< Psalms 27 >

1 “Of David.” The Lord is my light and my salvation; of whom shall I be afraid? the Lord is the fortress of my life; of whom shall I have dread?
Na Rawiri. Ko Ihowa toku marama, toku whakaoranga; kia wehi ahau i a wai? Ko Ihowa te kaha o toku ora; ko wai e mataku ai ahau?
2 When evil-doers come near against me to eat up my flesh, my assailants and my enemies at me: then do they stumble and fall.
I te whakatatanga mai o te hunga kino, o oku hoariri, o oku hoa whainga, ki te kai i oku kikokiko, tutuki ana ratou, hinga ana.
3 If an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: if war should arise against me, even then will I have trust.
Ahakoa whakapae noa te ope i ahau e kore toku ngakau e wehi: ahakoa ara noa te pakanga ki ahau, ka au tonu ia ahau.
4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that I will seek for: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the loveliness of the Lord, and to be every morning early in his temple.
Kotahi taku mea i inoi ai i a Ihowa, ko taku tena e rapu ai: kia noho i te whare o Ihowa i nga ra katoa e ora ai ahau, kia kite ai i te ataahua o Ihowa, kia ui ai i roto i tona temepara.
5 For he will hide me in his pavilion on the day of evil; he will conceal me in the secret of his tabernacle; upon a rock will he place me high.
Ka huna hoki ahau e ia ki tona teneti i te ra o te he, ka huna ki te wahi ngaro i tona tapenakara, ka hapainga ahau ki runga ki te kohatu.
6 And now will my head be lifted up above my enemies all round about me; and I will sacrifice in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy: I will sing, and I will triumphantly play unto the Lord.
Na, aianei ka teitei toku mahunga ki runga ake i oku hoariri, e karapoti nei i ahau; a ka patua e ahau i roto i tona tapenakara he whakahere hari; ka waiata ahau, ae ka himene ki a Ihowa.
7 Hear, O Lord, my voice, [when] I call, and be gracious unto me, and answer me.
Whakarongo mai ki toku reo, e Ihowa, ua karanga ahau, tohungia ahau, whakahokia mai hoki he kupu ki ahau.
8 Of thee, said my heart, “Seek ye my presence”: thy presence, Lord, will I seek.
I a koe i mea, Rapua e koutou toku mata; ka mea toku ngakau ki a koe, ka rapu ahau i tou mata, e Ihowa.
9 Hide [then] not thy face from me; reject not in anger thy servant, thou [who] hast been my help: cast me not off, nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.
Kaua tou mata e huna ki ahau, kaua tau pononga e peia atu ua riri koe: ko koe toku kaiawhina, kei mahue ahau i a koe, kei whakarerea e koe e te Atua o toku whakaoranga.
10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me; but the Lord will take me up.
Ki te whakarerea ahau e toku papa, e toku whaea, ko Ihowa hei tukunga atu moku.
11 Point me out thy way, O Lord! and guide me on a level path, because of those that regard me enviously.
E Ihowa, whakaakona ahau ki tau ara; arahina ahau i te ara tika, he hoariri hoki oku.
12 Give me not up to the [revengeful] desire of my assailants; for there are risen up against me false witnesses, and such as utter violence.
Kaua ahau e tukua ki te hiahia o oku hoariri; kua whakatika mai hoki ki ahau he kaiwhakapae teka, me te hunga manawa nanakia.
13 Unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of life—
Kua ngohe ahau, me i kaua ahau i whakapono, tera ahau e kite i te pai o te Atua i te whenua o te ora.
14 Wait on the Lord; be strong, and let thy heart be of good courage; and only wait on the Lord.
Taria a Ihowa: kia maia, a kia kaha tou ngakau; ina, taria a Ihowa.
