1 Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day brings forth.
Jing nikhoa dingin kiletsah tothon thu seihih in, ajeh chu itobang nikho ahung lhun ding nahepoi.
2 Let another praise you, and not your own mouth, A stranger, and not your own lips.
Nakamsunga nakipachat sangin, midang kipachat sah jon, chule nangle nang nakam sunga naki vahchoi sangin, hetkhahlou kholgam mi kivahchoi sah in.
3 A stone [is] heavy, and the sand [is] heavy, And the anger of a fool Is heavier than them both.
Songhi agih lheh in, neldi jong gihtah ahi. Hinlah mingol lunghanna hi neldi sanga jong gihjo nalai ahi.
4 Fury [is] fierce, and anger [is] overflowing, And who stands before jealousy?
Lunghan hi giloutah ahin, lungsat in jong mi achup jin; hinlah thangthipna hi akhoh jon ahi.
5 Better [is] open reproof than hidden love.
Aguh a kingailut sangin, lhang phonga kiphosal aphajoi.
6 The wounds of a lover are faithful, And the kisses of an enemy [are] abundant.
Gol phatah’a kon kimavona chu kitah jal ahin, melman eibeng chop vang kilhep lhahna ahibouve.
7 A satiated soul treads down a honeycomb, And every bitter thing [is] sweet [to] a hungry soul.
Mihem aoi-vasa dingin khoiju jeng jong lohso nabep ahin, agilkilpa din vang an tuimopen jong alhum tobang ahi.
8 As a bird wandering from her nest, So [is] a man wandering from his place.
Ain’a kon vah mangpa chu, abusunga kon lengmang vahcha tobang ahi.
9 Perfume and incense make the heart glad, And the sweetness of one’s friend—from counsel of the soul.
Thao le gimnamtui in mihem lungthim akipahsah jin, gim hesohna vang hin mihem lhagao athohlal sah jin ahi.
10 Do not forsake your own friend and the friend of your father, And do not enter the house of your brother in a day of your calamity, A near neighbor [is] better than a brother far off.
Nagol hihen napagol hijongle nung sun hih in, hahsatnan nahin phah nikhon jong nasopipa in-a sunglha hih in; ajeh chu gam latah a um penpi sopi sang in, naicha um hengle kom aphachom joi.
11 Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, And I return a word [to] my reproacher.
Kachapa, chingthei jin kalungthim kipa sah jing in, chutileh eidoupa jeng jong kadonbut thei ding ahi.
12 The prudent has seen the evil, he is hidden, The simple have passed on, they are punished.

13 Take his garment when a stranger has been guarantor, And pledge it for a strange woman.
Hetkhah lou mikhat batsah nadinga kitung pachu, aponsil kichom peh jenga! Hetphalou mi dinga, hitobang mihem chu akipehdoh jeng thei nadem!
14 Whoever is greeting his friend with a loud voice, Rising early in the morning, It is reckoned a light thing to him.
Jingkah matah-a thouva othong jejua, phatthei osam chun aheng akom agaosap joh ahibouve.
15 A continual dropping in a day of rain, And a woman of contentions are alike,
Tanglouva nilhum keija gojuh hi, numei phunse toh bang bep ahi.
16 Whoever is hiding her has hidden the wind, And the ointment of his right hand calls out.
Hitobang numei phohtang theija chun, khohui geija aphotang jou ding ahin; akhutphang jet lam’a jong, thaotui akihamdoh thei ding ahi.
17 Iron is sharpened by iron, And a man sharpens the face of his friend.
Thihchun thih mama anol hemthei bangin, mihem jong khat in khat akikhelsah thei ahi.
18 The keeper of a fig tree eats its fruit, And the preserver of his master is honored.
Koi hileh theiphung phut chan in aga aneh bangin, koi hileh apupa ngaichat jouse hethem chu, mi jabolna achang teijin ahi.
19 As [in] water the face [is] to face, So the heart of man to man.
Twi chung ivet teng mihem eima mai akilahdoh ji bangin, mihem kiti jong hi alunggil in aphondohji ahi.
20 Sheol and destruction are not satisfied, And the eyes of man are not satisfied. (Sheol h7585)

21 A refining pot [is] for silver, and a furnace for gold, And a man according to his praise.
Khangbel hi dangka lhahtheng na ding ahin, thuh khuh jong hi sana sonjolna’a kimang ahi; hijeh achu mihem jeng jong pachatna dinmun’a aum laitah a bou patepna changji ahi.
22 If you beat the foolish in a mortar, Among washed things—with a pestle, His folly does not turn aside from off him.
Mingol chu lhengkong sunga suhdun changbong toh goitha jongleh chun, angolna laitah chu amatahsa’a kon potdoh dehlou ding ahi.
23 Know the face of your flock well, Set your heart to the droves,
Nakelngoi honte umchan hethem jingin, chule nabong honte jeng jong phaten vephan;
24 For riches [are] not for all time, Nor a crown to generation and generation.
Ajeh chu haona hi tonsotna ding ahipon, lallukhuh jong hi akhang khang ding um hinam?
25 The hay was revealed, and the tender grass seen, And the herbs of mountains gathered.
Hampa apul chaisoh tengleh ana ahung noudoh kit jin, chule molchunga hampa louhing jouse jong kichom khomji ahi.
26 Lambs [are] for your clothing, And the price of the field [are] male goats,
Nakelngoi teovin ponsil ding natopeh diu, chule nakelchateu vin jong loumun khat man natopeh diu ahi.
27 And a sufficiency of goats’ milk [is] for your bread, For bread to your house, and life to your girls!
Nadon khopset kelcha noitwi tatlouva umjing ding, chule na in-sung vahna dingle nalhacha nungah ho vahna dia jong lhingset ding ahi.
