And Peter was standing with them, and warming himself.
Eta ceuden han cerbitzariac eta officierac ikatz kamborra eguinic, ecen hotz ari cen, eta berotzen ciraden: eta cen hequin Pierris-ere eta berotzen cegoen.
19 Then the high priest interrogated Jesus concerning his disciples and his doctrine.
Sacrificadore subiranoac bada interroga ceçan Iesus bere discipuluéz eta bere doctrináz.
20 Jesus answered, I spoke openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogues and in the temple, whither the Jews constantly resort. I said nothing in secret.
Ihardets cieçón Iesusec, Ni publicoqui minçatu içan natzayóc munduari, nic bethiere iracatsi vkan diat synagogán eta templean, nora Iuduac alde gucietaric biltzen baitirade, eta secretuan eznauc minçatu deus.
21 Why do you examine me? Examine them who heard me teach. They know what I said.
Cergatic interrogatzen nauc ni? interrogaitzac ni cer minçatu natzayen ençun dutenac: hará, hec ciaquié cer erran dudan nic.
22 When he had spoken thus, one of the officers who attended, gave him a blow, and said, Do you answer the high priest thus?
Eta gauça hauc harc erran cituenean, present ciraden officieretaric batec cihor colpebat eman cieçón Iesusi, cioela, Horrela ihardesten draucac Sacrificadore subiranoari?
23 Jesus replied, If I have spoken amiss, show in what the wrong consists: but if well, why do you smite me?
Ihardets cieçón Iesusec, baldin gaizqui minçatu banaiz, testifica eçac gaizquiaz: eta baldin vngui erran badut, cergatic ioiten nauc?
24 Now, Annas had sent him bound to Caiaphas, the high priest.
Orduan igor ceçan hura Annasec estecaturic Caiphas Sacrificadore subiranoagana.
25 As Peter stood warming himself, they asked him, Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.
Eta cegoen han Simon Pierris, eta berotzen cen: erran cieçoten bada hari, Ez othe aiz hi-ere haren discipuluetaric? vka ceçan harc, eta erran ceçan, Ez naiz.
26 One of the servants of the high priest, a kinsman to him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, Did I not see you in the garden with him?
Diotsa hari Sacrificadore subiranoaren cerbitzarietaric cembeitec, Pierrisec beharria ebaqui ceraucanaren ahaide batec, Ez aut nic hi ikussi baratzean harequin?
27 Peter denied again; and immediately the cock crew.
Orduan berriz vka ceçan Pierrisec, eta bertan oillarrac io ceçan.
28 Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the pretorium: it was now morning; but the Jews entered not the pretorium, lest they should be defiled, and so not in a condition to eat the passover.
Guero eraman ceçaten Iesus Caiphasganic Pretoriora: eta cen goiça, eta berac etzitecen sar Pretoriora, satsu ezlitecençat, baina Bazcoa ian leçatençat.
29 Pilate, therefore, went out to them, and said, Of what do you accuse this man?
Ilki cedin bada Pilate hetara campora, eta erran ceçan, Cer accusatione daccarqueçue guiçon hunen contra?
30 They answered, If he were not a criminal, we would not have delivered him to you.
Ihardets ceçaten eta erran cieçoten, Baldin hori gaizqui-eguile ezpaliz, ezquindrauqueán hiri liuratu.
31 Pilate said, Then take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law. The Jews replied, We are not permitted to put any man to death.
Dioste orduan Pilatec, Har eçaçue haur çuec, eta çuen Leguearen arauez condemna eçaçue. Orduan erran cieçoten Iuduéc, Eztuc sori guretzát nehoren hiltzea.
32 And thus, what Jesus had spoken, signifying what death he should die, was accomplished.
Haur cen Iesusen hitza compli ledinçát, cein erran baitzeçan aditzera emaiten çuela cer herioz hil behar luen.
33 Then Pilate returned to the pretorium, and having called Jesus, said to him, Are you the King of the Jews?
Sar cedin bada berriz Pretoriora Pilate, eta dei ceçan Iesus, eta erran cieçón, Hi aiz Iuduen Reguea?
34 Jesus answered, Do you say this of yourself, or did others tell you concerning me?
Ihardets cieçon Iesusec, Eurorren burutic hic hori erraiten duc, ala bercéc erran draue niçaz?
35 Pilate replied, Am I am Jew? Your own nation, yes, the chief priests have delivered you to me. What have you done?
Ihardets ceçan Pilatec, Ala ni Iudu naiz? eure nationeac eta Sacrificadore principaléc liuratu arauté: cer eguin duc?
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my adherents would have fought to prevent my falling into the hands of the Jews; but my kingdom is not hence.
Ihardets ceçan Iesusec, Ene resumá eztuc mundu hunetaric: baldin mundu hunetaric baliz ene resumá, ene gendeac combati litezquec Iuduey liura eznendinçát: baina orain ene resumá eztuc hemengo.
37 Then Pilate said, You are a King, then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a King. For this I was born; and for this I came into the world, to give testimony to the truth. Whosoever is of the truth, hearkens to me.
Erran cieçón orduan Pilatec, Regue aiz bada hi? Ihardets ceçan Iesusec, Hic dioc ecen Regue naicela ni. Ni hunetacotzát iayo içan nauc, eta hunetacotzát ethorri içan nauc mundura, testimoniage demodançát eguiari. Eguiatic den guciac, ençuten dic ene voza.
38 Pilate asked him, What is truth? and so saying, went out again to the Jews, and said to them, For my part, I find nothing culpable in this man.
Diotsa Pilatec, Cer da eguia? Eta haur erran çuenean, berriz ilki cedin Iuduetara, eta dioste, Nic eztut erideiten haur baithan causaric batre.
39 But since it is customary that I release to you one at the passover, will you that I release to you the King of the Jews?
Eta costumabat baituçue bat larga dieçaçuedan Bazcoz: nahi duçue bada larga dieçaçuedan Iuduen Reguea?
40 Then they all cried, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
Oihuz iar citecen bada berriz guciac, cioitela, Ez hori, baina Barabbas: eta cen Barabbas gaichtaguin-bat.
