Ruth 1
1 And it came to pass in the days when the judges judged, that there was a famine in the land: and there went a certain man of Beth-lechem-judah to sojourn in the fields of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
೧ನ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಥಾಪಕರು ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೂದ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನವನೊಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ, ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪುತ್ರರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಮೋವಾಬ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Na'omi, and the name of his two sons Machlon and Kilyon, Ephrathites of Beth-lechem-judah. And they came into the fields of Moab, and remained there.
೨ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹೆಸರು ಎಲೀಮೆಲೆಕ, ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ನವೊಮಿ. ಅವನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹೆಸರು ಮಹ್ಲೋನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕಿಲ್ಯೋನ್. ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಎಫ್ರಾತದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನವರಾದ ಇವರು ಮೋವಾಬ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದು ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ
3 Thereupon died Elimelech Na'omi's husband; and she was left, with her two sons.
೩ನವೊಮಿಯ ಗಂಡನಾದ ಎಲೀಮೆಲೆಕನು ಮರಣ ಹೊಂದಿದನು. ಆಕೆಯು ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮಕ್ಕಳೊಡನೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಉಳಿದಳು.
4 And they took themselves wives of the women of Moab; the name of one was 'Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelt there about ten years.
೪ಈ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಒರ್ಫಾ, ರೂತ್ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಮೋವಾಬ್ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಸುಮಾರು ಹತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
5 And then died also both of these, Machlon and Kilyon, and the woman was left [deprived] of her two children and her husband.
೫ಅವರು ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ನವೊಮಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಮಹ್ಲೋನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕಿಲ್ಯೋನ್ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ತೀರಿಹೋದರು. ಹೀಗೆ ನವೊಮಿ ಗಂಡನನ್ನೂ, ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಸೊಸೆಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಉಳಿದಳು.
6 Then did she arise with her daughters-in-law, and returned homeward from the fields of Moab; for she had heard in the fields of Moab that the Lord had thought of his people in giving them bread.
೬ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸಂದರ್ಶಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ ನವೊಮಿಯು ತನ್ನ ಸೊಸೆಯರೊಡನೆ ಮೋವಾಬ್ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದಳು.
7 Therefore she went forth out of the place where she had been, and her two daughters-in-law [were] with her; and they went on their way to return unto the land of Judah.
೭ಆಕೆಯು ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸೊಸೆಯರೊಡನೆ ತಾನಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ
8 Then said Na'omi unto her two daughters-in-law, Go, return each one to her mother's house: may the Lord deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
೮ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ತಿರುಗಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ತವರುಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿರಿ, ನೀವು ನನ್ನನ್ನೂ, ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದ ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೃಪೆತೋರಿಸಲಿ.
9 May the Lord grant unto you that ye may find rest, each one in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them, and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
೯ನೀವಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಗಂಡನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಖವಾಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟಳು.
10 And they said unto her, [No, ] for truly we will return with thee unto thy people.
೧೦ಆಗ ಅವರು ಬಹಳ ದುಃಖದಿಂದ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅತ್ತು ನಾವೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ವಜನರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತೇವೆ ಅನ್ನಲು,
11 Then said Na'omi, Return back, my daughters; why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may become your husbands?
೧೧ಆಕೆಯು, “ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ, ನೀವು ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಬರುವುದೇಕೆ? ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿರಿ. ನಿಮಗೆ ಗಂಡಂದಿರನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನನ್ನ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ.
12 Return back, my daughters, go; for I am too old to become [the wife] of any man; yea, if I were even to think, I have hope; should I even obtain this night a husband, and should also bear sons:
೧೨ನಾನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ಮದುವೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರಾಯವೂ ನನಗೆ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗಿದೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ, ನೀವು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಿರಿ. ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಆ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಿಂದ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತೇ ನಾನು ಪುನಃ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತರೂ,
13 Would ye wait in hopes for them till they were grown? would ye debar yourselves for them so as not to become the wives of any man? not so, my daughters; for I feel much more bitter pain than you; because the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
೧೩ಅವರು ದೊಡ್ಡವರಾಗುವ ತನಕ ನೀವು ಕಾದಿರುವಿರೋ? ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ವರೆಗೂ ಗಂಡಂದಿರಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಇರುವಿರೋ? ನನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ, ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡಿರಿ; ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹಸ್ತವು ನನ್ನಿಂದ ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ನಿಮಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ದುಃಖಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಅಂದಳು.
14 And they lifted up their voice and wept a long time; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law; but Ruth cleaved unto her.
೧೪ಆಗ ಅವರು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ದುಃಖಿಸಿ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅತ್ತರು. ಒರ್ಫಳು ಅತ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಟು ತನ್ನ ತವರಿಗೆ ಹೋದಳು; ರೂತಳಾದರೋ ಅತ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ತೊರೆದುಹೋಗದೆ ಅವಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದಳು.
15 And she said, Behold, thy sister-in-law is returned back unto her people, and unto her gods; return thou after thy sister-in-law.
೧೫ನವೊಮಿಯು ರೂತಳಿಗೆ, ಇಗೋ, ನಿನ್ನ ಓರಗಿತ್ತಿಯು ತಿರುಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಜನರ ಬಳಿಗೂ, ತನ್ನ ಕುಲ ದೇವರುಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೂ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ನೀನೂ ಆಕೆಯಂತೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು ಅಂದಾಗ,
16 But Ruth said, Urge me not to leave thee, to return from following thee; for whither thou goest, will I go; and where thou lodgest, will I lodge; thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.
೧೬ಆಕೆಯು, “ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯಪಡಿಸಬೇಡ. ನೀನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದರೂ ನಾನೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರುವೆನು; ನೀನು ವಾಸಿಸುವಲ್ಲೇ ನಾನೂ ವಾಸಿಸುವೆನು; ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರೇ ನನ್ನ ಜನರು; ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರೇ ನನ್ನ ದೇವರು.
17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried; may the Lord do so to me, and may he so continue, if aught but death shall part me from thee.
೧೭ನೀನು ಸಾಯುವಲ್ಲೇ ನಾನೂ ಸಾಯುವೆನು; ಅಲ್ಲೇ ನನಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಾಗಬೇಕು. ಮರಣದಿಂದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಗಲಿದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದಳು.
18 When she thus saw that she was persisting to go with her, she left off speaking unto her.
೧೮ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದಾಳೆಂದು ನವೊಮಿಯು ತಿಳಿದು ಸುಮ್ಮನಾದಳು.
19 So these two went until they came to Beth-lechem. And it came to pass, when they entered Beth-lechem, that all the city was in commotion about them, and people said, Is this Na'omi?
೧೯ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಊರೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಮೂಡಿತು. ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು, “ಈಕೆಯು ನವೊಮಿಯಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಲು
20 And she said unto them, Call me not Na'omi, call me Mara; for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
೨೦ಆಕೆಯು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನವೊಮಿಯೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಬೇಡಿರಿ; ನನ್ನನ್ನು ‘ಮಾರಾ’ (ಕಹಿ) ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಿರಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ಬಹಳ ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಜೀವಿತವನ್ನು ಮಾರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
21 I went out full, but empty hath the Lord brought me home again; why then will ye call me Na'omi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath sent me affliction?
೨೧ಸಿರಿವಂತಳಾಗಿ ಹೋದೆನು; ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಗತಿಹೀನಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ, ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಾಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಹೀಗಿರುವಾಗ ನೀವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನವೊಮಿಯೆಂದು ಕರೆಯುವುದು ಸರಿಯೇ” ಅಂದಳು.
22 So did Na'omi return, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, who had returned out of the fields of Moab; and they came to Beth-lechem at the beginning of the barley-harvest.
೨೨ಹೀಗೆ, ನವೊಮಿಯು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯಳಾದ ತನ್ನ ಸೊಸೆ ರೂತಳೊಡನೆ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದಳು. ಆಗ ಜವೆಗೋದಿಯ ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
