1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

2 Go and call out before the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus hath said the Lord, I remember unto thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thy espousals, thy going after me in the wilderness, through a land that is not sown.

3 A holy thing is Israel unto the Lord, the first of his fruits: all that devour him shall incur guilt; evil shall come over them, saith the Lord.
Israel he BOEIPA ham cim. A thaih khuikah thaihcuek ni. Te te aka yoop rhoek tah boeih boe uh coeng. Amih te yoethaenah loh a thoeng thil,’ a ti te BOEIPA kah olphong ni, 'ti nah,” a ti.
4 Hear ye the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob, and all ye families of the house of Israel.
Jakob imkhui neh Israel imkhui cako boeih BOEIPA ol he hnatun uh.
5 Thus hath said the Lord, What fault did your fathers find in me, that they went away far from me, and walked after vanity, and became vain?
BOEIPA loh, “Na pa rhoek loh kai dongah mebang dumlai a hmuh uh tih kai lamloh n'lakhla takuh. A honghi hnuk ah a caeh uh nen la a hoemdawk uh.
6 That they said not, Where is the Lord that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of wildness, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land through which no one had passed, and where no man had dwelt?
Mamih he Egypt kho lamkah aka caeh puei, khosoek ah, khohmuen kolken ah, khohmuen rhamrhae kah vaam neh dueknah hlipkhup ah, pakhat long khaw a pah nah pawt neh hlang loh a om nah pawh khohmuen ah aka mawt BOEIPA ta melae? ti uh pawh.
7 And I brought you into the land of fruitful fields, to eat its fruit and its goodly products; but ye came and ye made unclean my land, and my heritage ye rendered an abomination.
Cangpai cangngol khohmuen kah a thaih neh a thennah cah hamla nangmih kang khuen. Tedae na pawk uh vaengah ka khohmuen te na poeih uh tih ka rho he tueilaehkoi la na khueh uh.
8 The priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that handle the law knew me not; and the shepherds transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied in the name of Ba'al, and after things that cannot profit did they walk.
Khosoih rhoek loh BOEIPA ta,” ti uh pawh. Olkhueng aka tu rhoek nawn loh kai m'ming uh pawh. Kai taengah boekoek neh luem uh tih tonghma rhoek khaw Baal rhangneh tonghma uh tih aka hoeikhang pawt rhoek kah hnukah pongpa uh.
9 Therefore will I contend yet farther with you, saith the Lord, and with your children's children will I contend.
Te dongah nangmih kan ho te BOEIPA kah olphong coeng ni. Na ca rhoek kah a ca rhoek te khaw ka ho pueng ni.
10 For pass over to the isles of the Chittites, and see; and unto Kedar send, and consider well and see if any thing like this hath happened.
Kittim sanglak paan uh lamtah so lah. Kedar te tah lamtah rhep yakming laeh. Te bang te a om atah hmu van lah.
11 Hath a nation exchanged its gods, which are yet no gods? and [still] my people hath exchanged its glory for that which can not profit.
Amih te pathen moenih, tedae namtom loh pathen te a hoilae aya? Ka pilnam loh a hoeikhang pawt dongah a thangpomnah neh a tho uh.
12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and let your hair stand at an end, be ye greatly terrified, saith the Lord.
Te ah te vaan khaw hal saeh lamtah yawn saeh, mat khap uh saeh, BOEIPA kah olphong ni he.
13 For two evils have my people committed: me have they forsaken, the source of living waters, to hew out for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, that cannot hold water.
Ka pilnam loh kai mulhing thunsih tui te a hnoo uh tih amamih ham tuito a vueh uh te boethae panit la a saii uh. Tangrhom aka rhek te tui khaw a ciip hae moenih.
14 Is Israel a servant? or one born [to servitude] in the house? why hath he been given up to plunder?
Israel he sal a? A im kah cahlah a? Balae tih maeh la a om?
15 [That] over him young lions roared, let their voice resound, and changed his land into a waste, that his cities are burnt, left without an inhabitant?
Anih taengah sathuengca rhoek kawk uh tih a ol a huel uh vaengah, a khohmuen kah a khopuei te imsuep la a khueh. Khosa pawt rhoek lamloh a hnueih khaw a hnueih uh mai.
16 Even the children of Noph and Thachpanches have crushed the crown of thy head.
Noph neh Tapanhes ca rhoek khaw na luki ah luem uh.
17 Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, through thy forsaking the Lord thy God, while he was leading thee on the [right] way?
Nang soah na saii te he moenih a? nang m'mawt kuelhuelh vaengah longpuei ah BOEIPA na Pathen te na hnawt.
18 And now what hast thou to do on the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Shichor? and what hast thou to do on the way of Asshur, to drink the waters of the river?
Tahae ah Egypt longpuei la Shihor tui ok ham te nang ham balae a hoeikhang? Assyria longpuei la tuiva tui ok ham khaw nang ham balae a hoeikhang eh?
19 Thy own wickedness shall chastise thee, and thy backslidings shall correct thee; and thou shalt know and see that evil and bitter was thy forsaking the Lord thy God, while the dread of me was not upon thee, saith the Lord Eternal of hosts.
Na boethae loh namah n'toel vetih na hnuknong loh namah n'tluung ni. BOEIPA na Pathen na hnoo te boethae neh khahing la ming uh lamtah hmu uh. Nang taengah ka ka letnah a om moenih. Ka Boeipa Caempuei Yahovah kah olphong ni.
20 Because from yore did I break thy yoke, did I burst asunder thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress: nevertheless upon every high hill and under every green tree thou makest thy bed, as harlot.
Khosuen kah na hnamkun kam bawt tih, na kuelrhui ka pat sak. Tedae tho kan thueng mahpawh, som boeih te a sang la ka paan bitni,’ na ti. Thingkung thinghing hmui boeih ah pumyoi la na khuum.
21 Yet I had planted thee as a branch of a noble vine, wholly of the proper seed; but how art thou changed unto me into a degenerate plant of an ignoble vine?
Kai loh cangtak mutue boeih khuikah cangsawt misur lam ni nang kan phung. Balae tih kai taengah kholong misur, a rhol la na poehlip uh.
22 For though thou wash thyself with natron, and take for thyself much soap: yet would the stain of thy iniquity remain before me, saith the Lord Eternal.
Lunghuem neh na silh tih namah ham lunghang na kum cakhaw kai mikhmuh ah namah kathaesainah a kap pueng te ka Boeipa Yahovah kah olphong ni.
23 How canst thou say, I am not become unclean, after the Be'alim have I not gone? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: [like] a swift dromedary bound fast to her ways;
Balae tih, 'Ka poeih uh moenih, Baal hnukah khaw ka pongpa pawh,’ na ti. Kolrhawk kah namah khosing te hmu lah saw, a longpuei ah kapyang kalauk kolhalh bangla na saii te ming lah.
24 [Like] a wild ass used to the wilderness, that at her pleasure snuffeth up the wind; her lust—who can turn this away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month will they find her.
Kohong marhang te a hinglu, a hinglu kah a hue neh khosoek khaw a lolmang nah. Amah tuetang ah yilh a mam. Anih aka mah te unim? Anih aka mae rhoek boeih khaw tawnba uh mahpawh. A hlasae dongah ni anih te a hmuh uh eh.
25 “Prevent thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from being thirsty;” but thou saidst, It is useless; no, for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
Na kho khotling neh na cangtilhmuen khaw, na olrhong te tuihalhnah lamloh tuem. Talsae la, “Hlanglak te ka lungnah ngawn pawt dae amih hnukah ka cet kuekluek ni,” na ti.
26 As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so have the house of Israel been made ashamed, they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,
Hlanghuen a hmuh uh vaengkah yahpohnah bangla amih Israel imkhui kah a manghai rhoek, a mangpa rhoek, a khosoih rhoek, a tonghma rhoek khaw yak uh tangkhuet.
27 Who say to the wood, Thou art my father; and to the stone, Thou hast brought us forth; for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face; but in the time of their misfortune will they say, Arise, and save us.
Thing taengah, 'Kamah napa tah nang ni, 'lungto taengah, 'Namah loh kaimih nan cun tah nan cun coeng,’ aka ti rhoek aw kai he a rhawn n'koh tak uh tih maelhmai khaw tal. Tedae a yoethae hnin ah tah, “Thoo lamtah kaimih n'khang lah,” a ti uh.
28 But where are then thy gods that thou hast made for thyself? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy misfortune; for equal to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah.
Na pathen khaw namah ham na saii te ta? Na yoethae tue vaengah nang n'khang uh mak atah thoo uh saeh saw. Nang kah khopuei rhoek tarhing ah Judah nang kah pathen rhoek khaw om uh.
29 Wherefore will ye contend with me? all of you have transgressed against me, saith the Lord.
Balae tih nangmih boeih loh kai nang oelh uh tih kai taengah boe na koekuh. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
30 To no purpose have I smitten your children; correction they accepted not: your sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
Na ca rhoek te a poeyoek la ka taam tih thuituennah khaw doe uh pawh. Sathueng kah a hnom bangla na tonghma rhoek khaw na cunghang loh a yoop coeng.
31 O [present] generation, regard ye the word of the Lord. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of deep darkness? wherefore say my people, We wander about; we cannot come any more unto thee?
Nangmih kah cadilcahma loh BOEIPA ol te hmu uh saeh. Israel taengah tah khosoek la, khohmuen yinsamangting la ka om a? Balae tih ka pilnam loh, “Ka van uh tih, nang taengla koep ka pawk uh mahpawh,” a ti uh.
32 Can a virgin forget her ornament, or a bride her decorations? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.
oila loh amah kah tanu cangen neh a haikang a hnilh nim? Tedae ka pilnam loh kai n'hnilh te khohnin tae lek mahpawh.
33 Why ornamentest thou thy way to seek for love? truly even the worst hast thou used thyself as thy ways.
Lungnah tlap ham balae tih na longpuei na voelphoeng sak. Boethae te na khosing neh na cang khaw na cang mai.
34 Also on thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the innocent needy ones: not while breaking in [thy house] didst thou find them; but for all these things.
Khodaeng neh ommongsitoe kah hinglu thii he na mul dongah khaw a hmuh uh. Te boeih lalah pataeng umlawt dawk neh amih na hmuh moenih.
35 Yet thou sayest, Yea, I am innocent, surely his anger is already turned away from me. Behold, I will hold judgment with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.
Te phoeiah, “Tedae ommongsitoe ngawn tih a thintoek khaw kai lamloh mael coeng,” na ti. “Ka tholh pawh,” na ti dongah nang te kamah loh kam boe sak coeng he.
36 Why makest thou thyself so very low to change thy way? also because of Egypt shalt thou be made ashamed, as thou wast put to shame because of Assyria.
Na longpuei te balae tih thovael ham muep na haam thil? Assyria kah yahbai bangla Egypt long khaw yah m'bai ni.
37 Also from this one shalt thou go forth, with thy hands [clasped] over thy head; for the Lord hath rejected those on whom thou trustest and thou shalt not prosper with them.
Te lamloh na pawk vaengah na kut te na lu ah na paengpoei ni. Na pangtungnah rhoek te BOEIPA loh a hnawt coeng dongah amih loh thaihtak sak mahpawh.
