2 Samuel 17
1 And Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Please let me choose twelve thousand men, and I arise and pursue after David tonight,
१त्यानंतर अहिथोफेलने अबशालोमला सांगितले, मला आता बारा हजार मनुष्यांची निवड करू दे, म्हणजे आज रात्रीच मी दावीदाचा पाठलाग करतो.
2 and come on him, and he [will be] weary and feeble-handed, and I have caused him to tremble, and all the people who [are] with him have fled, and I have struck the king by himself,
२तो थकला भागलेला असताना भयभीत झालेला असतानाच मी त्यास पकडीन. हे पाहून त्याचे लोक पळ काढतील फक्त राजा दावीदाचा मी वध करीन.
3 and I bring back all the people to you—as the turning back of the whole [except] the man whom you are seeking—[then] all the people are [at] peace.”
३बाकीच्यांना तुझ्या समक्ष हजर करीन. तो मेल्याची खात्री झाली की सगळे लोक तक्रार न करता परत येतील.
4 And the word is right in the eyes of Absalom, and in the eyes of all [the] elderly of Israel.
४अबशालोम आणि इस्राएलमधील सर्व वडीलधारी मंडळी यांना हा बेत पसंत पडला.
5 And Absalom says, “Now call for Hushai the Archite also, and we hear what [is] in his mouth—even he.”
५पण तरीसुध्दा अबशालोम म्हणाला हूशय अर्की यालाही बोलावून घ्या. त्याचे म्हणणेही मला ऐकून घ्यायचे आहे.
6 And Hushai comes to Absalom, and Absalom speaks to him, saying, “According to this word Ahithophel has spoken; do we do his word? If not, you—speak.”
६मग हूशय अबशालोमकडे आला अबशालोम त्यास म्हणाला, अहिथोफेलची योजना अशी आहे. तुला त्यावर काय वाटते? तसे करावे की नाही ते सांग.
7 And Hushai says to Absalom, “The counsel that Ahithophel has counseled [is] not good at this time.”
७हूशय अबशालोमला म्हणाला, अहिथोफेलचा सल्ला आता या घटकेला तरी रास्त नाही.
8 And Hushai says, “You have known your father and his men, that they [are] heroes, and they are bitter in soul as a bereaved bear in a field, and your father [is] a man of war, and does not lodge with the people;
८तो पुढे म्हणाला, तुमचे वडील आणि त्यांच्या बाजूचे लोक चांगले बळकट आहेत हे तुम्ही जाणताच. त्यातून ते आता पिल्ले हिरावून नेलेल्या रानातल्या अस्वलासारखे चिडलेले आहेत. तुमचे वडील एक कुशल योद्धा आहेत. ते भरवस्तीत रात्रभर मुक्काम करणार नाहीत.
9 behold, now, he is hidden in one of the pits, or in one of the places, and it has been at the falling among them at the commencement, that the hearer has heard and said, There has been a slaughter among the people who [are] after Absalom;
९एखाद्या गुहेत किंवा निर्जन ठिकाणी ते कदाचित गेले सुध्दा असतील. त्यांनी तुमच्या लोकांवर आधी हल्ला केला तर लोक ते ऐकून म्हणतील, अबशालोमचे लोक हरत चाललेले दिसत आहेत.
10 and he also, the son of valor, whose heart [is] as the heart of the lion, utterly melts, for all Israel knows that your father is a hero, and those with him [are] sons of valor.
१०मग तर सिंहासारख्या शूरलोकांचेही धैर्य खचेल कारण तुमचे वडील पराक्रमी आहेत आणि त्यांच्या बाजूची माणसे शूर आहेत हे सर्वच इस्राएल लोकांस ठाऊक आहे.
11 So that I have counseled: let all Israel be diligently gathered to you, from Dan even to Beer-Sheba, as the sand that [is] by the sea for multitude, and you yourself are going in the midst;
११तेव्हा मी असे सुचवतो तुम्ही दानपासून बैर-शेबापर्यंत सर्व इस्राएल लोकांस एकत्र आणा म्हणजे वाळवंटाप्रमाणे विशाल सैन्य तयार होईल मग तुम्ही स्वत: युध्दात उतरा.
12 and we have come to him in one of the places where he is found, and we [are] on him as the dew falls on the ground, and there has not been left of him and of all the men who [are] with him even one.
१२दावीद जेथे लपला असेल तेथून आम्ही त्यास धरून आणू जमिनीवर दव पडावे तसे आम्ही त्याच्यावर तुटून पडू दावीदाला त्याच्या बरोबरच्या मनुष्यांसहीत आम्ही ठार करू कुणालाही सोडणार नाही.
13 And if he is gathered to a city, then they have caused all Israel to carry ropes to that city, and we have drawn it to the brook until there has not even been found a stone there.”
१३पण दावीदाने एखाद्या नगरात आश्रय घेतलेला असेल तर दोरखंड आणून आम्ही सर्व इस्राएल लोक ते नगर ओढून दरीत ढकलू, मग एक धोंडासुध्दा त्याठिकाणी शिल्लक राहणार नाही.
14 And Absalom says—and all the men of Israel, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite [is] better than the counsel of Ahithophel”; and YHWH willed to make void the good counsel of Ahithophel for the sake of YHWH’s bringing the calamity to Absalom.
१४अबशालोम आणि सर्व इस्राएल लोक म्हणाले, अहिथोफेलपेक्षा हूशय अर्की याचा सल्ला चागंला आहे. आणि तो सर्व लोकांस पसंत पडला, कारण ती परमेश्वराची योजना होती. अबशालोमला अद्दल घडावी म्हणून अहिथोफेलचा चांगला सल्ला थोपवून कुचकामी ठरवण्याचा तो परमेश्वराचा बेत होता. अशा प्रकारे तो अबशालोमला अद्दल घडवणार होता.
15 And Hushai says to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, “Thus and thus Ahithophel has counseled Absalom and the elderly of Israel, and thus and thus I have counseled;
१५हूशयने हे सर्व सादोक आणि अब्याथार या याजकांच्या कानावर घातले. अबशालोम आणि इस्राएलमधील वडील मंडळी यांना अहिथोफेलने जे सुचवले ते हूशयने या दोघांना सांगितले. तसेच आपण काय सुचवले तेही सविस्तर सांगितले. हूशय म्हणाला,
16 and now, send quickly, and declare [it] to David, saying, Do not lodge in the plains of the wilderness tonight, and also, certainly pass over, lest there is a swallowing up of the king and of all the people who are with him.”
१६आता त्वरा करा ताबडतोब दावीदा कडे निरोप जाऊ द्या नदीच्या उताराजवळ राहू नका असे त्यांना सांगा. ताबडतोब यार्देन नदी ओलांडून जायला सांगा म्हणजे ते आणि त्यांच्या बरोबरची माणसे पकडली जाणार नाहीत.
17 And Jonathan and Ahimaaz are standing at En-Rogel, and the maidservant has gone and declared [it] to them—and they go and have declared [it] to King David—for they are not able to be seen to go into the city.
१७योनाथान आणि अहीमास ही याजकांची मुले एन-रोगेल येथे थांबली त्यांना गावात शिरताना कुणी पाहू नये म्हणून एक दासी त्यांच्याकडे आली तिने त्यांना निरोप सांगितला तो त्यांनी राजा दावीदाकडे पोचवला.
18 And a youth sees them, and declares [it] to Absalom; and both of them go on quickly, and come to the house of a man in Bahurim, and he has a well in his court, and they go down there,
१८पण एका मुलाने योनाथान आणि अहीमास यांना पाहिले हे अबशालोमला सांगायला तो धावत निघाला. योनाथान आणि अहीमास तेथून चटकन् निघाले. ते बहूरीम येथे एकाच्या घरी पोचले. त्याच्या घराच्या अंगणात एक विहीर होती. त्यामध्ये उतरून ते लपले.
19 and the woman takes and spreads the covering over the face of the well, and spreads the ground grain on it, and the thing has not been known.
१९त्या मनुष्याच्या पत्नीने आडावर एक चादर पसरून वर धान्य ओतले. त्यामुळे तिथे धान्याची रास आहे असे दिसू लागले. तेव्हा तिथे योनाथान आणि अहीमास लपले असतील अशी शंकाही कोणाला आली नाही.
20 And the servants of Absalom come to the woman at the house, and say, “Where [are] Ahimaaz and Jonathan?” And the woman says to them, “They passed over the brook of water”; and they seek, and have not found, and return to Jerusalem.
२०अबशालोमाकडील नोकर त्या घरातल्या स्त्रीकडे आले. त्यांनी योनाथान आणि अहीमासचा ठावठिकाणा विचारला. ते थोड्या वेळापूर्वीच ओहळ ओलांडून गेल्याचे तिने त्यांना सांगितले. मग अबशालोमचे ते नोकर योनाथान आणि अहीमास यांच्या शोधार्थ निघाले. पण ते कुठेच न सापडल्यामुळे हे नोकर यरूशलेमेला परत गेले.
21 And it comes to pass, after their going on, that they come up out of the well, and go and declare [it] to King David, and say to David, “Rise, and pass over the waters quickly, for thus has Ahithophel counseled against you.”
२१इकडे अबशालोमचे नोकर निघून जातात, तो योनाथान आणि अहीमास विहिरीतून बाहेर पडले. तडक राजा दावीदाकडे जाऊन ते त्यास म्हणाले, असाल तसे निघा आणि नदी ओलांडून पलीकडे जा. अहिथोफेलने तुमच्याविरुध्द असे सांगितले आहे.
22 And David rises, and all the people who [are] with him, and they pass over the Jordan, until the morning light, until not one has been lacking who has not passed over the Jordan.
२२तेव्हा दावीदाने आपल्या बरोबरच्या लोकांसह यार्देन नदी ओलांडली सूर्य वर यायच्या आत सर्वजण पलीकडे पोहोंचले होते.
23 And Ahithophel has seen that his counsel was not done, and he saddles the donkey, and rises and goes to his house, to his city, and gives charge to his household, and strangles himself, and dies, and he is buried in the burying-place of his father.
२३इस्राएल लोकांनी आपला सल्ला मानला नाही हे अहिथोफेलच्या लक्षात आले. त्याने गाढवावर खोगीर टाकले आणि आपल्या गावाकडे प्रयाण केले. घरच्यांची पुढली तरतूद केली आणि स्वत: ला फास लावून घेतला. त्याच्या मृत्यूनंतर लोकांनी त्याचे त्याच्या वडीलांच्या कबरेतच दफन केले.
24 And David came to Mahanaim, and Absalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him;
२४दावीद महनाईम येथे आला अबशालोमने सर्व इस्राएलीं समवेत यार्देन नदी ओलांडली.
25 and Absalom has set Amasa over the host instead of Joab, and Amasa [is] a man’s son whose name is Ithra the Israeli who has gone in to Abigail, daughter of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, mother of Joab;
२५अबशालोमने अमासा याला सेनापती केले. यवाबाची जागा अमासाने घेतली. अमासा इस्राएली इथ्राचा पुत्र. अमासाची आई अबीगईल. सरुवेची बहीण नाहाश हिची ही अबीगल कन्या. सरुवे यवाबाची आई.
26 and Israel encamps with Absalom [in] the land of Gilead.
२६अबशालोम आणि त्याच्या बरोबरचे इस्राएल लोकांनी गिलाद प्रांतात मुक्काम केला.
27 And it comes to pass at the coming in of David to Mahanaim, that Shobi son of Nahash, from Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, and Machir son of Ammiel, from Behold-Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite, from Rogelim,
२७दावीद महनाईम येथे आला शोबी, माखीर आणि बर्जिल्लय तेथेच होते. नाहाशचा मुलगा शोबी हा अम्मोन्यांच्या राब्बा नगरातला होता. अम्मीएलचा मुलगा माखीर हा लो-दबार तर बर्जिल्ल्य गिलाद येथील रोगलीमचा होता.
28 [have brought] bed, and basin, and earthen vessel, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and roasted [grain], and beans, and lentiles, and roasted [pulse],
२८ते म्हणाले, हे वाळवंटातील लोक थकले भागलेले आणि तहानलेले भुकेलेले असे आहेत. त्यांनी दावीद आणि इतर सर्वजणांसाठी बरेचसे खायचे प्यायचे पदार्थ आणले. तसेच बिछाने, भांडीकुंडी सुध्दा ते घेऊन आले.
29 and honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of cows; they have brought [these] near for David, and for the people who [are] with him to eat, for they said, “Your people [are] hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.”
२९गहू जव, कणीक, हुरडा, शेंगा, डाळी, वाटाणे, मध, लोणी, मेंढरे तसेच गाईच्या दुधाचे पनीर याही वस्तू त्यांनी आणल्या.
