Psalms 91

1 He who sitteth under the secret protection of the Most High, shall rest under the shadow of the Almighty.

Den der under dens Högstas bekärm sitter, och under dens Allsmägtigas skugga blifver,

2 I will say of the Lord, who is my refuge and my stronghold, my God, in whom I ever trust,

Han säger till Herran: Mitt hopp och min borg; min Gud, den jag hoppas uppå.

3 That he will surely deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the pestilence of destruction.

Ty han frälsar dig ifrå jägarens snaro, och ifrå den skadeliga pestilentie.

4 With his pinions will he cover thee, and under his wings shalt thou find shelter: shield and buckler is his truth.

Han skall betäcka dig med sina fjädrar, och ditt hopp skall vara under hans vingar; hans sanning är spjut och sköld;

5 Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night; nor of the arrow that flieth by day;

Att du icke torf förskräckas för nattenes stygghet; för de skott, som om dagen flyga;

6 Nor of the pestilence that stalketh in darkness; nor of the deadly disease that wasteth at noonday.

För pestilentie, som i mörkrena vankar; för den sjuko, som om middagen förderfvar.

7 There shall fall at thy side a thousand, and ten thousand at thy right hand; unto thee [however] shall it not come nigh.

Om tusende falla vid dina sido, och tiotusende vid dina högra sido, så skall det dock intet drabba uppå dig.

8 Only with thy eyes shalt thou behold it, and see the recompense of the wicked.

Ja, du skall med din ögon se lust, och skåda huru dem ogudaktigom vedergullet varder.

9 Because thou hast [said], The Lord is my protection, the Most High hast thou made thy refuge:

Ty Herren är ditt hopp; den Högste är din tillflykt.

10 No evil shall befall thee, nor shall any plague come nigh unto thy tent.

Dig varder intet ondt vederfarandes, och ingen plåga skall nalkas dine hyddo.

11 For his angels will he give charge concerning thee, to guard thee on all thy ways.

Ty han hafver befallt sinom Änglom om dig, att de skola bevara dig på allom dinom vägom.

12 Upon [their] hands shall they bear thee, that thou mayest not dash against a stone thy foot.

De skola bära dig på händerna, att du icke stöter din fot på stenen.

13 Upon the fierce lion and asp shalt thou tread: thou shalt trample under foot the young lion and serpent.

På lejon och huggormar skall du gå, och trampa uppå det unga lejonet och drakan.

14 Because he hath fixed his desire upon me, therefore will I release him: I will set him on high, because he knoweth my name.

Han begärar mig, ty vill jag uthjelpa honom; han känner mitt Namn, derföre vill jag beskydda honom.

15 He will call on me, and I will answer him: with him will I be in distress; I will deliver him, and grant him honor.

Han åkallar mig, ty vill jag höra honom; jag är när honom i nödene; jag skall taga honom derut, och låta honom till äro komma.

16 With length of days will I satisfy him, and I will let him see my salvation.

Jag skall mätta honom med långt lit, och skall bete honom mina salighet.
