Psalms 82

1 “A psalm of Assaph.” God standeth in the congregation of God, in the midst of judges doth he judge.

Ein Psalm Assaphs. Gott stehet in der Gemeine Gottes und ist Richter unter den Göttern.

2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and treat with favor the face of the wicked? (Selah)

Wie lange wollt ihr unrecht richten und die Person der Gottlosen vorziehen? (Sela)

3 Judge uprightly the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and indigent.

Schaffet Recht dem Armen und dem Waisen und helfet dem Elenden und Dürftigen zum Recht!

4 Release the poor and needy: deliver them out of the power of the wicked.

den Geringen und Armen und erlöset ihn aus der Gottlosen Gewalt!

5 They know not, nor will they understand; in darkness do they walk on: all the foundations of the earth are moved.

Aber sie lassen ihnen nicht sagen und achten's nicht; sie gehen immer hin im Finstern; darum müssen alle Grundfesten des Landes fallen.

6 I have indeed said, Ye are gods; and children of the most High are all of you.

Ich habe wohl gesagt: Ihr seid Götter und allzumal Kinder des Höchsten;

7 But verily like men shall ye die, and like one of the princes shall ye fall.

aber ihr werdet sterben wie Menschen und wie ein Tyrann zugrunde gehen.

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; for thou wilt possess all the nations.

Gott, mache dich auf und richte das Land; denn du bist Erbherr über alle Heiden.
