< Numbers 35 >
1 And YHWH speaks to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,
Ɛberɛ a Israelfoɔ bɔɔ atenaseɛ wɔ Yordan ho, Moab tata so a ɛne Yeriko di nhwɛanimu no, Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose sɛ,
2 “Command the sons of Israel, and they have given to the Levites cities to inhabit from the inheritance of their possession; you also give [the] outskirt around them, of the cities, to the Levites.
“Ka kyerɛ Israelfoɔ no na wɔmfa wɔn agyapadeɛ no mu bi a ɛyɛ nkuro ne ɛho mmoa adidibea mma Lewifoɔ.
3 And the cities have been for them to inhabit, and their outskirts are for their livestock, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
Nkuro no mu na wɔbɛtena na wɔn anantwie, wɔn nnwan ne wɔn mmoa a aka no nso akɔ adidi wɔ adidibea hɔ.
4 And the outskirts of the cities which you give to the Levites [are], from the wall of the city and outside, one thousand cubits around.
“Wɔn mmoa adidibea no kɛseɛ bɛfiri kuro no afasuo ho a ne fa biara tɛtrɛtɛ yɛ anammɔn apem ne ahanum.
5 And you have measured from the outside of the city: the east quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the south quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the west quarter—two thousand by the cubit, and the north quarter—two thousand by the cubit; and the city [is] in the midst; this is the outskirts of the cities to them.
Monsusu anammɔn mpensa mfiri kuro no afasuo no ho wɔ nʼafanan nyinaa. Yei bɛyɛ adidibea kɛseɛ ama nkuro no.
6 And the cities which you give to the Levites [are] the six cities of refuge, which you give for the fleeing there of the manslayer, and besides them you give forty-two cities;
“Momma Lewifoɔ no dwanekɔbea nkuropɔn nsia, baabi a obi a wafom akum ɔfoforɔ no bɛtumi adwane akɔ. Momfa nkuro aduanan mmienu nka wɔn ho.
7 all the cities which you give to the Levites [are] forty-eight cities, them and their outskirts.
Ne nyinaa bɛyɛ nkuro aduanan nwɔtwe ne ho adidibea.
8 And the cities which you give [are] from the possession of the sons of Israel; from the many you multiply, and from the few you diminish; each, according to his inheritance which they inherit, gives to the Levites from his cities.”
Saa nkuro yi bɛfiri Israelfoɔ no agyapadeɛ mu. Mmusuakuo no mu akɛseɛ bɛma Lewifoɔ no nkuro bebree na mmusuakuo nketewa no ama kakraa. Abusuakuo biara bɛma sɛdeɛ nʼagyapadeɛ kɛseɛ teɛ.”
9 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose sɛ,
10 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: When you are passing over the Jordan to the land of Canaan,
“Ka kyerɛ nnipa no sɛ, sɛ wɔduru asase no so a,
11 and have prepared cities for yourselves—they are cities of refuge to you—then a manslayer, striking a person through ignorance, has fled there,
wɔnyi Dwanekɔbea Nkuro a wɔde bɛma obiara a wafom akum onipa na ɔpɛ sɛ ɔdwane kɔ hɔ.
12 and the cities have been for a refuge to you from the redeemer, and the manslayer does not die until his standing before the congregation for judgment.
Saa nkuro yi bɛyɛ dwanekɔbea ama owudifoɔ no afiri owufoɔ no abusuafoɔ a wɔpɛ sɛ wɔtɔ owufoɔ no wuo so awere; na ɛnsɛ sɛ wɔkum owudifoɔ no, gye sɛ wɔadi nʼasɛm abu no kumfɔ.
13 As for the cities which you give, six [are] cities of refuge to you;
Ɛsɛ sɛ wɔsisi Dwanekɔbea Nkuro yi mu mmiɛnsa wɔ Kanaan asase so
14 three of the cities you give from beyond the Jordan, and three of the cities you give in the land of Canaan; they are cities of refuge.
na wɔsisi mmiɛnsa nso wɔ Asubɔnten Yordan apueeɛ fam.
15 For sons of Israel, and for a sojourner, and for a settler in their midst, are these six cities for a refuge, for the fleeing there of anyone striking a person through ignorance.
Ɛnyɛ Israelfoɔ nko na ɛhɔ bɛyɛ wɔn dwanekɔbea, na mmom, ɛbɛyɛ dwanekɔbea ama ahɔhoɔ ne akwantufoɔ nyinaa.
16 And if he has struck him with an instrument of iron, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
“Nanso, sɛ obi de dadeɛ poma sin bi bɔ obi kum no a, wɔfa no sɛ wadi awu, enti ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkum owudifoɔ no.
17 And if he has struck him with a stone [in] the hand, with which he could die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
Anaasɛ, sɛ wɔde ɛboɔ kɛseɛ bi bɔɔ owufoɔ no a, ɛyɛ awudie enti ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkum owudifoɔ no.
18 Or [if] he has struck him with a wooden instrument [in] the hand, with which he could die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
Saa ara nso na sɛ wɔde dua na wɔde kumm no a, ɛte ara ne no.
19 The redeemer of blood puts the murderer to death himself; in his coming against him he puts him to death.
Sɛ ɔweretɔfoɔ no hyia owudifoɔ no baabiara a, ɔwɔ ho kwan sɛ ɔkum no bi.
20 And if he pushes him in hatred, or has cast [anything] at him by lying in wait, and he dies,
Enti, sɛ obi nam ɔtan so to biribi bɔ obi, anaasɛ ɔtetɛ no,
21 or he has struck him with his hand in enmity, and he dies, the striker is certainly put to death; he [is] a murderer; the redeemer of blood puts the murderer to death in his coming against him.
anaa ɔde abufuo bɔ no kuturuku na onii no wu a, ɔyɛ owudifoɔ enti ɛsɛ sɛ ɔweretɔfoɔ no kum owudifoɔ no.
22 And if, in an instant, without enmity, he has pushed him, or has cast any instrument at him without lying in wait,
“Na sɛ nkwanhyia no mu, sɛ obi anhyɛ da na ɔtoo biribi anaa ɛboɔ bi a wanto no abufuo so, na ɔnnim sɛ ɛbɛbɔ obi
23 or with any stone with which he could die, without seeing, indeed, causes [it] to fall on him, and he dies, and he [is] not his enemy, nor seeking his evil,
anaasɛ ɛnyɛ nʼadwene sɛ ɔbɛha ne ɔtamfoɔ, na sɛ onipa ko no wu a,
24 then the congregation has judged between the striker and the redeemer of blood by these judgments.
ɛsɛ sɛ wɔdi asɛm no. Wɔbɛhwɛ sɛ ɛyɛ nkwanhyia anaa ɛnyɛ nkwanhyia, anaasɛ ɛsɛ sɛ wɔde saa onipa no hyɛ owufoɔ no weretɔni nsa anaa wɔmmfa no nhyɛ ne sa.
25 And the congregation has delivered the manslayer out of the hand of the redeemer of blood, and the congregation has caused him to return to the city of his refuge, to where he has fled, and he has dwelt in it until the death of the chief priest who has been anointed with the holy oil.
Sɛ wɔsi gyinaeɛ sɛ ɛyɛ nkwanhyia a, nnipa no bɛgye owudifoɔ no afiri ɔweretɔfoɔ no nsam. Wɔbɛma owudifoɔ no atena Dwanekɔbea Kuro no mu hɔ ara akɔsi sɛ ɔsɔfopanin bɛwu.
26 And if the manslayer indeed goes out [from] the border of the city of his refuge to where he flees,
“Sɛ owudifoɔ no firi kuro no mu
27 and the redeemer of blood has found him at the outside of the border of the city of his refuge, and the redeemer of blood has slain the manslayer, blood [is] not [reckoned] to him;
na ɔweretɔni no hyia no na ɔkum no tua ka a, wɔmmfa no sɛ ɛyɛ awudie,
28 for he dwells in the city of his refuge until the death of the chief priest; and after the death of the chief priest the manslayer turns back to the city of his possession.
ɛfiri sɛ, anka ɛsɛ sɛ owudifoɔ no tena kuro no mu kɔsi mmerɛ a ɔsɔfopanin no bɛwu. Ɔsɔfopanin no wuo akyi no, owudifoɔ no tumi kɔ ne kurom.
29 And these things have been for a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations, in all your dwellings.
“Yei yɛ Israelfoɔ mmara a ɛwɔ hɔ daa firi awoɔ ntoatoasoɔ so kɔsi awoɔ ntoatoasoɔ so.
30 Whoever strikes a person, by the mouth of witnesses [one] slays the murderer; and one witness does not testify against a person to cause [him] to die.
“Ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkum awudifoɔ nyinaa. Nanso gye sɛ adansefoɔ boro onipa baako di tia no ansa na ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkum no. Sɛ onipa baako di adanseɛ tia no nso a, ɛnsɛ sɛ wɔkum no.
31 And you take no atonement for the life of a murderer who [is] condemned to die, for he is certainly put to death;
“Ɛberɛ biara a wɔbɛbua obi kumfɔ no, ɛsɛ sɛ ɔwuo a wɔnnye mpata biara.
32 and you take no atonement for him [who had] to flee to the city of his refuge, to return to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
“Odwanefoɔ bi a ɔhyɛ Dwanekɔbea Kuropɔn no mu no nso nni ho ɛkwan sɛ ɔtua sika ma wɔma no ɛkwan kɔ ne kurom ansa na ɔsɔfopanin no awu.
33 And you do not profane the land which you [are] in, for blood profanes the land; as for the land, it is not pardoned for blood which is shed in it except by the blood of him who sheds it;
“Yei na ɛbɛma awerɛhyɛmu sɛ asase a mote so no ho rengu fi, ɛfiri sɛ, awudie gu asase ho fi. Wɔrentumi nyɛ mpatadeɛ foforɔ biara mma awudie gye sɛ wɔkum owudifoɔ no.
34 and you do not defile the land in which you are dwelling, in the midst of which I dwell, for I, YHWH, dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel.”
Monngu asase a morekɔtena so no ho fi, ɛfiri sɛ, Me, Awurade mete hɔ bi. Mene Awurade a mete Israelfoɔ mu no.”
